Since I have no life, I was thinking about the season finale while in bed last night. I was thinking about how Cuddy said that she and House had only and will only have a professional relationship (or something along those lines). Last night I was thinking how that is wrong. No matter how much she may want to have just a professional, employee/employer relationship with House, she can't. The fact that what he said about Rachel hurt her so much, shows that what House says or does affects her deeply. They are too much in each other's world or universe to be strictly professional. Their relationshp fascinates me. I think they have tons of sexual chemistry, yet sometimes their relationship is like mother and child. It is so weird. I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens between them next season. Will she try to distance herself since as she said people close to him gets hurt? It was almost reminiscent of Wilson/House in beginning of S5. How will House act around her when he gets back from the hospital?

Just the facts, m'am (Dragnet) Gee, House and Joe Friday.... EEEEEEEEEEEEK Tritter doesn't count, folks! Their relationshp fascinates me. I think they have tons of sexual chemistry, yet sometimes their relationship is like mother and child. It is so weird. Yes, he's often called her "Mommy" in several episodes, or "Moooommmm..." like a sulky teenager. Also, if he is still in the psych unit in Season 6, doubtless she'll visit him there. MOD NOTE:Don't double post. Edit the previous post.-RSH

Yes, he's often called her "Mommy" in several episodes, or "Moooommmm..." like a sulky teenager. Yes, he does. It cracks me up when he does it, sometimes. Cuddy knows that she's "mom." I thought it was funny in "Alone" at the end when his back was turned and she entered his office. He said "I did it all by myself, mommy." She's like, "How did it know it was me?" I thought it was funny. Yes, it doesn't take much to amuse me. Also, if he is still in the psych unit in Season 6, doubtless she'll visit him there I think he will still be in the psych hospital at the beginning of S6. I don't know about her visiting him. I think that if anyone visits him, it will be Wilson. Of course, Cuddy will be worried about him and thinking about him. She always does. I'm just not sure if she will be able to bring herself to make that journey. I can see her going to Wilson and asking him how House is doing. Then of course, I think I'm horrible at reading the characters, so I could be completely wrong.

wackjob- 05-25-2009

Sorry if I double posted, I didn't mean to! I wrote an alternate ending for the finale and Season 6 over on the "crack" thread.

sdemar- 05-25-2009

How will House act around her when he gets back from the hospital? After House gets his shit together, I hope we see him use as much energy getting Cuddy back in his universe as he did with Wilson in episode 5. She is worth it. I'm curious to see how Cuddy's reaction will be toward House when Season 6 starts? Now that she knows it was all a delusion, I think she will definitely forgive him with respect to his comment about Rachel and the shouting from the balcony, but if she finds out that she was his delusion, I'm curious as to what her reaction will be? Also how much damage control will she have to do after what he shouted from the balcony? Will House apologize to her? I know he was out of his mind, but I would love to see him do that. It would go a long way toward healing their relationship and getting them back on track. Their relationshp fascinates me. I think they have tons of sexual chemistry, yet sometimes their relationship is like mother and child. It is so weird. Cuddy has always been House's protector but "mother and child" relationship with the sexual chemistry they have? I hear what you are saying but I don't think so. And that leaves me with this question? After giving us practically 2 seasons of them doing the dance, where are they going to pick up on this relationship? Will they talk and decide even though there are feelings, it isn't worth the risk of potentially destroying the relationship they currently have or will TPTB just drop it and hope we don't wonder what happened the last 2 seasons?

wackjob, I liked your crack. I'd watch the spin-off about Wilson. But why didn't you write a scenario for a spin-off for HL after House MD is over. I can see him with Joe Friday...House could be the medical examiner. I think she will definitely forgive him with respect to his comment about Rachel and the shouting from the balcony, but if she finds out that she was his delusion, I'm curious as to what her reaction will be? sdemar, I think Wilson is going to tell Cuddy everything he knows about House's hallucinations and delusions, except maybe the "One for each" part. When your BFF is fighting for his life you can't take any chances. Full disclosure. Wilson has to let Cuddy know that when (if) she visits House in the hospital he might be confused about whether she is real or not because he spent an entire night and morning detoxing and having sex with her in his mind. Now that House is hallucinating, at least he's no longer alone. But the only apparition he seems to like having around is Cuddy. Will SHE appear to him in the hospital too? I always thought House had mommy issues growing up with a mother that just stood by when he was being abused. Maybe that's where House learned his fatal flaw of inaction under extreme emotional pressure. Cuddy is like the antithesis of his mother, always there to save him when he needs it...until now. But wait, she was there in his head!

Wilson has to let Cuddy know that when (if) she visits House in the hospital he might be confused about whether she is real or not because he spent an entire night and morning detoxing and having sex with her in his mind. I agree that he will and should tell her that House hallucinated her, in general terms. But what good would telling her House imagined sex do for anyone? I can't see any benefit that wouldn't be achieved with a more general report, and it would just embarrass House and make things more difficult for Cuddy.

I'm hoping that through the magical power of television, Cuddy just knows by the beginning of S6. That way, it puts the power of rebuilding their professional and personal relationship in the hands of House and Cuddy, rather than a psychiatrist or Wilson, whom I assume would be the only other people who would know the specifics of the delusion. Cuddy seemed to move on from her anger pretty quickly during that last scene in her office; I trust her to move on from the awkwardness of the delusion itself just as quickly, and better yet to do it off-screen. It also would completely circumvent any potential drawn-out plot about whether or not he should tell her. She would just know, and they could move on with their lives accordingly.

Yes, I can see this but it is sort of a big thing that occurred there. I don't expect them to spend a lot of time on it but would love to see it addressed somehow. I also think it would be interesting to see the awkwardness between them over a few episodes after House gets out before either of them get their sea legs back. Of course, it will probably be like you say, Chipmunk. After all we never heard anything about the aftermath of the guy that shot House and if he was caught, still on the loose, etc..... I also would like to think that Cuddy can put 2 and 2 together and come up with a pretty accurate idea as of what took place. Wilson is her best girlfriend but House is Wilson's best friend and I think Wilson is going to be very protective of House and won't go blabbing what happened to Cuddy.

Yes, at the least she will have an accurate idea. But I honestly thought, and still do, that there was a 50-50 chance that House, himself, indicated to Cuddy the depth of their intimacy together in his delusion when he broke down in her office. There was a conversation there that we were not privy to. The last time we saw House in Cuddy's office he was in shock and he and Cuddy were awkwardly reaching out for each other, she with her left hand, he with his right.(left - involuntary vs. right - voluntary) His face was a stone. By the time Cuddy escorted House to Wilson's office his face was puffy and his eyes were red hollows. He looked as if he had aged years. Part of me believes he told her everything, causing his emotional dam to break from deep inside and creating that devastated visage he showed in Wilson's office. Golden Globe and Emmy! It would also account for Cuddy's aura of devastation at Cameron's wedding if he had shared with her his misery over the loss of his delusion about being pain free and in a relationship with her.

And that is possible. I do hope if that is the case, they let us know that because after giving us so much in reveal in episode 23 and then taking it all away in episode 24, I am yearning for something.

jim- 05-28-2009

...after giving us so much in reveal in episode 23 and then taking it all away in episode 24 sdemar, just like they did to House. The Paley Festival is coming up! How did the finale and the season move things forward for House and Cuddy as DS suggested they would? I hope they talk about it at the Festival. What does Cuddy know? "Both Sides Now" gave us a reversal and remedy of the adverse events between House and Cuddy in LTEC, at least in House's mind. In reversal of the boob grab, we saw the contrasting grasp of Cuddy's shoulder by House as he reached out for her healing support. The "I always want to kiss you." moment of truth in "Under My Skin" allowed House to acknowledge to himself how he feels about Cuddy. But, since the calamitous boob grab, House hasn't been able to move forward much with Cuddy. First, he needed to "talk to" the part of himself he kept suffocated and locked in, his heart, almost as much as the POTW needed to talk to his alienated left hand in BSN. Also, I think House has continued to torture himself, in some part of his mind, over that clumsy mistake with Cuddy, the part of his mind that is now in mutiny. Of course House couldn't willingly choose a path of emancipating his locked in heart. He had to be terrorized into taking the last alternative left open, which is the darkest and most frightening one too, the last resort. Thus, the harrowing finale. (House truly is the antagonist in his own story while playing the protagonist for others.) How better to terrorize House than to bless him with his deepest desires, a painless leg and the joy of Cuddy, and then demolish his happiness along with his intellect. And poor Cuddy always stands too close to House to escape the collateral damage, as does Wilson. How has House gotten himself into this mess? There were hopeful signs of House understanding himself in BSN. He spoke of the two hemispheres, "the breakfast of relationships", being the most important, which I assume is the relationship with oneself. In the past, House has gone to Wilson for support in the personal realm and Cuddy in the professional. And together, Wilson and Cuddy have functioned as an external balance for House. He also used Cuddy as a pseudo romantic object through the day and then went home to prostitutes. He even used a Cuddy look-a-like prostitute in "The Softer Side", complete with badly curled hair and cheap professional suit and blouse, as the woman to keep him alive through the night or prevent him from dying alone. (a precursor to the help from delusion Cuddy?) But by House using Wilson, Cuddy, and prostitutes as artificial devices to modify and balance himself (as the POTW used dangerous deodorants) House damaged his own heart, precipitated emotional blockage and misrule (seizures),and divided his "heart" from his "mind" (disconnected left/right brain) in a mistaken attempt to stifle his irrational and emotional reactions. Now, alone in the mental hospital, without Wilson or Cuddy to prop him up, House must learn to balance on his own, negotiate and communicate with himself and be his own savior. I'm confident HL and DS will make it a fascinating story that will mark the rebirth of House. Then, one day, House and Cuddy will be able to come together, not building up to it but simply matching up to it in final symmetry, or not. But at the very least, I don't think DS will want to tease us again as he has teased House over Cuddy. DS did do it to some purpose, the first step toward the emancipation of House's heart and the balancing of his mind. I hope we find out more at the Paley Festival.

jim, I always love your posts. This one is no exception: The Paley Festival is coming up! How did the finale and the season move things forward for House and Cuddy as DS suggested they would? I hope they talk about it at the Festival. What does Cuddy know? Again, jim I'm always facinated by your posts. And it's not only what you say, but how you say it...thanks. In the Episode Title vein, if I could take the liberty of isolating some of your other well turned phrases in this post as proposed future Episode Titles (and keeping on topic, making them related to House/Cuddy): Reversal and Remedy Healing Support Moment of Truth Too Close Collateral Damage Balance This is fun. Now, as a challenge to other users / posters: Come up with a short blurb describing what happens in each of these proposed episodes.

jim- 05-30-2009

HL, thanks for playing and you spotted all of them! And thanks for the kind words. I too enjoy your posts, they are especially memorable in their insight. A short blurb about a proposed title...that's going to be fun to think about. :-)

HL61159- 05-30-2009

And with also wanting to be able to have a tie in to the POTW, I really wanted to include Calamitous Boob Grab as one of the proposed future Episode Titles, but just couldn't bring myself to do it... (Is my tongue, which is firmly implanted in my cheek, visible on the outside of my face???)
