"Irene" -- I like it, even without that whole Sherlockian thing in "Joy to the World." It's one of those old-fashioned names that's due for a comeback. And "Good Night Irene" makes a great lullaby if you don't listen too closely to the verses.
It also makes a great lullaby when sung by Hugh Laurie. Just... you know... food for thought.

You've heard HL singing it? Got link?
Unfortunately, not, but he sang it with Band from TV!! :)
(It may be in the
DVD promo. My internet is running too freaking slow right now to be sure.)
His "Good night Irene" is on the BFTV "Hoggin' All the Covers" cd. I think I also downloaded it from iTunes a while back. Very nice. Very little from the original version, but a nice arrangment with new words, new rhythm.
I love BFTV's version but the idea of House singing something that raunchy to Cuddy's baby... I don't think so.
Aw, he'd probably change the words to something Houseian but sweet.
But personally I don't expect the little one to be around all that long. Too many outs available to the writers: grandparents, illness, brain damage, social services, any or all could delay/stop the adoption or she just might not make it.
