So, did Ausiello just confirm a baby?
I think so and maybe even a baby boy at that. This is going to be... interesting.

I'm ready for some post-Thanksgiving House/Cuddy/Wilson fun.
Oh, word. I always feel so unAmerican for saying this, but I hate Thanksgiving. I always have, I always will. Most of it stems from the fact that I hate turkey so while everyone else eats themselves to death, I pretty much starve the whole day. Plus, I have all these final projects to do and, uh...I'll stop now, sorry.
So, did Ausiello just confirm a baby?
It's a little cryptic, isn't it? He could also be referring to a relationship between House & Cuddy.
LightMyCandle- 11-25-2008
Um, okay, I'm not going to freak out. I'm not. I'm not! I'M NOT!!! They've done great with not taking Huddy to the melodrama level, please keep it that way and for the love of God, keep House away from that baby. I can't have daddy!House ruining my Christmas.
travin1- 11-25-2008
LMC I don't think you have to worry about daddy!House, not in the least.
So, should we guess as to a baby boy's name? It won't be Joy :) Nor Cuddy's father's name, from her reaction to the discussion she had with the PI.

Is the girl singing lime in the coconut Becca, or just someone who kinda resembles her?
angelcat2865- 11-25-2008
I liked the part of the preview where Taub says that "House is going to kill us" and House respones "slowly and painfully." I wonder what they did.

Okay, okay, okay. Calming down. I just...will not watch that, not even my darling RSL could keep me around for that. I don't want Cuddy to have a baby, but it's definately preferable to House being a parent. I'm just hoping the kid just fades to the background and we only see him/her occasionally. And please, no medical mystery for the kid, please, spare me that.
Contrary to how my posts on the subject may sound, I really don't hate kids or babies, I just hate them on TV becaus they change everything, and by change, I mean destroy. I'm trying to think of a show that I love where a baby came along and didn't wreck everything. Angel, Charmed, Malcolm in the Middle, Gilmore Girls (kid, not baby, but still), Scrubs (love Jack but the dozen babies that came after him was just a bit of an overkill :D )
NightOwl- 11-25-2008
Actually, I don't think that introducing new babies to a show ruins a show at all. The reason I don't like them introducing new babies on shows is that they never portray the babies or parenthood at all realistically. And that drives me crazy.
On Friends, Rachel used to leave her baby unattended in hers and Joey's apartment, while she hung out with the gang at Monica's and Chandler's apartment. Hello! I don't care if it's "just across the hall." You don't do that! She also spent hours hanging out at the coffeehouse even once she'd had the baby. Another unrealistic thing.
Besides the first few episodes after the baby was born, they sort of made it seem that life hadn't changed much at all for Rachel. That it only took her a few weeks to adjust. It takes longer than that, and nothing is ever the same again. But tv shows don't portray that properly, because they don't want the dynamic among the main characters to change.
So I'd rather they just didn't bother with the unrealistic babies and unrealistic parents.

Yeah, neither do I. I'll watch a show about families if I want to see people adjusting to parenthood, or parent/child relationships. I will not watch "House" to see it become about a baby, or House bonding with a baby.
If they don't want the dynamic to change, it's pointless to introduce that kid in the first place. Why do they do it? Just to say, 'hey she has a kid now, ain't life grand?' So, it probably will turn out like Emma. It won't change the show all that much, or it can go the polar opposite and be like Wyatt (Charmed baby) and everything will revolve around him/her, and unless it's House child or he becomes like the surrogate dad, that's not going to happen. If they must do this, and apparently they must, I'd rather they go the Emma route.
Most of the shows I mentioned, the child completely changed everything, the kid was not ignored at all, the kid took over, especially on Angel and Charmed. "Malcolm's" kid and GG's just seemed like lame plot devices. Plus, the GG kid ruined my ship and then I had to sit through loads and loads of Christopher.

But... when you have a baby... life DOES revolve around that baby. The love you have for your child is overwhelming, and it informs your entire day. That's the way it is. Not to mention... taking care of them is extremely time-consuming and exhausting. So it sounds like Charmed did it somewhat realistically. Which is great for me, who prefers they portray it realistically... but I suppose it changes the dynamics of the show.
I never watched Charmed or Angel, but I did watch Scrubs and Gilmore Girls. I don't think that any of the babies on Scrubs "took over" the show; in fact, like on Friends, the babies were barely there and barely affected the parents' lives. Totally unrealistic (though it was slightly better than the way Friends handled it).
What baby are you talking about on GG? Are you referring to Christopher's 4-year-old daughter? I didn't think that was lame or anything; that was consistent. We saw reference to his girlfriend get pregnant earlier in the series, and as Christopher wasn't a main character, it didn't affect the show much. Even when he and Lorelai got together, the kid was hardly there.
See, unrealistic. UGH! I want Cuddy to have her baby, but I know it won't be realistic. Maybe at the end of the final season...
Oh, marykir, that is absolutely not Becca singing in the promo for next epi. Becca was played by Vanessa Zima, and I am well-acquainted with her face, because she looks exactly like her sister Madeline Zima, who plays a major and pivotal role on Californication.

See, I thought they had a great balance with Jack. Dr. Cox wasn't the main character and it was a half hour sitcom, so of course they couldn't devote lots of time to it, but I thought they handled that really well. It doesn't hurt that Jack is just one of the cutest kids I've ever seen. But Turk and Carla's kid and JD's kid and Dr. Cox and Jordan's second kid all came along so close together that it just ruined things for me. It wasn't the kids themselves, it was the fact that there was one and then suddenly there were three more. Pluse, I've grown to hate Carla over the years and all of her whining about wanting a baby and then more whining when she had the baby just made it worse.
What baby are you talking about on GG?
I said it wasn't a baby, it was a kid. I'm talking about Luke's long lost daughter that appeared out of nowhere and wrecked L/L for a long time. Which, really only further proved how perfect they were for each other if they had to introduce one of the most contrived plotlines ever just to break them up for drama.
My point is, babies have ruined enough shows for me, I'd really prefer House stay away from that particular storyline, because in my experience, it will not go well.
Charmed was essentially about three sisters and then became about Piper's (the oldest sister) son. Angel's kid...that storyline did horrible, horrible things to my favorite character that he never really recovered from. It made him hotter and totally bad@ss, but he was miserable for the rest of the series, so I'm torn on whether or not it was worth it, I lean towards not worth it.
But... when you have a baby... life DOES revolve around that baby. The love you have for your child is overwhelming, and it informs your entire day. That's the way it is. Yeah, that's real life. I'm talking about fictional TV shows and I don't want this one to start revolving around a baby. Again, there are shows where a baby storyline is fine to devote time to, but "House" isn't about that and I don't want to see episodes upon episodes about Cuddy and her baby, especially if it involves House bonding with said baby.
Haha, oh honey, Charmed is the most unrealistic show there is. It wasn't about the kid in the traditional sense, it was about the fact that he was so powerful and they had to protect him from all the evil demons and such that were after him, while his little brother from the future came back in time to warn them that he would turn to the dark side and then they had to stop that. It was stupid, even for a WB show about three witches in stripper clothes.

There was a legitimate reason for that "whining": She had postpartum depression. And PPD is very real and it sucks. I thought it was fantastic that Scrubs went there and was quite sensitive about a topic that is actually still somewhat taboo in our culture.
I said it wasn't a baby, it was a kid.
Yea, I thought you were referring to Christopher's daughter, who was a kid rather than a baby in the final season.
I'm talking about Luke's long lost daughter that appeared out of nowhere and wrecked L/L for a long time. Which, really only further proved how perfect they were for each other if they had to introduce one of the most contrived plotlines ever just to break them up for drama.
I actually forgot all about Luke's daughter. Shows how little of an impact that storyline made on me. Wasn't that the final season? That whole final season was awful. I would have preferred they let Luke and Lorelai be happy together, and it would have been a better season had Amy Sherman stayed on to run and write the final season.
My point is, babies have ruined enough shows for me, I'd really prefer House stay away from that particular storyline.
That's funny. You say babies ruin shows; I say shows ruin babies/parenthood. I'd like the show to give Cuddy her baby--perhaps even with House--but not until the final season, when I don't have to watch them make a mess of unrealistic parenthood.
And to stay on topic, I will go out on a limb and predict that Cuddy is not getting a baby in Joy to the World. I just don't see it happening.
LightMyCandle- 11-25-2008

What was her legitimate reason for whining before the baby? Extreme b*tch syndrome? Nothing made that woman happy, she may have had a real excuse that one time, but other than that, she never quit her freaking b*tching.
Wasn't that the final season?
I think it was the last two seasons, actually.
You say babies ruin shows; I say shows ruin babies/parenthood.
Maybe they do, but I don't really care. I don't care to see parenthood portrayed realistically on a show like this. It's not about that, it's never been about that. Even with all the cast changes, it's never been a show about family life.
And to stay on topic, I will go out on a limb and predict that Cuddy is not getting a baby in Joy to the World.
I hope so, but then what's with the title? And what's the miracle?
NightOwl wrote, "I really don't think any of them (episodes) will bring a baby to Cuddy".
That may very well be so. But there is still the possibility of a Cuddy pregnancy(miracle) that may or may not come to term. Per the "Let Them Eat Cake" promo, I don't think there is any trace or clue of previous offscreen sex between House and Cuddy that could have led to a houseian pregnancy in "Joy to the World". Still, the Private Investigator might have done the deed, setting up a parallel between Cuddy and Blythe.
So, it seems my detecting skills are less like S. Holmes and more like Capt. Hastings!
Being a Cuddy and/or Huddy fan, I would like to see Cuddy get some consolation out of her dusty and dutiful life. She never eats cake, she always finishes her vegetables. Maybe time for a romance with a man a la Wilson/Amber could be found for her before the series is over. The man could be, like Amber, a House character twin.
