Fic Name: First Woman (West Wing crossover) Author: ljemanja Pairing/Rating: Cuddy/CJ, PG-13. Summary: Years after they've last seen one another, Cuddy gets invited to an event at the White House. Okay, so I'm sure any one of you who likes Cuddy likes her for different reasons, and I'm also pretty sure many of those reasons include her being one of the most kickass female characters on TV. Now take CJ Cregg, another comepltely awesome woman in power, and put her in the same fic with Cuddy - where can you go wrong? (Answer: you can't). The voices are great, and Cuddy just glows from CJ's POV. ljemanja create a beautiful backstory for them both, some excellent dialogue, and a wistful/bittersweet kind of atmosphere, because CJ's in the White House, and Cuddy's running a hospital, and there are things they both had to sacrifice. (I will add that the girlslash pairing is very subtle, as it's more about their relationship than a sexual relationship, and that the first comments on the fic all start with "I didn't watch TWW but I loved this" - so even if you didn't watch TWW, go read anyway :-)) (Also - zulu and blackmare, thanks for the rec :-))

Another rec for Three Dreams. It couldn't have been recced at a better time, either, considering my griping about out-of-character Stacy in the other thread. Here we have a nice in-character look at Stacy that's sweet and touching and heartbreaking. It's a really lovely piece.

Enthusiastically seconding nakeno's Carpet Burn, also one of my fave House/Wilson fics. Very smutty but great characterization in this story and that makes it more than PWP in my opinion. I don't know if smut can be tasteful, but some of it rises above the genre and is downright classy, in my opinion (as someone who adores well-written H/W pornography)

Fic Name: The Shortest Distance Author: Sam_Storyteller Pairing/Rating: House/Cameron, R. Summary: The team loses a patient, and everybody deals with it differently. Cameron finds out how House copes. What I like about this story is that it takes its time. It's substantial; it doesn't assume everything in the opening paragraphs. The opening that Sam Storyteller gives Cameron to learn something about House is believable, and I was willing to follow along and find out where that revelation took them. Best of all, Cameron makes House laugh: and really, I think, isn't that the best way to catch his interest? There's a strong friendship here between House and Wilson as well. No one is demonized or found lacking in order to make the 'ship work.

It's a sensual trip into Cameron's head during the meth experience, the author's skill in spinning descriptive phrases pulling the reader right into the scene. Being that a couple of pages ago, we were mourning the lack of good Cameron fics, I urge you to go read. And review! She has far too few reviews, and I'd like to encourage her to write more Housefic.

I'll second Danse Russe. I have this blanket dislike of all stories posted on the Pit, but you know what? I overcame my prejudice and really enjoyed the result. If a story's good enough to do that, then you know it's worthwhile.

But for now: Title: Band Of Gold Author: karaokegal Pairing: House/Cameron-established relationship. Rating- No smut. Adult themes. Word count: 2711 Summary: Cameron learns some painful truths on her way to the altar. I love the way karaokegal writes H/W friendship, and we get some of that here. We also get a non-evil Stacy and a very low level of shmoop. KG writes really sharp, smart banter. You'll wince at least once in just about every fic she writes. :wink:

Title: Dauerschlaf Authors: nakeno and recrudescence Pairing: House/Wilson Rating: NC-17 Summary: The missing scene from "Resignation," where House and Wilson have crazy amphetamines-fueled sex. Filled with lots of original, refreshing images. The language itself is fluid and breath-taking. A lot to absorb here besides all the hot, hot sex.

Fic Name: Tactical, Advances and Otherwise Author: Rwryter Pairing/Rating: House/Wilson, also John and Blythe, PG. Summary: House's parents drop by unexpectedly, and find out about House and Wilson's relationship This was a good read; I really appreciated the characterizations of both John and Blythe, who are themselves while still able to be individuals apart from fanon. Since we were talking about abusive-or-not!John a few days ago on the discussion thread, I wanted to point out this story as something that gets his characterization, perhaps not "right" (whatever that means), but interesting and, to my mind, believable.
