Ooh, Level Three. Did You Call Jack Bauer? Serious Problems
Is it an idea to set up some more specific threads in the off topic forum like a movie thread or a television thread for shows other than House? My experience on twop is that the hizzy is a very fast moving thread that jumps from topic to topic with the light of speed and it kept me away from it because I couldn't keep up.

Oh, the hizzy was generally pretty insane. I think if/when there are more members and the hizzy does start to become the fast-moving thread that it is on TWOP, we could probably think about splitting up the Off-Topic thread. For now, though, there's not too much activity, so there'd be no point. But yeah, once things are up and running, that'd definitely be something to consider doing.

Its really risky to do that over on TWoP & I'd suggest you not do so for a variety of reasons, not just the getting banned. Email folks, or pimp via personal lj sites to start with & I suspect you'll bring over most of the usual suspects. Particularly avoid any mention of TWoP or Bravo, just that its a new fan site. FYI, I'm not a copyright attorney, but IMO it would be a good idea to put a short disclaimer somewhere on the site that House MD etc is owned by..., this is a fan site & not intended to make a profit, blah, blah, just to be on the safe side. Your mod rules when they go up should also include a note about not copying copyrighted materials here, just post a link to the source site.

You're one smart cookie, Ranee. Now I just have to find a place to put it...

D'oh, how silly to even think about risking bannination. Email, LJ or The PM feature are all much neater and more orderly. Although I'm all for spreading the word fast and furious, Ranee's points are all very good. This site needs to be carefully run and not try to be anti-TWOP (even if it is) but rather should be Pro-House Fandom. That requires a FAQ, some general guidelines and a disclaimer. I know people were talking about those-has anyone started writing them? me---------->Loop

I know that 407 is working on the rules and guideline, and I'll help with that.

407- 08-08-2007

It would be really great if someone can write the rules & guidelines, FAQ, even the disclaimer. I have a couple of basic rules up at the General House Chat, but there's no real order to them or anything. Actually, I'm going to post a thread asking for help, lol.

Ranee- 08-08-2007

Give me a day or two (RL) but I can do the disclaimer for you.

407- 08-08-2007

Thanks so much, Ranee :D

Just wondering, because I have little experience with message boards: Is there a way to make it remember the last posts I saw? Or will it always take me to page 1 of a thread? Thanks for helping out the NOOB. *grins*

Hail the Random- 08-08-2007

407 is currently working on that.

407- 08-08-2007

I will find a way. Even if I have to hack into the main page coding again. It's creepy there...lol.

I'm there with the lurking sneaky advertising thing too. I have an idea who to target. Oh and here is a bit of an ad for LJ for you: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v18/Sheep/Sruffad1.png I didn't put in any links on the ad because I thought if you post it anywhere you need to have clickable links. He he he he. So much fun.

galaxygirl- 08-09-2007

That ad is amazing Sheep, I love it

saara_zaara- 08-09-2007

Mucho cool, Sheep! Is everyone aware of the "get new posts" link at the top of the home page? I've been using this to pull up new posts & it seems to work pretty well.
