Anyone remember Remote Control? Ken Ober died. Yeah, Remote Control. Holy shit. Ken Ober was young. Got my first sighting of Colin Quinn on Remote Control, too.

amysusanne- 11-17-2009

I'm totally bummed about his death. "Remote Control" (and the 1/2 hour comedy hour) was a late 80s constant in my house. I was nuts about Ober and Quinn. I wish that MTV2 (which had a good run with repackaged 90s clips this summer) would set aside a little block for some RC repeats this weekend in honor of one of the last truly fun things the network produced. The crazy that happened on twitter yesterday was like being in celebrity death bizarro world. Usually the hoax is that the celeb has died. In this case, in spite of multiple sad confirmations from people who would know, the hoax remained that the death itself was a hoax. I held out hope, but after a couple of hours it was finally confirmed by his people. It was very sad. On a happier note, tons of clips!!!: http://www.buzz-bin.com/ ETA: !!! Per Dave Holmes, MTV *will* be running some eps of RC, most likely late tomorrow night.

WAH!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so upset about this: Jeanne-Claude died! I can't imagine Christo without her. They did some beautiful & visionary work. Spending time at The Gates is one of my favorite memories of all the years that I have lived in NYC.

Chipmunk_love- 11-19-2009

Oh, that one's so sad. :(

Namaste- 12-04-2009

How about marking the death of someone who's name I never knew, but whose voice I heard throughout adolescence? Alan Woolfson was half of the Alan Parson's Project and lead singer of Time, died on Wednesday. at the age of 64.

Namaste- 12-20-2009

TMZ is reporting that Brittany Murphy died. I've seen her in "Clueless" and "Eight Mile." (And not to speak ill of the dead, but I liked her looks much more in Clueless. She got way too Hollywood skinny after that.)

Poeia- 12-20-2009

Very sad. Much too young. CNN hasn't picked it up yet, but Yahoo has. Oddly both reports refer to the house as being her husband's. Wouldn't that make it her house too? Yahoo has a link to a bizarre photo gallery of Stars Gone Too Soon.. If you're going to include Jame Dean and Kurt Cobain, don't people like Jim Morrison belong there? But the really odd inclusions are Paul Newman and Estelle Getty (but not Bea Arthur). The world is a much poorer place without Paul Newman, but I can't say anyone in their 80s died prematurely. ETA: CNN has it too now. They must have confirmed it.

galaxygirl- 12-20-2009

The hospital spokeswoman confirmed it. So sad. People on other boards are saying she might have died of eating disorder related illness.

radiosweetheart- 12-20-2009

That is so sad. There's no way to make someone dying at 32 not sad, but I do hope it wasn't because of drugs or an eating disorder. I already miss King of the Hill, now I have to accept there definitely won't be any more episodes. Maybe "Gone too soon" is just used to refer to people we would've rather have live forever? I'd include Bea Arthur in that, tho.

filmlover- 12-20-2009

Oh my goodness. I am beyond shocked. So sad.

fffaw- 12-20-2009

I have to say, when I first saw the headline, I wondered if it were drugs or suicide. She's had a very tumultuous life filled with rumors of drugs and instability. She just got fired from a movie she was filming in Puerto Rico at the end of last month and her husband is rather sketchy. She seems like a sweet girl who was a lost soul. May she rest in peace.

Chipmunk_love- 12-20-2009

On a scale of one to sucky, this ranks a "major fail" on the universe's part. Deepest of deep condolences to her family.

galaxygirl- 12-20-2009

The husband is really shady, reportedly he doesn't want an autopsy. The autopsy will still be performed.

fffaw- 12-20-2009

I'm glad they are doing an autopsy. He's creepy. The poor girl was so emaciated in the most recent picture I saw of her.

Housewhore4- 12-20-2009

The husband is really shady, reportedly he doesn't want an autopsy. The autopsy will still be performed. Well, some people don't believe in autopsies, but if no one knows what happened, I'd think it's necessary. Such a tragic death, I can't believe it. You know, we already seemed to mark 2009 as the shittiest year when it came to celebrity death, and apparently it just wants to squeeze a few more in before New Years
