Designing Women was so great. Julia Sugarbaker was a BAMF.
Now this is a crying shame. According to Dixie Carter's NYTimes
obit, she received only
one Emmy nomination, and it was for her recurring portrayal on "Desperate Housewives."
A bit of follow-up about
Malcolm McClaren: it is suspected that abestos exposure from his punk shop may have done him in....30 years ago.
Wow, that's scary and sad :(

Bless. This made me smile. He would have loved it.
Just saw that news and was coming over here to post it. So sad.
Until I read Lynn Redgrave's obit I didn't know that Corin died a month ago. Vanessa is the only one of that generation left. And, with Natasha gone, the only actors in the next generation are Joely and Gemma.
Sad.
Lena Horne died on May 9 at 92 years of age. She was one of the first black performers signed to a long term contract by a Hollywood studio as well as a popular singer.
Beautiful voice, beautiful woman.
The link is to Stormy Weather, of course.
Hearing her here
singing to Kermit made me cry
Wonderful voice, brave woman.
For the science geeks among us - Martin Gardner, long time Scientific American columnist, author, debunker of so-called psychics and other pseudoscientific ideas, mathematician, popularizer of mathematical puzzles and much more died Saturday at age 95.
Another TV notable died today - Art Linkletter, host of 1950s and 1960s shows People are Funny and House Party. He was 97. He also was the author of the book "Kids Say the Darndest Things", a collection of quotes from kids.
I remember him so well from when I was a kid. I'm ashamed to say I didn't realize that he was still alive.
