The thing that I like best about the better sort of PWP is that they're not plotless, and hardly pointless. Everything that you can say about two characters and their relationship, you can say in these moments when they're more themselves than at any other time. For House and Stacy, it's this overwhelming sense of anger and desire, of what should have been and what definitely isn't. This is a short piece, but I loved its characterization of both of them; plus, hey, it's hot.

I strongly and heartily second Zulu's Porcelain. It's such an interesting subject - what if? - and I think after Three Stories, almost everyone wondered how House would have treated amputation if it were anyone's leg but his own. Well, it's not just anyone here, it's Cuddy. One of the best things about this fic is how you can pinpoint the exact differences between House and Cuddy's cases - what each would have done differently, how the doctors would have treated them differently - until they both ultimately reach the same place in time. Also, the fact that this story hurts so very very much, and yet there are still moments in it that will make your heart melt.
