Wow. Hate 13 and Kal Penn/6/9. So, of course they're keeping them. blech. So much for trying to keep a glimmer of hope that I'd get some good Chase if I was patient. ::sigh::

I'm confused. Is it that they're keeping these particular characters that makes you certain there won't be any good Chase (I suppose I should just say this particular character, since they've only confirmed one, right?) or the fact that any new characters are sticking around? Which, we knew that some were. I'm just not sure how that crushes all hope for any good Chase.
I'm not saying that it's a guarantee that Chase is going to get good stuff (although I can't fathom a reason to keep them and not use them) but how can anyone know he won't get good stuff without seeing the episodes -before some of them have even been written? And, I really don't think the amount of time anyone is going to get once they settle down to the permanent cast can be judged by the weeding out episodes. Those are unique circumstances.

Okay, I need to return to HHoW to throw a small hissy-fit over NOT CHOOSING 24 to stay! SO MANY Wilson & 24 vs House plots lost forever! Not to mention 24 vs Cuddy. Damnit!
OF COURSE THEY KEEP 13 - because that woman really annoys me. She seems very like Cameron to me, in that I feel like I'm having her shoved down my throat and am supposed to like her and be curious about her. PLEASE. She stinks of stereotype; I hope House, MD can surprise me by proving me wrong.
I feel very meh about Kal Penn.

This number thing is going to confuse me. It took me three posts to figure out you weren't talking about choosing the Kiefer Sutherland series.

Right there with you! Except for 13, can we use their names or a phrase of some sort to describe the newbies. I apparently have no short term memory (or some of the NKOTB are not very memorable) and I barely remember who I am.
That said, who is 24?
Thanks.
I'm including my thanks here because it seems too far away if I simply reply. However, I hope that doesn't diminish my appreciation.
24 is the cut-throat bee-yotch.Thanks, SaphronGirl and Saara_Zaara :D

It feels very wrong to fangirl someone (more than I did previously) because they set someone on fire. But I totally do. KP/fire=OTP. I'm so psyched he agreed to stay.
I was delighted about Kal Penn - his character's sort of Chase on crack (seriously, setting a patient on fire?), but I think it might be interesting for House to have someone that he actually has to temper down, rather than get them to think more outrageously.IAWTC. I love it when House cracks and says "Stop it!". I'm pretty sure he hates saying that—I don't think he'd ever say it to Wilson or Cuddy. That was one of my fave bits of Forever: House trying to get Foreman to argue. I love watching HL play frustrated. So. Much.
Obviously they could make me hate all three of them within just a couple of episodes, but for the moment, I like the actors and at least see promise in the characters.Heh. Word. Once burned (I even hated House during WYD), twice shy. Please don't make me hate KP/Firestarter, writers.
And as much as I do like Scooter, I don't see his character as being that long term and permanent.I agree, I think I mostly liked him because he was the Old Guy Underdog and I really like House's bit to him about "It's not your dream title, but it is your dream job." But because the one thing he can't do is a medical procedure, I am convinced he's going to choose to/be forced into doing a medical procedure. And House will defend him, then Scooter will do/say something else stupid that only pisses off House, and then goodbye Scoots.

HELP! Remember the new cast interviews which were posted on youtube & disappeared before people could see them (particularly the Peter Jacobson one)?
Fox has reposted ALL THE INTERVIEWS http://foxflash.com/div.php/main/page?aID=1z2z0z247z1z9
THERE IS ALSO A NEW INTERVIEW WITH Edi Gathegi: ‘Dr. Jeffrey Cole’ WHICH HASN'T BEEN SEEN BEFORE.
HOWEVER - I can't figure out how to make the download work. Maybe its pc only (I'm mac), but can someone figure it out so we can see these!

What I like about these three choices for the new fellows is that none of them obviously mimic the characters or foibles of the original threesome. That would have been a dismaying development indeed.
We don't know that much about any of the newbies yet, of course. But it seems that Kal's character is a bit bratty and self-centered, with lots of moxie, energy, and quirky ideas he is not afraid to put into practice in pursuit of the welfare of the patient. He is smart, persistent, quick to act, and confident, good traits to have around House.
Peter Jacobson's plastic surgeon has already shown himself to be a strong, almost intuitive, reader of other people's motivations and emotions with a gentle but effectively pursuasive touch. I liked that he was the one that House turned to in the operating room to confirm that Chase was not just a figment of the imagination. I am curious to learn what mid-life crisis caused him to want to change careers.
Olivia Wilde's Thirteen has not made too much of an impact so far. But we did see that she is immune to House's usual shennanigans with the online dolphin porn and with the non-sequiter personal inquiries. She easily deflected his shots about her possible family problems and insisted that he stick to treating the patient. I liked that. She was also able to provide the out-of-the-box suggestions that led to the patient's diagnosis including being first to guess that Osama was someone who spent considerable time at high altitudes. So we know that Thirteen is highly intelligent, imaginative, self-possessed, quiet, cooperative, and shuns the limelight. I didn't get any sense that she is physically attracted to House nor that he thinks of her in that way either.
Time will tell with these three, but what we have so far is good news, IMO. What is especially good is that we will have new opportunities to further peel back the character of House and go exploring in that rat's maze of a psyche of his. House's interactions with CCF were getting mighty repetitive in my view and so I am energized by these new characters and their possibilities.
Maybe it is a fool's dream, but I am still holding out hope that Scooter will also find a place as an assistant on the team. I love the dynamic of House having someone older to bounce ideas off of.

Rat fart. I have a Mac too, and can't get the interviews to download in either Firefox or Safari. :crying:
Guess we have to make friends with a PC person or hope someone  can get them up in a usable format.
Rewatching TRS, Wilson totally said that Chase and Cameron were engaged before he called Arizona. But that may have been a lie too? Dunno.
Trying to deduce 13's deal, I almost wondered if it'd be something crazy like she's one of Wilson's patients (early stage, obvs) who wanted to work for House, and he passed on her resume and gave her some "dealing with House" tips. This was entirely based on her 1) not telling Scooter her name and then saying "I'm not getting invested" 2) House saying that "13" is an unlucky number and 3) a Wilson storyline would be cool! Rock solid, amirite? It'd be something House might not find out from her resume/his research if Wilson helped her cover it up (fake name maybe?). And it's not like House is on top of the faces in the hospital.
And if 13 does have cancer, that'd be a pretty solid reason to ship her with Cameron. ;)
And if Edi Gathegi's character isn't going to stay on (aww) I wonder in which episode he'll be fired, and if his religion will come up again in a more prominent way. Maybe during "Guardian Angels"? Which I kind of hate as a title, but whatevs.
And will Cameron teach Scooter the correct way to open House's mail, where the sugar is, and how to fake his signature (if she ever learned)?
:off topic: Greetings Ranee, from another Mac. The Box-free downloads on Amazon (or whatever they're called) for the S4 eps require Windows. :curse: Which, sure I could technically install, but like, screw that.

Don't you need a password to view videos at that site? I think vids are one of the protected items that you have to log in for. But, maybe I'm just pulling that out of my ass.
RE: Edi getting fired. It occurred to me that I'm assuming that all but the three chosen ones will be fired, but I suppose that someone could quit, deciding that it's not worth it. Maybe he decides that, while compromising his beliefs and religion is good when it comes to him giving his patients the best treatment, it might not be worth it when it comes to bending at House's every whim. That's probably not the case, but it would be interesting to see.

Yes, you need a password to view the videos. You need to meet their media credential standards to get a password. The Edi Gathegi interview and all the others have been there all along, teasing us poor guests with their inaccessibility.

 You're right, you have to log in, and to log in you have to have your "credentials" approved.
from the (ugly, with low resolution images! Losers!) Fox site:
"If you are a new user, member of the press, or a FOX affiliate and would like to apply for access to FoxFlash please click here to Become a member"
We don't need no stinkin' credentials. :ninja2:

I adore the end of the preview for next week. I'm evil. I'm looking forward to House electrocuting himself.
He believes there's nothing out there (after death), says so to Wilson and Wilson throws back: "You don't know there's nothing!"
Come on! How could a man like House resist a challenge like that? He can't stand not knowing something. He has to find out NOW. Alone. In his office! I love it!
Given the caveat that the FOX promo people are infamous for showing things in the previews in such a way as to completely distort their actual meaning in the episode so it might all mean something else altogether, I can only say that it might have been adorable (or do I mean plausible?) if it hadn't been for House's 2 1/2 near-death experiences we have already witnessed. If he didn't see the bright light at the end of the tunnel when he "died" during the infarction or when he was shot or when he ODed on drugs and booze, why should a. he see them now and b. Wilson be yelling at him that he hasn't been there when he has? Sticking a fork in an electrial outlet is the only true door in to the afterlife? If it means what it looks like it means, it's just stupid. Given his past experiences, I can't buy it that House's response would be anything more than been-there/done-that/got-the-t-shirt.
