Licia- 07-15-2008

The forumer alert page says 10 is going to be up & down for a day for maintenance/upgrades.

Poeia- 07-15-2008

It's logged me off 3 or 4 times. Most of my posts for the last few days ended up with a blank page (and refreshing means ending up with a double post.) Opening anything takes an excruciatingly long amount of time... Since it came back from it's hour and a half nap, however, Server 10 seems to be doing better. Fingers crossed. I'd rather they do that -- take it down and fix it properly -- than drag out for days some half-assed fixes that don't work. ETA: So much for that theory. It took over 4 minutes from the time I hit submit until this post was up.

::tiptoes in:: Is it safe to come in here now? I'm on a Mac so don't think I'll have a problem, but some folks said there were viruses swirling around HHOW. So how you doin'?

arizonamyrie- 07-31-2008

It looks as if Forumer has resolved, or is finishing up resolving the problem. There hasn't been an official all-clear yet on the Forumer Support forum, or other announcements, but we look to be back up without loss of data. Someone on that forum did mention that it wouldn't hurt to run a virus scan.

jonne- 08-24-2008

Since yesterday I keep getting virus alert warnings on HHoW. My anti-virusprogram blocks pages and does not allow me to post. Am I the only one?

arizonamyrie- 08-24-2008

jonne, I looked up the problem you're describing in the main Forumer Support Forum and didn't find anything from them, so it looks so far that it might be on your end. But, I think we can still figure something out, so, first a question and then some things to try: Q: Which antivirus software are you using? And which browser are you using? Let me know, otherwise... You can try first by dumping the cache for your browser. Sometimes the older webpages saved in there can cause some problems, especially if they're are any left in there from when Forumer was hacked last month. I don't think you need to delete the cookies for Forumer, but if you'd like to, I'm sure it could help. Another thing you can do too is change browsers. There's a new release of Firefox (3.0) that isn't bad, and the Ad Block Plus works really well in there. I would also run an extra scan with your antivirus software and look for any additional ad/spyware that could be causing the problem. Let us know if any of this helps.

Poeia- 08-24-2008

Jonne, Firefox's "web of trust" on my Mac didn't show anything so I just connected through Citrix to my PC at work. I'm still using Firefox, but it doesn't have adblock and I didn't get any warnings. I'm going to log off and try on Explorer. Will edit in the results. ETA: Explorer doesn't seem to have any problems with the site either. I'd follow AZ's advice and clear your cache.

jonne- 08-24-2008

It's Norton Symantec phishing filter. I'll try your suggestions and get back to you if I can. ETA: things seem normal again after clearing my cache and cookies, thank you so much!

This isn't a serious problem, but I don't see where else to put it. Is anyone else getting times in the future on posts since the forum came back online? My profile says it has the right timezone setting, but for example Licia's post on page 591 of the spoiler discussion thread is showing up as Thu Aug 28, 2008 11:15 pm when it's only a little after 6:15pm here. I already tried deleting HHOW cookies & logging back in; that didn't make any difference. Because of the "editing profiles" issue, I didn't want to fiddle with the timezone setting unless I really have to. So...is it me or is it the board gone wonky? :) eta: I guess I can be a little more exact. It might be problem with the clock on the server. I submitted this message originally at 6:17pm, but the time displayed is 11:36pm. I don't think any amount of fiddling with the timezone setting is gonna fix a 5:19 difference...

arizonamyrie- 08-28-2008

Yeah, we're working on it too marykir. We think it's something to do with the server going down earlier this afternoon. Depending on your timezone, your posts are showing up about five hours and twenty minutes ahead of the clock. Right now, resetting your time zone on the profile does not work. And several of us are scanning the support forums too.

Poeia- 08-28-2008

I have a 5 hour and 20 minute gap. The server was down this afternoon/evening. It's much faster now but, apparently, forumer needs to reset the clocks.

Boffle- 08-29-2008

Glad to see us back, if we are.

I've noticed that this board has had a lot of problems lately and I'm guessing it has to do with the server host? The reason I'm posting here is...I have my own server and unlimited webspace and traffic and if you guys want, I wouldn't mind hosting the board for you. I could create an account for you on my server and you could move the board there. All I'm asking is $5 per month and you get unlimited webspace, unlimited traffic, email addresses, unlimited MySql databases, etc. Just let me know if you're interested to move to a more stable server. Feel free to contact me here or email me. My email address should be accessible via my profile.

Poeia- 08-29-2008

Glad to see us back, if we are. We are still 5 hours and 20 minutes in the future, but we do seem to be back. Bizarrely, we went through this last August and we were okay for most of the rest of the year. So my theory is, as long as they get it fixed by September 15... And it is running faster now than it did last week. ETA: That was wishful thinking. As slow as ever.

fffaw- 08-29-2008

Huh. It's running really fast for me.
