... Cuddy I think is the logical choice for him. I'd like to see him take some real relationship risks with her. I expect the exploration to have lots of bumps, because their professional ties, never mind their personal ones, are full of tension. But sometimes that's the way things happen, and I believe that these two care very much for each other. I think you're right, they do care for each other and there is certainly a chemistry and a connection between them. The thing that makes them step back is that job-related power struggle. He needs her to stay employed and so he can do as he wishes and she needs him to pull off the steady flow of brilliant diagnoses. He knows she will police his extreme ideas and he knows he needs that, but he also knows she will go along with his ideas when they make sense. Having a boss that understands how he works and when he is on the right path is of utmost importance to him and he doesn't want to screw that up. She understands all that too, and because he does save lives and has a reputation that is worth money and prestige to the hospital that she cares for like her own baby, he has a professional importance to her that is critical to her. If they were colleagues, they would have tried this out and crashed and burned a long time ago, but the power struggle keeps them apart, but not that far apart, and they still meddle in each other's lives and are able to succumb to whatever attraction there is, because they're both very hungry for some real connection and they can find that in each other, if only for a brief moment.

I wish TPTB would read this post, because it used to be so, but I'm not sure it's any longer of the utmost importance for House to be facilitated in his work. His work seems like an afterthought instead of the compelling force it was in S1. His driving force now seems to be catering to his childish neediness and selfishness. The show is poorer for that.

What I want from season 5 is for House to mimic Don from Insensitive, telling Cuddy about how strong she was and saying "I'd like to go out with THAT woman". Or maybe I'd like for the Season Finale to be House coming back from his ketamine-induced coma. That'd be the ideal scenario. From the mysterious self-regenerating leg muscle onwards, we'd see that all the recent crap has been just a real bad trip. We'd still lose, canon-wise, some pretty great moments of the show, so maybe we should make a compromise here. Still suffering from weird effects of the ketamine, House began to hallucinate and mix events of his life with TV shows. So he thought he was partaking on a reality hiring and even imagined a romance with Cuddy, a tragic familiar moment, with the death of his not-father, and a fight with his best friend, all inspired by his soaps. But, in truth, more realistically, I just want this season to end. And the best I can hope for is a better sixth.

From the mysterious self-regenerating leg muscle onwards, we'd see that all the recent crap has been just a real bad trip. It seems you liked two years of the show, and hated 2.5 years. That's a pretty bad quota. I find myself wondering why you still watch.

Torture. I'm a POW and the warden is a big fan of A Clockwork Orange. I liked roughy 3,5 years of the show, to be a little more precise. Season 3 was a bit flawed but overall good and Season 4 had some very good moments.

What I want for Season 5: A redo.

to21be- 04-07-2009

I want for the rest of the season to be as awesome as the last five episodes. :D

Boffle- 04-07-2009

I agree to21be, but I'd even go a little further back, as awesome as the last seven or eight. HL said they are going out on a limb here, so I'm applauding that effort and expecting them to keep with both the procedural goodness and the character development. Peel that onion, guys!

I agree to21be, but I'd even go a little further back, as qwesome as the last seven or eight. Clearly I can't count. My math teacher knew this all along. :blushing: Time (and episodes) is flying by fast. Yes, more like 7 or 8 episodes.

i'd really like a character episode for kutner when i wrote this, that really wasn't the kind of storyline i had in mind :( sorry for the ot. what i want for season 5 right now is not to end on a shitty note. and please no sappy love drama.

DIY Sheep- 05-05-2009

I am chiming in a bit late for season five, but I heard about this Russian guy who was being operated on for a tumor in his lung. They opened him up and found a little six inch pine tree growing there - weird enough for House don't you think.

Taiga- 05-05-2009

I also heard about that. The news story was released on what was April 1st on the Russian calendar, however, so I think it's an April Fool's Day hoax.

DIY Sheep- 05-05-2009

That wouldn't stop the House writing monkeys!

Taiga- 05-06-2009

"Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not a gardener!".
