Oh!!! It's alive! What a relief! It's running fast for me, at least for now. ETA: Though, according to their clock I'm definitely living in the future

Poeia- 08-29-2008

What a different 15 minutes make. It's running well for me, too. ETA: And at 3:11 pm (or, probably, 8:21 their time) it makes molasses look speedy

Quick note by GG: I'm sure I'm not the only one who has this problem, but I can't post as me. For those of you who also have trouble posting, we suspect it might have something to do with the time problem with fixed. With fixing it, the board now seems to think my last post is in the future and won't let me post. I'm assuming that once the actual time of the last time you posted(in my case sometime around midnight) is reached, we'll all be able to post again.

Lully- 08-30-2008

This happened to me in the Spoiler Speculation Thread - and I think with others too - I just posted a comment and instead it to be shown at the end of the thread, it was shown in the middle. Though, my name is indicated as the last poster in that thread.

Lully, it is apparently arranging everything by "time." And, as the server was 5 hours and 20 minutes off for a day, we're all now posting "earlier" than some of the posts that are already there. Hopefully it will all get straightened out in the next couple of hours as we catch up with where the clock was.

Lully- 08-30-2008

Thanks ENB. I suspected the problem was the clock, but I didn't have noticed that they had adjusted the time.

Poeia- 08-30-2008

That ENB was me. But it wouldn't even let me edit a post in the "future." My last post was at 10:10 pm. It is now 10:12 in real time so this is the test as to whether we will be allowed to post once Forumer's clock catches up with us. Fingers crossed.

Okay, so it's now the correct time, but it won't mark topics as being read. And I have a hard time believing that there are really 84 people on at the moment, but maybe I'm wrong.

arizonamyrie- 08-30-2008

I looked at the 86 online - the "guests" are all people whose timestamps are still in the future, or at least show activity in the future. Also, you can't "read" something posted in the "future," so things are still marked as unread until that timestamp passes. It looks like as we all reach the time of our "future" posts things will start to normalize again.

Evil Nurse Brenda- 08-30-2008

I'm guessing that the board will not mark topics as read if they have posts in the future. The board probably thinks you can't read them yet, since it's in the future and all. I'm starting to think the board's name is HAL ;) GG, the last locked-out Mod.

Don't forget, now that browsers have tabs, some people might be keeping a tab open here so they can check periodically whether we're back (and whether they can post.) I think it's only 2-3 more hours before all this stops being an issue.

Lully- 08-30-2008

Okay, I should probably go to bed and forget the time problem until tomorrow, but now I notice that when I log out I'm also back in time! My last post in the Cafeteria was at Sun 3:17am, but after I disconnected it reads Sat 10:17pm. It's like living in a strange sci-fi movie... HAL indeed!

Poeia- 08-30-2008

Lully, it always does that. When you log off, it doesn't know what time zone you're in -- you are a "guest." So the time stamps revert to Central Time because Forumer is located in St. Louis, MO.

Lully- 08-31-2008

Poeia, I'm sure it's not what it's happening now. Usually when I access, the forum's clock it's at least 3 hours ahead of my time zone (I'm in South America). Now the clock, when I don't log on, is 2 hours behind my time zone. Also, when I do a post - like I did in the Cafeteria - it shows the correct time, but when I log out, the time changes in the post, something that didn't happen before. I already cleaned my PC, but the problem persists. I don't think it prevents me to post, but I'm curious if this is only happening to me.

arizonamyrie- 08-31-2008

Lully, here are some things you can try: 1.) Check under your "profile" that the time zone is set to your own time zone. It's set as +/- GMT times. For example, right now, the central time zone is GMT -5. 2.) Clear your cache and if you'd like, any cookies with Forumer in the name. 3.) If it's still a problem, reboot. 4.) And if it's still a problem after that, let us know.
