I knew her in 8mile and saw Uptown Girl with Jesse. She was such a cute girl. RIP.
I am so surprised that no one already posted this - perhaps alot of folks here are too young to remember her?
Olivia from Sesame Street has passed away.
I saw a reference to that, but never saw it confirmed elsewhere. (I'm actually a bit too old to have been part of the Sesame Street generation, so I was aware of her, but she was an "Oh yeah, that one" kind of person.)
Yeah, me too, but I definitely remember her from watching with my nieces and nephew when they were growing up.
She was on TV a lot when I was a wee lass. Not only was she on Sesame Street but she was on 227.
I KNEW that I remembered her from something else besides Sesame Street! 227 was part of my Saturday night line-up.
I remember '227' -- it was an excellent show. And now Arnold Stang, longtime comic character actor, has died at age 91. He was very funny, "back in the day."
Damn. Billboard has reported that Vic Chesnutt passed away. Death just has to put a few more notches on his belt before the year ends. Damn.
There's a couple of sources saying that the death rumors are untrue, but that he is in a coma (which Kristen Hersch reported on twitter). I'm going to hang onto hope that Billboard is wrong.
Me too. I saw some of of those sources. The WSJ is reporting that he is still alive but in a coma.
NYTimes and other reports now say
he died.
I worked a couple of his shows. He was a great musician.
Art Clokey, the creator of
Gumby and Pokey and Davey & Goliath has died.
According to his obit, his father died when he was a boy, and his step-father put him in an orphanage, forcing Clokey's mother to choose between her son and her new husband. Hard to believe that a guy with that kind of childhood could create such a happy creature as Gumby. (Or maybe the fact he worked in clay says something about his own resilience.)
A moment, please, to remember a very brave woman,
Miep Gies.
