People Don't Change (IV): What You Want in S8 (NO SPOILERS)
Feel free to post your wish lists for Season 8. We've had this every year HHoW has been in existence so, here's a place for your S8 wish list. Remember, NO SPOILERS! I'll add that the final episode of S7 was very controversial. This isn't meant to be an extension of the episode, bitterness or satisfaction threads. We have those already. I'll start. I want Alex, Cuddy's assistant from Now What to return as the hospital administrator. (I don't care who the new dean of medicine is.) Thirteen started showing symptoms of Huntington's in S5. It's time for there to be more than a slight tremor in her hand when she takes a drink. If we're going to have focus on Thirteen (and I assume there will be some even if OW takes a leave to do a movie), I think it would be interesting if she starts showing some of the psychiatric problems associated with the disease and the other start questioning her ability as a doctor. I want Rachel Taub to stick to her "no children" policy and get an abortion and finally get out of Taub's life. I want the young nurse to find out and leave PPTH. I want them to write an interesting story line for Taub. I want Wilson to find a way to express his support and concern for House that he doesn't perceive as nagging. Loved the chicken bet and his victory dance when he won the bet about the prize fight. More evidence of his friendship with House would be wonderful. I want Chase to let his hair grow back. I'd love it if they'd revisit his faith issues. I'd also like to see him be the one to have the medical epiphany again. They can't figure out what they want to do with that character but he can be much more (and more interesting) than just being the team surgeon. I want there to be repercussions for House over his vehicular assault on Cuddy's home. I want the way they bring him back to the hospital to be credible.

I guess the wishlist implies that not everything we wish will be probable, so yeah. --I want to see House actually move on, but for better not for worse. It's asinine to keep applying the premise of 'people don't change' if there is absolutely no evolution in a character, especially the title character, after eight seasons. I don't care if he returns to PPTH, or he starts private practice, or if he loses his license, as long as he doesn't end the show being miserable. Pessimistic, cynic and with his usual jerkiness maybe, but not miserable. --I want House and Wilson to end in a romantic relationship. If that doesn't happen, I wish that at the finale of the series they at least end up living together, leaving the subtext open to interpretation. --I want House to eventually take the initiative to fix things with Wilson, even if at first he doesn't think he should AND even if Wilson has to listen to some hard truths from House in return. --I want to see much more of Chase. --I wish they brought Nolan back.

I'd like to see Nolan again (House needs him). I would like for Wilson to begin to really understand House--to be his friend, not his minder. I would like to see House struggle to get his license back, to pay a high price for the damage he did in 7x23 I'd like House to finish going through the five stages of grief over his leg. I want to see him lecture again. (for starters)

My wish for S8: - House brought back to PPTH in a realistic way after suffering the consequences for his actions. - A proper goodbye between House/Cuddy. - Exploration of House's parental issues concerning mom, dad, and BioDad. - House in therapy, because he really needs help. - More being done about his addiction to vicodin, and people stop enabling him.

Cool thread! I wish for: - House's focus to return to medicine again. One way to do that is if he has to fight to regain his med license and/or get back to PPTH. - I agree that seeing Nolan again would be great. Regardless, House's return to Vicodin needs to be seriously addressed in some way. - An actual storyline for Wilson, or at least an end to RSL being used only for comic relief interspersed with the requisite lecture. And if comic relief is a must, let it be the dry witty humor of earlier season instead of the goofy slapstick of recent ones. - Chase to have less sex and more involvement in the medicine. - Taub to have less sex. - A female character (I'm guessing they'll bring in a new one, possibly replacing Cuddy?) who does not look like a model and is not attracted to House. - Some type of general acknowledgement that people do not need to be in a romantic relationship to be happy. Which really shouldn't be hard on a show where everyone's romantic relationships ultimately implode.

Great thread! and my wish list for Season 8 Bring back Nolan! House really needs him, or at least a psychiatrist--a guy or a lady doctor with no romantic intentions with House. House in jail..at least for a couple of episodes. Something needs to give for his car crashing action. New writers! and bring Doris Egan back! Stephen Fry as the new Dean of Medicine. :o A great series finale, if 8th is the last, with Lisa E as a guest and resolve Huddy for last time...or not. ..and no dead House in the end. :(

Explorations of the quirky friendships between Foreman & Taub, and House & Thirteen. A resolution of House's pain management that includes no criminal activity. A return to medical drama and character development focus of earlier seasons, and an end to the soap opera. A dean of medicine who is actually competent and professional, and who does not take center stage. HOUSE'S PIANO.

I've definitely changed since this show first aired, and now really prefer just things to help others better themselves. For this show, I doubt these things would happen, but I'd like to see: Someone relatively "normal" that hasn't been corrupted by House or the idea of misery that seems to run rampant. It would be interesting to see a well-adjusted person interacting with the team, or even House. While the maladjusted characters are interesting, there aren't any well-adjusted characters left on the show to contrast against the rest of them. Maybe it just has to be a female doctor who is a member of the PTA and has kids to take ballet or piano or something. Other characters not really give "you should" speeches to House. If I want to see House lectured about his adolescent behavior, I'll spend five minutes with my family members. It's more an hypothesis of House reverting back to adolescent mentality because of being lecture as opposed to him actually acting that way to begin with. And as a series finale, if S8 is the final season, I'd like to see House return to that beach in the S7 finale, maybe as a retirement thing. New writers! and bring Doris Egan back! Stephen Fry as the new Dean of Medicine. Word and Word! And I too would like to see some of Cuddy still in the season resolving her life at PPTH. Then to be shallow because I just don't personally like the character, I'd like to see less 13.

Cuddyclothes- 05-31-2011

Season 8: I want House to face the consequences of his actions. He should feel remorse. I want him to act more like the responsible adult he was/wasn't through S5. I want more medicine, more interesting patients. Two words: CLINIC DUTY. As someone wrote above, Thirteen should start getting worse from her Huntington's, which would be a much more interesting B-story. Taub never has sex again...or at least this season. Make Foreman a pivotal figure in the overall arc(s). Yes, more Chase, more hair, more intelligence. More Wilson. And yet more Wilson. And then more Wilson. Wilson getting really angry at House for his actions, stop lecturing, and get a good story arc. House and Wilson make out furiously, end up in bed and the Season Eight finale sees them getting married. Greg Yaitanes is kidnapped. I'm just a cockeyed optimist.

Boffle- 05-31-2011

I want something different, not particularly more old-style House. We've got seasons of that already. I'd love to see him pulled out of PPTH more often (it won't happen) and go to Europe or Asia or South America to work on a case. I'd like to see him get an award for something amazing he invented or conceptualized. And then go to the awards dinner and someone gets sick... I'd like to see him each a class again, tell a story with resonance, something with heart. More House, the character, in general. I don't care about anyone else's personal life. Definitely no 13-Chase goings on. Just no. Less Foreman, but let what there is be an evolution in his character. Loosening up would be good. !3 should be getting sicker, calling in sick, less time at work, fading away until poof! she's gone. Taub should move to Utah with his wives and brood. Really, where else could he be happy? Spinoff called "Small Love." Wilson should never offer another word of advice or lecture again. No more trying to outthink or outguess House. No more bromance cutesie stuff. Just good honest friendship and/or competition. House should solve medical mysteries, really interesting ones that have paatients we care about, he should amaze us with all his different skills, abilities and strengths, get off the vicodin, and dammit, move on for real.

peggy06- 05-31-2011

I want House to wake up at the end of No Reason and for the rest of the season to get back to the PotW being the A plot, with solid medical mysteries and the occasional moral/ethical dilemma arising out of the potential treatment. And for House to be a morose and struggling genius. And for the clinic to return. They'd have to explain why Cuddy isn't there, but I'm OK with that. There could be lots of explanations. I'd also like all new writers, or maybe go back to some of the S1 writers, before the conception of House as a 13 year old boy. Never bought that, still do not like it.

DOB1234- 05-31-2011

Yes, there have to be consequences for House's actions. I suppose that Cuddy not being there makes that easier in some ways. If Cuddy has left the hospital for good and won't press charges then the consequences probably won't be severe. I don't care either way, just so long as it's believable and well done. I'll cast another vote for Nolan's return, but I don't think it's going to happen. Clinic patients! I'd like to see more humor, as in clever dialogue, not as in trip wires. Better POTW storylines, or else don't do them at all. There does not have to be a POTW in every episode. Let Wilson find a nice girl, get married, and have a kid. Have him take care of his kid instead of trying to babysit House all the time. Could we just see them being friends again instead of all the angst? Maybe they could show the people on House's team find out they can actually function without House and then towards the end of the season he kicks the old team out and brings in a new team of young doctors to train. I wouldn't mind seeing the show end this way, with House beginning again with a new team. Do NOT kill House. Anything but that. I'm looking at you David Shore.

travin1- 06-01-2011

I'm guessing that this entire series is winding down (not a spoiler, this is pure speculation), so I'd like to see a proper finale. I don't really care how it ends, as long as it is done well. I'd like Cuddy to have some kind of closure. I want to see a happy Wilson - whether it's a cancer kid who was cured, a marriage that will be long-lasting, or something. Less Foreman, more Chase. I'd like to see some sort of believability brought back. I'm not a finale hater, but I'm not a lover of it, either. I want to see House as the diagnostician who occasionally pranks his best friend, not as a human demolition ball.

Mer Duff- 06-01-2011

Bring on the angst, I say! And for comic relief, wordplay rather than slapstick, please. As a person, I want the characters to be happy, but as a viewer, I don't particularly want to watch it. I want ethical dilemmas that make me question my personal framework, and patients and cases that I care about. I'd like to see House being a good friend to Wilson and vice versa. But before that, I'd like to see a rift between them explored from both sides - I see their relationship as a balance of the Apollonian and Dionysian, so House without control and Wilson without release are equally interesting to me.

I'd like to see House being a good friend to Wilson and vice versa. But before that, I'd like to see a rift between them explored from both sides - I see their relationship as a balance of the Apollonian and Dionysian, so House without control and Wilson without release are equally interesting to me. I like this idea. And I love the analogy of Apollo and Dionysus, too. I'd love to watch how House and Wilson act toward each other without reason and release.
