Read his comics a lot in my teen years. I even remember seeing him around town a few times back home. He was a very strange man, but he really worked that strange to his advantage.

Journalism legend Daniel Schorr has died. One of the handful of people still left from the Edward R. Murrow days, and who spanned to the Twitter age. Even Nixon couldn't take him down.

I hope I'm allowed to say this: It's been a couple of days, but I want to mention Sokratis Giolias, the Greek reporter who was murdered on Monday. Today they decided to shut down the blog that caused it all... For the first time ever, I am embarassed for my country.

Pffffft, you wouldn't even be familiar with Greek politics if you live here. Nobody does. They said that a terrorist organization killed him, but he wanted to publish a newspaper, so whatever it is he was planning to reveal in there is why he died. And then they got the others to even shut the blog down. It's such a shame...

Maury Chaykin passed away.

I was coming to say that -- I loved his Nero Wolfe, but when you look at his credits, he was in so many things I really loved.

And on his birthday! How sad.

He was in Wilby Wonderful and due South. Too bad he had to die for me to learn his name, I quite enjoyed his work.

I'd first seen her in "The Homecoming" -- essentially the pilot for "The Waltons" -- and when I later saw her in "Hud," it was like a revelation. The woman was an amazing actress and individual.
