(Why do terrible things happen to House when he's wearing a pink shirt? Pink has some sort of symbolism.)
I thought it was the light blue shirt that bad things happen to him in.

He OD'd in MLC in an olive shirt.

Maybe bad things happen to House whenever he wears a shirt. I'm thinking he should just take it off and everyone will be happy.

Is anyone else wondering whether House will still be hallucinating in the opener? And, if he is, will we see Amber and Kutner?

I like the way you think BooBoo ;)

I've wondered that too. If his condition is going to be dealt with realistically, the hallucinations wouldn't stop the moment he got to Mayfield...but then again do we know for sure that S6 picks up from the moment when the door closed or has some time passed? On a shallow note, I'm also wondering how they're going to explain his hair, which was pretty long at the end of BSN, but now is a buzzcut.

I thought about the hair bit earlier, but decided that maybe we're just not supposed to notice.

I can't back this up because I can't remember where I heard or read it, but I think someone in TPTB said that S6 does start right where S5 left off.
Since they did some shooting in NJ last spring, it could be that at that time they shot an opening scene or two with HL's hair long.

Yes, I've also wondered about that. I would think if the premier picks up right when he enters the hospital, he would still be having some hallucinations. Probably not Kutner but at least Amber.

I get the hair thing now. My inner continuity monkey is getting all excited.

Hopefully seconding that!
For the short hair cut, maybe they'll have him shave his head right after his admission?
And I think TPTB stops pretending HL is not going bald, since we see that huge posterior bald spot when House looks outside the window. Methinks nobody 's going to blame them, since hiding it could be tricky now

I remember seeing promo pics from the first episode of Season 5. It was the scene where Wilson packs up his belongings and leaves House standing alone as he watches Wilson walk down the hall. In the promos pics, his bald spot was front and center. I think it was in Rex Features but could be wrong. By the time we saw the episode, they blurred the back of his head so you could not tell he was balding.
While I would love them to allow House/Hugh go natural, House is not bald. Hugh is and he appears to be totally comfortable with it since he goes natural in everything except for filming the show. But I don't believe it is his choice. Is it even TPTB or would it be the network? I suspect by the time the show airs, we will see a blurred back of House's head once again.

I think it may have been a mutual decision among Hugh, Katie, David and Brian. I just remember during the first Paley interview, they discussed the creation of the character and Hugh's beard and how that came about and basically said they sat down and discussed the image of House and how he should look. They liked his scruff from the Flight of the Phoenix tape, plus there was mentioning of the clothing, etc. Since Hugh was already noticeably balding when they shot the pilot, I could only guess that they came to a conclusion he should look a certain way (more youthful) and that's how it would be. Wasn't there talk of how the first two seasons they used a boat load of makeup on Hugh to make him look younger, then seemed to ease up around season 4?
My point is, since it was established in the beginning House had a full head of hair unlike Hugh, they're not going to suddenly drop the rug after 5 years of using it (though the short hair does seem a bit problematic).

Well in the pilot script, House was about 10 years younger than Hugh is. (Hugh also has commented that he knew he couldn't play Bertie Wooster anymore when they had to reshoot a scene because his bald spot was showing, but that may be a combo of HL's modesty issues and simple fact of life.)
While they've used a combination of artful hair sculpting and rug for House, they've also made a few references to his hair thinning, including Wilson's jibe in the second season about getting out of House's hair: "Or what's left of it."
From what we've seen, it looks like there is some balding that is visible with the short haircut, but it's not as extensive as HL's actual bald spot -- so I expect that they'll still be using some product of some kind. That would also be appropriate for House since his longer hair would have hidden some of that area in the past.

In No Reason though, House's hospital tag stated his birthday was 11th June 1959. Which is Hugh's birthday

They did some re-working after they hired the cast based on who they hired.
Cuddy was 39 in the pilot script which was more realistic. She's 38 in season 5, I'm not sure how that fits in with her getting the job at 32 since 10 years earlier in Three Stories she would still have been an endocrinology resident.
Chase was supposed to be a radiology attending of 35 and Foreman a wunderkind of 25. Both House and Wilson were 35 - 37, which would give them a different dynamic than if House is 10 years older than Wilson. I think only Cameron stayed around the same age as the pilot script although by the pilot ages she would only have been 6 years younger than House, also a different dynamic than the 15 years they ended up being. Sometimes it's fun to speculate how the show would have been different as originally conceived by Shore.
