Not Abe Vigoda: The Death ThreadFinally, a chance to discuss the most recently deceased celebrity.
And to check to make sure Abe Vigoda is still with us:
As of 2:58 PT Aug 6,2009--Abe Vigoda is Alive
Here's the trailer for
The Breakfast Club. As if anyone needs to be reminded what it's about.
RIP John Hughes, the man who defined teen drama. I live about a mile from their house, my cousin is best friends with his wife so my Great Aunt was calling our house all morning trying to tell my Grandmother. I've personally never met the man but I've only heard good things. Very sad day indeed. Why is everyone dying? I know that's a ridiculous question, but it's sad all the famous deaths lately.
My favorite John Hughes movie is Ferris Bueller.
Love the tread title RSH.
That was so wonderful. What a kind, sweet man.
That was so wonderfully touching. He will be missed. I missed Breakfast Club, but Ferris Bueller's Day Off will always be one of my favorite movies. Now I need to see Breakfast Club. And that blog post is wonderful as well and showed even more that he was willing to give up Hollywood so his sons could have a better life.

It made me weepy too. I thought he was amazing before due to his work, but as a person, I didn't know much about him. That just boosted him into the stratosphere - what a lovely man.
Looking more into his work I realize that the only movie he was involved with that I did not see is The Breakfast Club. Many of those movies he worked with are still staples in my life and are watched when shown on TV.
What a wonderful remembrance. It made me tear up a little bit.
Aw. Willy de Ville died. I loved him, didn't know he was ill.
Willy DeVille died? Oh that sucks!
(and Abe Vigoda is still alive)
We know that, which is why the thread is named Not Abe Vigoda.
Aw,
Eunice Kennedy Shriver died. Somewhere the Special Olympians are cheering for her. It was an amazing thing she started.
ETA quote from her son Robert in the story linked above:
“My mom never ran for office, and she changed the world. Period. End of story.”
Thanks for the link, Namaste. That's a wonderful and well-deserved obit.
I guess you'd have to be a pretty diehard fan of folk music to know about him but I was so sad to learn of Mike Seeger's death. He was way more than Pete's half-brother. He was a lifelong traditional musician whose "music from the true vine" inspired and educated so many people to enjoy and learn to play traditional American roots music. RIP Mike.
