Very sad. The way he handled his death was truly courageous. I just looked back. We've talked about 44 deaths this year. Granted, some of them were more obscure than others, but that's still a lot of death.

fffaw- 09-14-2009

He fought long and hard. May he rest in peace. 2009 sucks like a Hoover, deathwise. :-(

Namaste- 09-14-2009

Geez, this month has suddenly turned morbid. You actually hate to click on this thread. Is it bad that my first thought of Swayze wasn't one of his typical roles, but an appearance he did on Oprah when he danced with his wife. They just looked so happy together, and despite so many "tough guy" roles, he always loved dance as well and represented that.

radiosweetheart- 09-14-2009

Thank you for reminding me of that Oprah show. They were such a loving couple. He never took himself too seriously--case in point, that great appearance on SNL when he was auditioning for Chippendales.

RIP Patrick. He held on longer than expected. Chippendales skit. It's so sad that they are both gone now :(

My heart broke a little bit when I heard the news. It wasn't at all unexpected, but it was still a kick to the gut. My childhood is dying off entirely too quickly. Both I *and* my idols are too young for this shit. I'm spending my weekend doing nothing but watching "Dirty Dancing" and "Point Break" on a continuous loop.

radiosweetheart- 09-14-2009

Leaving Road House out of that loop would be a damn shame.

Poeia- 09-14-2009

I just had to link to clips from the 2 Patrick Swayze movies that always put a smile on my face: Dirty Dancing and the "so bad it's good" To Wong Foo

Housewhore4- 09-15-2009

God, I'm supposed to be writing an article for Journalism and instead I'm sitting here, watching Patrick Swayze videos and getting severely depressed. I knew his life expectancy was cut short because of cancer, but in the back of my mind, I never really accepted that, or anyone circumstances for that matter. I want to go back to bed and watch Dirty Dancing

amysusanne- 09-15-2009

Leaving Road House out of that loop would be a damn shame. "I want you to be nice until it's time to not be nice." Unless I'm getting my magazine lists mixed up (it could easily be EW), Rolling Stone included cable repeats of "Road House" on it's 50 best things about tv. And I have to agree. You channel surf past, you have to stop.

radiosweetheart- 09-15-2009

That's true, it's impossible to not watch at least a little bit of Road House whenever it's on. That movie is just too much. Kevin Smith had a nice Twitter tribute: "Dalton's closed the Double Deuce. Sam can finally rest. Bodhi's catching that last, big wave. Godspeed, Mr. Swayze. Many thanks for many Friday nights: RED DAWN, OUTSIDERS, YOUNGBLOOD, DIRTY DANCING, ROAD HOUSE, GHOST, POINT BREAK. Hope you had the time of your life."

fffaw- 09-15-2009

I've gone too long without rewatching Point Break. I think it's time.

amysusanne- 09-15-2009

Bodhi's catching that last, big wave. Awww. I almost tweeted someting about the hundred year storm, but it just sounded douchey, so I dumped it. I've gone too long without rewatching Point Break. I think it's time. It's amazing to me that it is simultaneously a totally cheesy movie and beautifully shot film. Bigelow rules. Plus, you know, I will never, as long as I live, tire of randomly barking out "I am an F...B...I...agent." Love it. eta: We'll always have Patrick Swayze Christmases. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ZyJCV_dyug

And another one. RIP, Henry Gibson: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WIWq3qikXo

galaxygirl- 09-16-2009

Sad :( I loved him as a recurring judge on Boston Legal.
