I loved the part when Ianto was SPOILERsitting in the mind probe chair --also when he jokingly told Jack, "Shivers down my spine." I wonder if TPTB are setting Ianto up for some sort of breakdown. I love the relationship between Ianto and Jack, but I definitely don't think that they are OTP. Maybe TPTB are pushing them closer only to set up some sort of rift between them. No pun intended with the usage of the word rift. SPOILER

I thought that in Episode 2 that SPOILER Ianto was uber-cheeky, cocky even. In Episode 1, he seemed so jealous and unsure with John around. Perhaps now that John is gone and Jack said no to going with him and the Jack/Ianto date is to come, he's feeling a bit happier? SPOILER
ARGH. I just had a horrific thought. This thread is US paced. So we're spoiling anything at the UK pace. But what if we want to talk about spoilers at the UK pace? I guess we'll have to clearly label them UK SPOILER/END UK SPOILER so that non-spoilered UK pacers can keep up.
So complicated!

Fiddy, a good number of us are mods. I'm sure we can figure something out and make the necessary changes. I just added the "US Pace" thing so people would be considerate of US pacers who didn't want to be spoiled.
ETA - really off-topic now, but I love how as of right now, all the icons on this page are Life on Mars related.

SPOILER(ish)>>>Ianto's got some of the best damn one liners that Torchwood has ever seen.<<<SPOILER(ish)
Not as good as last week, IMO.

From that one scene, no less. *g* I am still giggling from it. Sorry. I literally just saw the scene today.
Anyway, I thought the episode was good. Not as good as the first episode of the series. There was some good lines in there, and SPOILER Owen watering the plants during the end of the world was made of so much win. And I couldn't figure out who Gwen reminds me of until today: Cameron. She totally is. I half expected Jack to snark at her, but then I remembered Jack is not quite as big of a bastard as House.
arizonamyrie- 01-25-2008
Hee! Yes March, I totally agree that Gwen is Cameron. I thought that already in S1 - just so Mary Sue. The rest (imho):
Gwen - Cameron
Tosh - (don't know yet)
Ianto - Chase
Owen - Foreman
Susie - Cuddy
Jack - House's never-used conscience
But who is Wilson?
fffaw- 01-25-2008
I think Ianto may yet turn into Jack's Wilson.
arizonamyrie- 01-25-2008
I think so too Fiddy, but from S1, he was later seasons' Chase, at least to me. I think eventually Jack/Ianto will be reality, even more than House/Wilson.
fffaw- 01-25-2008
Well, I don't even mean in the romantic sense. I just mean that Jack will take Ianto's opinion more seriously and perhaps, even lean on him a bit. Jack is notoriously closed off emotionally in many ways. I'd like to see him thaw a bit and share some of the burden with someone close to him. If not as an actual partner, then as a close friend.
arizonamyrie- 01-25-2008
True. And with his snark this season, I can see where he will be the new Wilson.<--
ETA - And he still has his stopwatch after all.
arizonamyrie- 01-26-2008
Well, S2 has officially premiered, and what do you all think? Personally, I loved it and am glad they took extra time in fixing the problems they ran across over the hiatus.
ETA - in an unofficial moderator vote, we've decided to change the threat title to "No, You Were the Wife: Torchwood" in honor of the S2 premiere and all the fabulous HoYay brought to us by, well, Torchwood in general (on this show, it's canon). Enjoy!
March301- 01-26-2008
Heh. My boyfriend asked me about Torchwood, because apparently there was a promo for it at the movies. I was like, "It's the most omnisexual show I've ever seen, and it rocks." I hope he watches it now. :) This from the guy who I made watch Doctor Who and he wasn't that interested. And then I told him about Life On Mars and he was like, "Um, whatever."
I had given up on us finding a common ground in television tastes!
arizonamyrie- 01-26-2008
Hee! My friend's husband is that way, and I'm at least trying to get him to watch Top Gear as his gateway show into BBC America, cause I know he'd love TW if he allowed himself to watch it.
But I've now rewatched the episode again, and I admit I saw it previously as well. It's so odd how Captain John echoes the Master throughout this episode - the "No, no, no" and "Run _____! Run!" were just two spots that were performed similar to John Simm's on Doctor Who.
March301- 01-26-2008
I thought of the same thing! Plus I swear the conference room is the same set from the Valiant. Anyway, there was certainly that element of "We used to be so powerful together, come and join me. Remember the good times?"
About halfway through the episode I remember thinking that Captain John is perhaps Jack's version of the Master.
sautomne- 01-26-2008
the "No, no, no"
JM's line reading sounded so much like the Master. It was a bit uncanny really. There are a couple more instances -I think when he smiles and says, "Oh but I was a good wife!"
Of course all this talk about the Master makes me want to see Captain Jack and the Master make out. Yeah, I'm that shallow.
