House kissing the soulful and sublimely human Franka Potenta at the end of the Spoiler Clip! Yay! Go House!
I am glad to learn the kiss scene is real as well. It seems to be taking place early in the morning and in the common room for patients in Ward 6. He’s dressed pretty formally and warmly in his blue shirt and coat while she’s not. And he seems to really be into the kiss.
One possible explanation: It’s House’s last day at the facility. He’s woken up early, is dressed up and is hanging out in the common room waiting till the administrative offices open. Along comes the FP character to say good bye and they end up kissing. This would be both a parallel and contrast to the season five ending in which he wanted Cuddy to help him but couldn’t, went off and imagined things with her and ended up in the facility. Here, perhaps this woman does help him (either as a doctor or as a fellow patient) and he is able to form a connection with her and acknowledge it. This way his stay at the institute will end on a hopeful and positive kind of note. Then Wilson comes to pick House up and the episode ends with them driving away from Mayfield and towards House’s professional and personal struggles in the real world.
Even if it doesn’t play out like this, I think this is going to be a lot like “Frozen”, where he does bond with a woman but only temporarily, under extraordinary circumstances and without any real consequences, while viewers get a glimpse into what he is capable of.

IOW not very much. It's more of the same nonsense and we have to relive something from back in the middle of S4 to see and understand that at the beginning of S6. :(
Yes, that does sound like this show as of late. :|

House kissing the soulful and sublimely human Franka Potenta at the end of the Spoiler Clip! Yay! Go House! And now it's Cuddy's turn because 6 years without intimacy is cruel and unusual punishment. I'm going to start by considering likely suspects. Damian Lewis has been freed up to work.
Wait, Damian Lewis' show got cancelled? Really? Otoh, DL certainly has the acting chops and he is very pretty to look at. I could get on board with him.
I'm not sure what to make of the kiss. I wonder if we will see a House who is all over the map in terms of his emotions. Didn't DS say that he's exploring House's fight to stay sane (or some such similar words)? I'm really interested to see just how stable House is at the beginning of the season.

I think it's great that Chase and Cameron are coming back to the team temporarily. And I know this statement is about to get shot down because, OMG, TPTB are liars, yo, but I hope that from this arc comes ways of using Chase and Cameron in more medical roles in the long-term once they're no longer on the team. If they're integrated well with Foreman, Thirteen, and Taub, then I think that Shore & Co. will have found a good way to use them on a regular basis.

I agree with all of this. I'm also really interested in seeing them working together medically again. It seems like their relationship really took off once they weren't working together anymore. They've always had very different styles when it comes to ddx and patient care. I wonder how being thrown back into that context now that they're married will affect their relationship. Not that I'm saying I expect it to fail, because I don't, but I think there will be very interesting issues to work through.

It would also give the writers a chance to explore the differences between their functional relationship while working together and Foreman and Thirteen. (Don't shoot me for mentioning Foreman/Thirteen. I'm just saying that in terms of juxtaposition, it's certainly there.)

In "Frozen" he connected with a woman who he knew he was “safe” from because she was physically very far away. Here, he’s actually kissing someone. I do think it represents progress for House, even if it’s happening at a slower pace than some might like.
It’s great to know Chase/Cam will be more involved in the medicine. I am looking forward to the first few episodes of the season.

Definitely. Personally, I'd love to see a scene where Chase tries to give Foreman relationship advice. Since it's been pretty much the opposite up until now.

A woman, whether doctor or patient, that House knows his time with will be finite providing him the "safe" distance he will soon need. The kiss taking place probably having a lot more to do with the also temporary, highly vulnerable state House is in so as to be easily discounted later. Much like the kiss between House and Cuddy in Joy.
In many ways it can be as distant and "unreal" as the robo-sex with Cameron, the TV-like internet communications with Cate, the false reality of the Huddy detox & sex and all of House's hooker interactions. Not progress to me.
Same stuff, different day. Perhaps that's the real point, again.

That's a lot of assumptions to make of a flashed moment on a preview. For all we know, the kiss occurs in the middle of the episode, and they both have to deal with outcome. Maybe it's some strange form of therapy (he's an atypical patient, why not an atypical doctor with atypical approaches?)
I'm more than willing to wait and see what actually happens first before trying to analyze it.

Wow, that's a pretty shocking statement for the HHOW Spoiler discussion thread.
Ariadne- 08-10-2009
Like Cate in Frozen and Stacy in season 2, this new woman will be a dead end for a real relationship, which is why House is free to kiss her and show what a sexy beast he is. I wonder if it's also there to show House is now ready to explore the idea of having a relationship with someone, as he wasn't in season 1.

Hey, I resemble that remark. :D
From Ausiello's interview April 7:
There’s an opening on House’s team now. Will Chase or Cameron fill it?
SHORE: No, there’s a different Chase-Cameron storyline coming up. We touch on it, but that’s not really where we go with it.
I recall another interview with Shore that they won't be back at the beginning of the season but I can't find it right now. He's still qualifying things with "on a temporary basis" and "a little bit".
Pulling back on Huddy / kissing another woman and putting C&C back on medical duty (meanwhile putting out a Huddy video to keep Huddy fans) gives me the feeling they're reacting to ratings and audience feedback.
I'll take Cameron and Chase back as doctors any way I can get them. :applause:

Yeah, me too. I'm not going to judge the season before it starts. As far as the kiss goes, it wouldn't surprise me if House is being manipulative or using it to test a theory. Whatever it's about, I don't think it will a huge meaning going forward.

That's a lot of assumptions to make of a flashed moment on a preview. For all we know, the kiss occurs in the middle of the episode, and they both have to deal with outcome. But not for very long because the ultimate outcome is House is going to leave Mayfield and be away from her.
Maybe it's some strange form of therapy (he's an atypical patient, why not an atypical doctor with atypical approaches?)Why not a charge of malpractice and unethical behavior while we're at it. Kissing a patient is not atypical it's inappropriate. Unless she's a sex therapist and hasn't House hired enough sex workers in the past? :?
Why is House an atypical patient? Because he's rude, confrontational and uncooperative? Beacause he's a brilliant doctor? Because he's had a difficult life and suffered heartache and drug dependency?
As patients go in medical and psychiatric facilities none of that sounds very atypical to me.
I'm more than willing to wait and see what actually happens first before trying to analyze it.
That's fine. I was interested in discussing a spoiler, that's why I posted in this thread.
I promise to stay clear of the wait and see thread.

And seasons 2, 3, 4, and 5.
ITA that whatever is happening in that hospital kiss that it is a dead end relationship wise. That's why I don't see it boding well as a sign for House being ready for anything real with someone else, anywhere else.
I'm guessing House will still function best in the personal romance realm when nothing can actually happen.

Like in his hallucinations. :)
