Since we were talking about Hitchcock here, I don't know if anyone heard, but they want to remake The Birds Don't get me started...

Since we were talking about Hitchcock here, I don't know if anyone heard, but they want to remake The Birds Don't get me started... Makes sense. After all, the remake of Psycho was so successful.

I still haven't seen the ending of that. What happens?

galaxygirl- 10-19-2007

Oh wait it gets better, according to one of the posters at another board I post, they come up with a reason why the birds attack. It's going to be environmental. Of course. According to her that is completely missing the point of the book. I still haven't seen the ending of that. What happens? Here you go

Oh, The Birds? Really? Why? Why does Hollywood insist on remaking all of my horror movies and ruining them? WHY? Anyway, we finished Vertigo in class today. I was dreading the ending because I knew the class would either laugh or go "Whaaaa?" They went for the "Whaaa?"

arizonamyrie- 10-19-2007

Wow, I missed more than I thought. I remember seeing her at the school, and the birds gathering on the playground, but that was the last scene I saw. Wow.

gg, let it all out. Don't hold back. Can I offer you this:

I'm so sick and tired of Hollywood making unnecessary remakes and sequels. Especially the remakes. The memory of the rumor that they were going to remake Casablanca was enough to make me go

11 is amazing – the little pause before 'these go to 11'. Hehe. 36 did it for me. I was wondering if they would use Clerks for 37 but it does my heart well to know it made it in at 36 Does anyone here watch Life? Please tell me I am not the only one watching this show. Of the weak crop of fall shows out there, this one is definately a keeper

Of the weak crop of fall shows out there, this one is definately a keeper I'm watching "Life" and agree that it's a keeper. I love the quirkiness of Charlie Crews and the intensity that you know is just simmering under all that Zen outlook. Stylistically, it's great, flashing back to (often the same) interviews, constructing the timeline of Crews' back story. As far as the movie numbers go, there were too many good ones. I love many of the movies that were included (although not the number "one" pick.) Network (#63) The Awful Truth (#59) The Jerk (#73) The Hudsucker Proxy (#45) Monty Python & the Search for the Holy Grail (#43) Ferris Bueller's Day Off (#31) The Bridge Over River Kwai (#2 8) North by Northwest (# 26) The Natural (#16) Being John Malkovich (#15) This is Spinal Tap (#11) Citizen Kane (#10) Fargo (#4) LA Confidential (#3) --any one of these I'd recommend for some kind of time capsule. :-)

You can see this when Reese asks for his knife and he assumes the hands behind the back stance and how he feels about being cooped up(the fence/ always looking up at the sun).

Kind of a weird coincidence that both House and Charlie Crews ended up getting electrocuted in the same week and both lamenting the lack of an excitable near death experience. Though I laughed when Crews asked Reese the voltage she'd stunned the pool with and he responded "felt like more." I hope this show sticks it out. Seems like it could do better if it were in the hour earlier time slot.

Hi, I'm new but hope it's okay to join in. My current fav Hitchcock is Rope http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0040746/ My vote for worst remake of a classic horror/thriller is The Wicker Man http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0450345/ for both stylistic and political reasons. I have heard that Disturbia http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0486822/ is a darned good take on Rear Window http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047396/, though not an official remake but I haven't seen it yet? Any opinions on that? My fav under-rated film: They Might Be Giants http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067848/--if you haven't seen it, I really recommend it. And hey, there is even a House connection via the Holmes connection! The only other tv drama I watch besides House is Friday Night Lights which I think is really excellent. It's relevent, honest, well-written and performed and phenomenally well-cast. Love that show.

arizonamyrie- 10-21-2007

I've never seen FNL before, as my original schooling is to teach high school band, which didn't happen, so I've been veering away from anything football (and friday night pep band). I'll have to check it out. For TV I've been watching (aside from House) Heroes, Pushing Dasies, and Ugly Betty. I'm not normally a TV watcher, but it's happened recently. And I'll also watch Doctor Who when it's on (one of my faves), but it's between seasons right now both here and in the UK.
