Phew! The almost kiss was a fake out. Brilliant! I didn't like how cavalierly Jack was about being with Ianto though. :-( It was interesting to get more of Jack's past and see that he had been married. Maybe Gwen reminds him of his wife or is Jack just a sentimental guy? Next week looks scary.

arizonamyrie- 03-05-2008

I'm watching it right now. Whoever wrote it has a lot of inner-anger against weddings. ETA - Otherwise, very enjoyable. It's like Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz met Torchwood. Gore, humor, aliens, and a wedding. Ianto rocked throughout. Only thing I didn't care for was Owen still being angsty about being dead (but at least he used it as a reason that he would be helpful).

sautomne- 03-05-2008

I don't know, AZ. Being dead can't be an easy thing to get used to. I'll give Owen a bit of a pass. If it goes on for the rest of the season, then I'll be annoyed. I take issue with the way the Jack/Ianto relationship has been written lately. Or rather, I take issue with Jack's attitude. Even though Jack technically didn't kiss Gwen, I thought that there was a lot of Gwack in tonight's episode (Look! I'm using a portmanteau!). I feel like we see him flirting with more men, but somehow when I comes to 'soulmates' we see him with women. Well, only Gwen and Estelle. I guess that's not many. Also, I wonder if Rhys is a marked man now. In a recent interview Eve Myles said that Gwen -->ends the season 'broken but stronger'. Does Rhys die? Or leave? Does Jack tell her that she's not his type and never will be? <-- I can't wait for next week. Circuses scare me.

I think Jack had the best line tonight when responding to Gwen about what he would be doing while she was on honeymoon. "Pizza. Ianto." I almost fell off my chair laughing. I was also very glad that the "kiss" never happened. Phew. I also loved how Ianto cut in to dance w/ Jack, like he was marking *his* territory. :)

I take issue with the way the Jack/Ianto relationship has been written lately. Or rather, I take issue with Jack's attitude. I'm with you. It's so throwaway. "What will you do while I'm away?" "Pizza, Ianto..." It's obviously more to Ianto. I love how he cut in on the Jack/Gwen dance to dance with...Jack. Nice subtle bride bitchslap. ;-) Bet he's happy to see her married off (though it's not going to make a lick of difference). Even though Jack technically didn't kiss Gwen, I thought that there was a lot of Gwack in tonight's episode (Look! I'm using a portmanteau!). I like calling them "Gack" because that's the exact sound I make during those forced love scenes. ;-) I feel like we see him flirting with more men, but somehow when I comes to 'soulmates' we see him with women. Well, only Gwen and Estelle. I guess that's not many. Well, the arguement could be made that the Doctor is his ultimate soulmate. He certainly does flirt with (alot) and sleep with men. Could it be that he doesn't form serious attachments to men (ie, marriage) because in his heart of hearts he's holding out for the Doctor? The Doctor is House to Jack's Wilson in the sense that Jack will drop everything when the Doctor shows up. We've already seen that at the end of last season. So perhaps emotionally he can invest more in women. Even though he'll run off on them too. ;-) Oh well, that theory is shot. Heh. I wonder if we'll see more about Jack's wife and what happened to her?

Torchwood rumors abound! Here! Whoever posted them, claims that they're spoilers. Personally, I'd take 'em with a grain of salt. The source seems a bit dubious. But I'm worried about this: -->Two major character deaths. Maybe one of them is Jack, since, you know, he 'dies' every few episodes.<--

arizonamyrie- 03-10-2008

->Two major character deaths. Maybe one of them is Jack, since, you know, he 'dies' every few episodes.<-- For all we know, they could all be Jack. And Owen is already dead, so he could be another..<-- And Sauty has a new icon too!

cindylouwho- 03-13-2008

So who else had weird carny dreams last night?

arizonamyrie- 03-13-2008

Not as bad as the night before when I watched seven straight hours of Dexter. Of course, last night was more marked by coughing than sleeping, so that could have been why. I guess this will be like "Blink" for me again - where everyone else's reactions will be what makes the episode scary. It just seemed a little over the top to me, that's all. Things could have been more subtle, and that would have made it creepier.

fffaw- 03-15-2008

I just finished watching the ep - it was creepy, but could have been creepier - the ending seemed rather abrupt and tied up too quickly. The Ghostmaker dude was terrifying. Ugh, those teeth!

sautomne- 03-15-2008

New Torchwood spoilers here. Why am I not surprised to learn that, once again, Gwen -->screws up? I'm also amazed that Ianto "secretly slips Gwen some info." Curiouser and curiouser. Does it ever occur to any of them that Jack might actually know what he's talking about once in awhile?<-- This damn show. Love it. Hate it. Love it. Hate it. Love...

arizonamyrie- 03-15-2008

I'm going to have to rewatch the last ep - at first I just thought it over the top, but it will probably end up becoming my new "Blink." Only, "Blink" seemed a little more subtle. And looking forward to actually watching last week's US ep too on-air (little fight, couldn't see the satellite feed, etc...). Can't wait for the glove again - it's freaked me out every time I've seen it. Great TV! Sauty - thanks for the link. Looking forward to seeing what actually happens between Jack and Ianto - if it's good or sloppy.<--

sautomne- 03-15-2008

Maybe it's -->good AND sloppy.<-- I agree. FOotR wasn't nearly as subtle as Blink. I think that Blink had it's own logic, which is something that FOotR was lacking. Albeit Blink had Doctor Who logic, but it was logic nonetheless. It worked within its own universe. Sadly, I think that's something which many TW episodes lack. However, FOotR had some nice art direction. I'll give it that.

Hail the Random- 03-15-2008

I thought it was kind of meh. Everyone said it was scary, but I didn't think it was. It was just kind of all over the place to me.

arizonamyrie- 03-15-2008

See though, TW is withing the DW universe, so it's supposed to have that same logic. I haven't gone back and rewatched it yet, but my first impression was that it was over the top and that it just lagged time-wise. I remember coming over here after watching it and thinking, "Well, there goes one hour of my life that I'll never get back," and thinking how much Owen would say that as well, if he had a life anymore. And there was just something about Jack's omniscience throughout it that just bugged me as well. And the fact that there was an obvious supernatural element to it, and it wasn't even explored - the idea of the traveling show was what was explored. It all had potential, in my mind, it just didn't live up to it.
