I'd be surprised if he was smooth at comforting Cuddy.
Hell, so would I! That doesn't mean he can't try, though.
I think Cuddy would be more initially accepting of House's comfort than Wilson was. Once House really started trying with Wilson, Wilson had already given up on him. I think Cuddy's biologically programmed to keep giving House second chances.

Is episode 7 also the one with the misquito/exploding apartment dream? Maybe he doesn't want to sleep in his apartment after that, since he looks like he's sleeping in the Wilson scene and he looks like his phone had woken him up in the clip where Cameron says she tried to reach him at home.
Glad I am not the only one who thought it might be that.

I think what would be funny if House and Wilson reverse roles i.e. House gets to live a family life and Wilson keeps getting drunk and sleeping with whores
Soda, everywhere, all over my keyboard. Thanks for that image.
While I don't think the kiss will be the end of Huddy, even for now, I also don't think that anything will really change. I don't think they'll start dating or anything like that but I expect some post-kiss tension. I do think "The Itch" will address a lot of that, with them trying to figure out what they want from each other. I'd really like to see Cuddy be the one to say that them being together is not a good idea.

I agree. I don't see Huddy lasting, but I hope they play with the idea a bit, explore the tension, Wilson's shock (how fun), etc.
BUT...I hope it's a mutual decision they come to, not one in which House will again be left hurt by someone he allowed himself to get close to. Unfortunately...I don't think it'll get this far. My guess is it'll go just far enough to tease everyone, raise a few eyebrows (including Wilson's) and raise a bit of tension, but that's about it. Maybe they'll revisit a few years down the line.

I agree that nothing will really change, but there definitely has to be fallout.
"But Chippers," one may argue, "there was no House/Cameron fallout! It was just the kiss and then they forgot about it."
Very true, but look at the differing circumstances. The kiss in Half-Wit was fraught with deceptive motives. Both House and Cameron knew that the kiss was a ruse.
"But House kissed back!"
You don't say. I have two arguments for this. Either (a) House was just taking advantage of the situation to kiss a pretty girl, or (b) House was trying to distract Cameron back so that he could figure out what the hell she was trying to pull.
This House/Cuddy kiss is a different situation. For one, look at Cuddy. She is rumpled, puffy-eyed, and it wouldn't surprise me if she had just wiped away some snot. Probably hasn't brushed her teeth in quite a few hours either. And yet House still wants to kiss her, to be close to her, maybe even comfort her in whatever small way he can. That's... major. That is an attraction borne out of affection and caring, not just out of sexuality. For once on this show, one major character is reacting to another major character in a way that has nothing to do with deception or a tinge of malice. This as real a human emotion as we get on House.
Therefore, there has to be follow-up. Definitely in episode 7, undertones in episode 8 (though I doubt any substantial story time), possibly something major in episode 9, and if there is something in 9, then definitely something in episode 10. Past that, I'm not holding my Huddy breath (although it looks like in the screencap that House is. Aw.).

Oh, I didn't mean that I hope Cuddy breaks his heart, I only meant that I really don't want to see House running for the hills and leaving Cuddy with a broken heart. My biggest fear is Cuddy coming out of this looking extremely weak and pathetic, I DO NOT want to see that. So, yes, the mutual thing is the best solution.
"But Chippers," one may argue, "there was no House/Cameron fallout! It was just the kiss and then they forgot about it."
LOL, oh Chippers, I'm not going to argue with you. I agree that the kiss between House and Cuddy will be very different from the House/Cameron kiss. Honestly, the HAM kiss was just gratuitous more than anything.
I think there will be fallout from this. House just kind of went with it when Cameron started kissing him, here he is leaning in to Cuddy and he has a very tender look on his face. He looks like this actually means something to him, other than getting to make out with a hot chick. I'll admit it, it makes me go "awwww." :)

My Hammy heart will take (a) please Chippers
As much as i enjoyed watching it there was no deep hidden meaning behind the H/Cam kiss, she had a goal, he (being male) just enjoyed it :)
I will always hold the Monster Trucks up higher than the kiss.

Can I just say :D ? He does look genuine and that slight sigh if you listen closely, has a touch of vulnerability to it which adds to the 'realness' of it.
I'm thinking that this kiss happens towards the end of the hour, if not the end. And I'm thinking House and Cuddy have likely argued over her position on the medical situation for the birthmom & baby, he fighting for mom, she for baby. In the end, I'm thinking they try to save mom as the priority and that the baby survives...but birthmom decides to keep her (though I honestly would like Cuddy to get her baby). Soooo...Wilson knows what's going on and counsels House to either not be so harsh or have a heart kind of thing. House takes the advice, goes to Cuddy's place after work and is actually good to her (please let him be good to her) and the kiss just kind of happens.
And if the scene where Wilson is reacting to House is about the kiss...I'm guessing that will be early in the episode after Joy.

I assumed that it's Cuddy's apartment and House goes over to see how she's doing. It would be stranger if she went to his apartment for comfort, has she dropped all her girlfriends since season 2?
They've already done the "I can't bear to sleep here" when House couldn't sleep in his apartment after Cameron left in Role Model and he spent the night sleeping at the hospital in the same clothes he was wearing the night before. Sorry. Maybe it's a pattern for him.

Or both plus he had always been attracted to Cameron and this was a way to act on it without her thinking he's open to a relationship.
That is an attraction borne out of affection and caring, not just out of sexuality.
I agree. But it's also based on wanting to comfort Cuddy so we don't know what his real feelings towards her are. (I think the shoulder squeeze in Informed Consent was also based on affection and caring and wanting to comfort. )
Other than in the middle of the Stacy arc when he realized his feelings for her weren't only about getting her to admit she liked him best, House has never gone after a woman purely because he wanted to be with her. If he goes after Cuddy for a relationship after the kiss, that will really be a statement of his feelings.

What? I think you misunderstood me, I meant maybe House didn't want to stay in his apartment after he has the dream about the misquito because it's bothering him, so he goes to the hospital. It's got nothing to do with the kiss.
Or if it's the other way around and Cuddy is susceptible and open to being with House because she has just been dealt a devastating loss and wants something to help her to feel better and forget it. So Cuddy could be using House for that reason and thinking he is callous or resilient enough to not be truly effected but he could be the one winding up with the broken heart or at least bruised feelings.
Right now it seems that the emotions at play in the initial situation is not attraction or passion but sadness and loneliness on Cuddy's part and fear (of Cuddy leaving PPTH) and sympathy on House's. That could lead them to consider other things about the realtionship or it could more or less stop there.
sdemar- 10-20-2008
You know there is a great possibility that House will never mention the kiss to Wilson. House can keep some things to himself that are very personal. He doesn't tell Wilson everything and I would bet this is one of those situations that is kept between only House and Cuddy.
I agree. But it's also based on wanting to comfort Cuddy so we don't know what his real feelings towards her are. (I think the shoulder squeeze in Informed Consent was also based on affection and caring and wanting to comfort. )
While both situations may arise out of trying to comfort someone, I can't help but feel they are totally different. There is a huge difference in the relationship between House and Cuddy and House and Cameron.
I still want to know why House is not sleeping in his apartment. Anyone?

Some of us think it may be because of the nightmare House has where he blows up his apartment trying to kill a mosquito.
