Well rumours for next series replacements (if the bbc does renew Torchwood) are Martha and Mickey the idiot!. I like the idea of the first but not sure about the second. Someone said that Jack would not have died and comeback to life all the time during the 1900 years because he was covered in soil and couldnt take a breath until Torchwood in 1901 dug him up- so Grey's revenge didnt really work. Sorry if I spoiled you- it just said that it was a UK pace thread. I sort of stopped posting after the Dead Man Walking episode because the show scripts were poor and sowas the acting. But the last 3 episodes have been brilliant. I liked Owen but there is only so much you could do with a dead man who could easily get injured and not fixed- plus we already have Jack who can never die. Toshiko while her acting was heartbreaking in this episode didnt really have anywhere to go in the show. Again they sort of copied from Angel in having James Marsters hang Jack from his arms and torture him (happened with Spike and Angel except then he used old tools of torture) and in Angel his son buried him in a coffin and threw him out in the ocean as revenge. In anycase you will love this episode- would have been great if it was 1 hr 30 special.

Sorry if I spoiled you- it just said that it was a UK pace thread. It is, puppetangel. No worries. Though oddly enough, it seems like mostly Americans post in the thread! I had of course heard the rumors about the deaths, but I was trying to stay away from any more spoilers (or confirmation of them) before I watched the finale, much like staying a virgin till one's wedding night. I managed to bollocks that up too. ;-)

I just want to see if anyone enjoyed the episode and then BAM! I'm hit with a major spoiler.

I didn't believe the rumor though - of course, all the spoilers for S2 seemed to come true. And DAMN you Chris Chibnall - I haven't cried like this since Doomsday! ETA - I'm just glad that we were given an explanation as to why Tosh was at the pig autopsy rather than Owen - he was hungover. Makes sense actually.

OMG I just finished watching it, Brilliant! So sad and marvelous. I'm crushed at losing Owen & Tosh like this but its touching in a way that they went together. I'll miss Tosh, nice, sensible girl never flashy but always ingenious. Her last look at Jack was stunning. I wonder though about Owen something about the way he said "Its alright." Then that white light. Is it possible he escaped or was "saved" some way? Capt. John turns out to be a hero! I was a bit disappointed in the actor who played Grey not all that strong in his last scene w/ Jack. But that is a quibble. I'll be rewatching all weekend.

Save time for Doctor Who filey! Another thought I had - did anyone else think of 9/11 or just terrorism in general when Grey blew up Cardiff? It was just something that sent chills through me.

Well I'm still working my way through Dr. Who S1. Started while I was going through TW S1 DVD but I got so hooked on that the dear Dr. went on the shelf. Then I became obsesed with finding TW S2. I became quite the internet scavanger so as to get to see all of the last 3 episodes and J/I clips from the rest of S2. No BBCA for me. I'll keep looking for episodes 1 - 10 in full but I think most of them are down. I'll pick up with Dr. Who now and catch up, by the time I do S4 will probably be on DVD. :) Enjoy the first episode tomorrow night. I'm weird, the explosions reminded me of Blade Runner for some reason and also a really old film "Earthquake". But the size screen I was watching on probably effected my prespective. It was chilling though.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUUUGGGGHHHH. Wow. My theory is that Owen isn't really dead. I keep telling myself that. (Although I saw an interview where Burn Gorman made a strikingly John Simmish type comment, saying that he gets bored of playing the same role for a long time.) Yeah. But both actors really are awesome. There was just so much subtlety in their performances. It was never written in the script, but I think Owen figured out that Tosh was dying. His performance changed in very subtle ways throughout their final conversation. Beautifully done. (And yes, I was spoiled for the episode, but I still cried like a loser when we got to the "You're breaking my heart." Eeesh.)

Well Burn Gorman did say in the interview after the episode that Owen could have escaped into the Sewers and come back as the King of the Weevils - he was laughing while he said that though. I still cant understand why Jack after being buried in the ground for 1874 years didnt decompose? Either he kept coming back to life everyday and dying which would make him insane when he was dug out - or there as no air and thus he only came back to life in 1901-but then his body was dead so why no decomposition? John Barrowman said in an interview on a chat show earlier that day that those sad scences were done without rehersal and with one take because they were all so upset and couldnt bear to do it.

In addition to being some of the best hours of television ever, they're the episodes where we first meet our beloved Captain. IMHO there is quite a bit of HoYay between Captain Jack and Nine. Even more than there is between Jack and Ten. I still haven't seen the last episode of TW, but I've been completely spoiled for a while now. I'm curious as to why TPTB decided to kill of Tosh and Owen. I know that BG and NM may have wanted to move on. They're both amazingly talented actors. But it just strikes me as odd that they both left at the same time. I fear that the -->"family friendly Torchwood" rumors are going to come true.<-- :glare:

Great. Now I know I slept horribly as I'm crying again after reading more TW comments. Thanks Chibnall and RTD! Either he kept coming back to life everyday and dying which would make him insane when he was dug out - or there as no air and thus he only came back to life in 1901-but then his body was dead so why no decomposition? I'm voting coma. Make sure that you see "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances." In addition to being some of the best hours of television ever, they're the episodes where we first meet our beloved Captain. IMHO there is quite a bit of HoYay between Captain Jack and Nine. Even more than there is between Jack and Ten. Oh WORD! I'm surprised they weren't snogging. I really did love this season - great television. But I'm on the fence about coming back after the finale. I don't want to be a fan who leaves just because two characters died, but I want to remember Torchwood for what this season became. Great Television. I have my Owen icon ready for here for when it finally airs on BBC A.

puppetangel- 04-05-2008

They just finished showing the newest episode of Doctor Who. Do you watch that too?

arizonamyrie- 04-05-2008

Thanks for letting me know my math/time were off! I'll be back!

cindylouwho- 04-05-2008

Wow. Now that I've stopped sobbing..... that was really intense. I was really impressed by the acting (- Gray) in this one. I am sure this couldn't have been an easy episode to do.

Well I've loved Chris Eccleston since I first saw him in Cracker so any slash between him and JB sounds like it would be right up my alley. :D I actually got DW S1 via Netflix when I realized that Capt Jack was introduced there. Previously I had tried to watch it on TV just for CE when it aired on SciFi and I think on one of the Tri-state PBS stations but I could never get the schedule down with mine. I'm doubly glad to get back to it now.
