Anyone else having a problem with pages loading when they post a new message (like this one)? Any ideas how to solve it? I'm on Firefox, and just am encountering this tonight.

It's taking me ages to get posts through, adnyes, I'm having the same problem. I tried to check the forum statuses, but it wouldn't load and the server died.

Gotcha. What's working for me, and I think it's posted, is just opening HHoW in a new tab after I hit "Submit."

There's definitely a hosting problem. I know server 7 has been down for the past 48 hours & the topic preview function is off. I can't even get to the forum help site, let alone the server status page, but server 10 is at least up, even if its slow. I'll update here as soon as I have more info what's going on, but they may be doing some sort of a restart or the system is over loaded. ETA, replies are loading, even if it looks like the reply page is waiting on the page to load. Just reload the thread you were posting at & you'll see your response.

The way I'm posting now is clicking submit, wait about 10 seconds, and then clicking HHOW Forum Index. It posts. Weird. EDIT: I tihnk it's calming down a bit. It only took 20 seconds for my last post to go through.

Is the server overly troubled lately or is it just me? Everything's reeeeaaallly slow or I'm just getting an error message. With the size of the community, do we need to move to a more capable server? Should we create a larger server donation pool or something?

Bailey, you're right, its been a problem. Our service provider has 30 servers & turns out we're on the one that went crashy happy a couple of days ago. We're looking into alternative service providers or at least a back up location within our current provider's system, but one problem is moving the archive we have right now, we may not be able to transfer it. If any one has any suggestions of hosts that they've had good experiences with (particularly server stability) please PM me.

The 'view new posts since last visit' feature isn't working for me at all. Okay, hmm, I'm not getting that error message - the feature is working fine for me. Do a restart/clean login with a clean cache & cleared cookies & let me know if you still get that error. I'll report it to the techs in the mean time.

I logged out and logged back in and now it's fixed. Weird.

Well, it might tie to the problems they've been having, so I reported it anyway.

Sometimes the boards will show threads with new messages sometimes it will show no new messages even though five minutes ago there were new ones there. Aslom, why don't I seem to exist on this board? I go into a forum and am never in there...weird

TC, check your profile settings. You may have it set to hide your on-line presence. Make sure you are logged in, then go to "Profile" at the top of the page & make sure that the option "Hide your online status" says "No" & submit the change. You must be logged in to show up and if you've got multiple windows open in your browser you'll only show up in the first until 5 minutes are up when you show in that new window (the system registers you every five minutes). About the read/unread posts - flush your cookies & make sure you are logged in and make sure you check the box which says automatically log in on each visit, otherwise things like registering your presence & the read/unread posts don't work continuously.

I have an issue that I think might be my problem alone, but I think it's better to mention it. Am I the only person who can read the white-out spoilers without problems whatsoever? I've tried fiddling with my monitor, the visual settings, the light intensity…etcetera. The only way I can make them (mostly) invisible is by turning my screen so dark I can hardly see the rest of the text. On the other hand, I've developed great reflexes averting my gaze whenever I see the word spoilers :)
