Yes. Especially the fact that when Owen gets the big dark eyes, he reminds me of those pixies from the second Harry Potter movie.

So...did anyone else think of Evil Dead 2 during the 'hand' scene?
arizonamyrie- 02-22-2008
I actually haven't seen it Sauty, but I did think "It's Creepy Cousin" (It from Adams' Family).
But, of the entire credit cast, Owen really is the one who looks most like a Weevil, and he kind of was the Weevil King in this last ep.

o.0
Now that was a good episode.

I haven't even seen the episode yet and I already know about the previews for next week. I think the fandom has collectively vomited.

The Rhys/Gwen attempt at a wedding? If so, count me in. If Jack/Gwen comes up in the middle of it, count me as the ringleader.
sautomne- 02-27-2008
Not only that, but the preview contains a quick shot of Jack and Gwen -->leaning in to kiss one another.<--
I wish TPTB would realize that -->Jack/Gwen<-- isn't nearly as compelling as they seem to think it is.

Yeah, I practically threw up in my mouth when I saw that. Then began to shout 'NO!' at my TV (no joke - Gwen/Jack squicks me the hell out)

Ugh, I looked at the white and it was confirmed!!!!! And I did the same as you 407.
And now that I've seen the ep...
...WOW can Burn Gorman act the pants off of the rest of that cast! I was drawn into the Owen subplot in "Out of Time," especially seeing the softer, more vulnerable side. And here, he showed that side again, and acted it superbly. I think I'm going to watch it again. And I'm happy to see the Owen/Tosh storyline grow more as well.
And trivia - did you know that Burn Gorman was born in the US? Both of his parents were British citizens, and he grew up in the UK.

Make that another one who was very nearly sick/confused as to what was going on in the previews.
I have to agree about Burn Gorman's acting here as well. Simply amazing.

The only thing I don't get is this - Owen couldn't perform mouth-to-mouth because he "had no breath." Yet, he could talk, a lot (and complain a lot), which takes lots of breath as the air vibrates the vocal cords.
And now I know I'm over-thinking this show.
But aside from that, I'm about to rewatch the episode again - just for Gorman's acting abilities. I haven't been this impressed with an actor since discovering Hugh Laurie.
ETA - and for even more thinking - there's so much depth to the decision on Owen's part of constantly referring to himself as "Doctor Owen Harper." Here he is, a man who thinks the things that have identified him have been ripped from him, and he has nothing left but his job at TW and his academic title. And even then, those are ripped from him by the end of the ep. All the way through, he's "Doctor..." until he realizes he can't even perform artificial respiration. It's so sad.

Yes! Also, if a patient is extremely ill and surrounded by the many monitors and medical equipment, wouldn't there usually be one of those...um...inflatable bags nearby? I don't know the technical name for them... But, you know, the bags that the EMT's squeeze when they're trying to resuscitate someone.
I realized that this is Torchwood and, along with the hole in the rift, we must accept the inevitable holes in logic and/or the plot but...ARGHH!!
arizonamyrie- 02-28-2008
Yeah, I know what you're talking about. And I was surprised they didn't have one there either - or even a ventilator or something. They had oxygen - even that set high enough can help. And I was surprised that they had the Ox but he wasn't on it.
I want to be the science advisor to Torchwood. Think how easy a job it is ("No Mr. Davies, it takes air to speak.").
