WTF? Like all episodes, I watched that one repeatedly last year. In my memory, it happened in House's office. I just inserted my DVD and went to that scene. It's like a brand new scene to me; I do not remember it being in the conference room at all. Maybe I need an MRI.
Nah... you're fine. Happens to all of us on occasion. (To this day my brother insists that there's a scene he saw in the original Star Trek and he can describe every detail of it... only, it never happened. I'm pretty sure I've done the same.)
Uhm, and just to aggravate you a bit more into thinking you need an MRI after all... the KTAI/RTAI leather jacket patch (see HL thread) was changed in the same episode, not the next. (I just watched "Daddy's Boy" as preparation for "Birthmarks".)
I really would like to see that Australian promo.
LightMyCandle- 10-10-2008
How quickly can you get from New Jersey to Louisiana? Because, it looks like the trip and funeral take place in the same day based on the fact that House and Wilson seem to be wearing the same clothes during the whole promo. They couldn't have started early in the morning, because House is again in the same clothes during the PPTH stuff, plus they have their little run in with the law. It just seems like a lot to go through in one day and NJ and Louisiana aren't exactly neighboring states. Then again, I've made it from New York to Illinois in one day, so, it's possible. Maybe the bottle throwing scene takes place at a hotel, the lighting looks kind of dim in that shot.
I think the drugging seems pretty likely at this point. I don't know how else they would get House to willingly get in the car only to have him do everything in his power to stop or stall the trip more than once.
I do think it would be kind of funny if House collapses and wakes up and sees Wilson driving and that's the first any of us see of Wilson in the episode. Just for the inevitable, brief, "WTF?" look on House's face.
blackmare- 10-10-2008
I seriously doubt they drug House. I wouldn't put it past him to create or fake his own "medical emergency" as an excuse for not going, though.
I think he'll end up going, grudgingly, only because it gives him some time with Wilson.

(I blame the children. Motherhood causes memory problems in all things unrelated to the children. Really.)
How quickly can you get from New Jersey to Louisiana?
That would be a good 20-hour drive. I doubt they are driving to Louisiana. If the funeral were that far away, I think they would fly. (For goodness sake, House and Stacy flew to Baltimore, a mere 2.5-hour drive away... a mere 2-hour train ride away!)
And as far as I know, yes, you can be arrested in one state for an outstanding warrant from another state. They don't have to be in Louisiana in order for Wilson to be arrested on a Louisiana warrant.
Oh, and by the way... as I predicted an outstanding warrant... and a bunch of you (not Lully) poo-pooed me... I'm VINDICATED.
LightMyCandle- 10-10-2008

Then why the heck didn't Tritter arrest him for it or at least bring it up? Yeah, yeah, I know he wanted House, but he was threatening Wilson with everything else, it seems like an outstanding warrent would be good leverage, especially if his accounts were frozen and he had no way to bail himself out. Ugh, I hate it when they throw canon out the window like this.
NightOwl- 10-10-2008
Because if it's something minor (and I'm guessing it is something minor), then Tritter probably knew it wasn't worth any leverage. If it's something so minor that it just requires some paperwork getting filed or some technicality being cleared up... then Wilson has very little to be afraid of and just needs his lawyer to do some work. And it buys Tritter nothing. What's he going to do, arrest Wilson and keep him there until Wilson's lawyer clears up whatever it is? That really doesn't give Tritter any leverage over Wilson. Once the lawyer clears the issue, Tritter has nothing to hold Wilson. He can't hold him until he agrees to put House in jail; he can only hold him until the lawyer clears things.
Lully- 10-10-2008
I think he'll end up going, grudgingly, only because it gives him some time with Wilson.
I really like that idea, but I don't know... Maybe I don't want to be disappointed, so I chose the drugged House. I hope I'd be wrong, because it's such an inane plot

That's what I thought. I really don't think they were in Louisiana, it doesn't make sense to go by car such a long distance and it would be hard on House's leg.
I predicted an outstanding warrant
Yes, you did, NightOwl! Very well done! :D
I'm guessing it is something minor
It must be, because they managed to arrive on time to the funeral.

Okay, I gotta say it...Cuddy & adoption. Ha. And I'm guessing that scene with House in sunglasses...OMG scene, baby shop, is from this epi (and of course House finds out about it). Have they been reading 'Mine'? (God I hope not.)
If she has to decide between mom and kid...my guess is her first instinct is the kid, but then she decides on mom (because she'd be biased since she was set to adopt the baby). In a perfect story, both live and mom decides she can't give up baby. My guess is baby dies.
I personally would love to see Cuddy adopt a baby...for one thing it would put to rest any more 'is she going to have House's baby?' ponderings.
cindylouwho- 10-10-2008
So . . . . that is an interesting turn of events.
I'm curious how the Huddy kiss plays out and all of the things in the future (possible hostage situation) play out with all this angst and sadness.
blackmare- 10-10-2008
Oooohhhhh nooooooo not another Fetal Position episode, no no no noooooooo.
</whine>
Seriously, I ... I suppose I could deal with the adoption plot, except for the part about the mother coming down with some mysterious life-threatening illness, which, I'm sorry -- too big a coincidence. Mom changes her mind, fine. Miscarries, fine. Becomes POTW, oh, please no. Except, yes, apparently.
Ariadne- 10-10-2008
Is anyone running a pool as to whether Cuddy actually adopts this baby? Because I'd like to put in my bet for 'no'. (Also, with her schedule, why doesn't she adopt an older child?)
And how wrong is it for Cuddy to treat the woman when she wants to adopt the child? When Cameron left, did she take with her the AMA Ethics rules?
This is the episode Katie Jacobs said was going to look at Chase and Cameron's relationship. Why do I keep thinking I can believe her?
LightMyCandle- 10-10-2008
Oooohhhhh nooooooo not another Fetal Position episode, no no no noooooooo.
That's where my mind went. *shudders* Please, anything but hysterical baby crazy Cuddy again. I don't mind that she wants a kid but I cannot stand how nuts she gets when she gets personally involved with a patient and this is more personally involved than ever. This isn't giving me much confidence.
Also, that's a pretty fast adoption to pop up out of nowhere. If they had built this up for a while, I might feel more inclined to feel sad or worried but this is just out of the blue so I really doubt I'll feel that much besides annoyance as I watch Cuddy once again, lose her mind. I would also be more inclined to let her be hysterical in this episode because it's understandable, if she hadn't have done it at least three times in the past over situations that she could have and should have handled better.
Having said all that, I think the setup for the kiss could be very sweet this way. It doesn't have to be something that's all about lust and I doubt it will be a deception like the HAM kiss was, I think this has the potential to be very, "awww" inducing, the kiss, not the rest of it, because hysterical Cuddy? No, thanks, seen it too many times.
Wasn't this also supposed to be the C/C episode? Do they take on one of the patients while TKT take on the other one? Just curious, you'd think with how big a C/C ep. this was supposed to be, they would have mentioned them somewhere.

Word to this whole post!

I'm afraid Lucas' last day will be spent telling House this little secret he found out about Cuddy as an attempt to build up the storyline (along with maybe House/Cuddy talking about her desire to have a child...maybe her past attempts at conception as a reminder). I imagine he's spying on her, too.

Me too. Didn't LE say in an interview when talking about the kiss something along the lines of it happens in a unique or unexpected way? I vote too that adoption won't be happening, so either the baby dies, or mom decides to keep it - and that could be what sets up the kiss - House consoling Cuddy.

I'm inclined to say "ditto" on the please no crazed Cuddy episode, but the adoption storyline in itself doesn't necessarily feel rushed to me. From a purely technical stand-point, it isn't unusual for some adoptions to still be up in the air just two weeks before a baby is born. Our family had 3 weeks, maybe a month, notice before my nephew was born that my brother and his wife were absolutely going to be the adoptive parents. And from a story telling standpoint, I think they've adequately covered the ground that Cuddy wants a baby, so this is hardly shocking. I certainly didn't need an episode between Fetal Position and now to reinforce that point.
But yeah, I'd rather not watch Cuddy gnash her teeth and wail some more, because those are the scenes that literally make my hair curl.

Now you're catching on.
I suspect C/C "taking the next step" means they're now considering having kids since it's all the rage.
