You know what I couldn't help thinking when watching that? SPOILER Who the hell sees this giant alien thing and instantly thinks "Hmmm, we could sell its meat!" The concept is just disgusting, but then again, man's inhumanity is well documented. And the fact that they were cutting it while it was alive and the cries of agony. Ugh. Heartwrenching. Also, the guy with the glasses who kept getting the ketamine - he seemed to have somewhat of a conscience, but he kept doing it anyhow. WTF? There didn't seem to be any explanation for that behavior. Rhys had the right reaction. He took one look at the situation, grasped the complete immorality of it and vomited. As anyone with a heart rightly would. I mean, it was obvious that the creature was ALIVE and could feel PAIN. Just because it regenerated, didn't mean it was any less tortured. Holy crap. The whole thing was just so upsetting for me. As you can tell, it got me completely riled up and I'm still thinking about it. SPOILER

In regards to what you said Fiddy, I think that the group of people selling the meat were used to morally ambiguous dealings already. The leader of the group mentioned that this was his first steady job that he didn't have to worry about finding out where the money was coming from. Despite what they were doing.<--

Oh, I got that much, AZ. I was just wondering how a person gets like that or can sleep at night.

Oh, I got that much, AZ. I was just wondering how a person gets like that or can sleep at night. Sociopaths. Which reminds me, while I'm here: Moderator Question: Would those of you reading this thread prefer it to become UK-Pace? What this means is that once the episode airs in the UK, and we start to see it using our usual means, we can talk about it that night already. Anything that would still be a spoiler for the UK would be in the white text. Anything not a spoiler for the UK would be normal text. Would it work?

Hail the Random- 02-08-2008

I seriously had to go take a hot shower after that eppy. It just made me feel disgusting and icky.

arizonamyrie- 02-08-2008

I was still in shock from something earlier that day to react to it, but I felt horrible for that poor creature. It's one thing to slaughter an animal because it's your only source of food, another to slaughter because it happens to taste better than vegetables. But that? Was awful. <--

SPOILER Yeah, I had no idea how much this episode would affect me. There are moments when I still think about it, quite unexpectedly, actually. Because it doesn't have a happy ending and as upset as everyone was over Owen's decision, I think he was absolutely right. Very haunting and very well written, IMHO. I think Torchwood is having a very strong second series. The few episodes I saw for S1 seemed to be absolute dreck, but I'm really impressed by what they've managed to produce for S2.

*sigh* 2 whole new episodes next week. I love Aunty Beeb.

arizonamyrie- 02-09-2008

What!!! How? 407, you are our link to the UK. What's happening?

Hail the Random- 02-09-2008

2 episodes? Sweet! *bounce*

407- 02-09-2008

Well, Aunty Beeb have decided to experiment a little and so, straight after episode 5 (Adam) airs next Tuesday on BBC2, episode 6 (Reset) is going to air on BBC3. The same will happen the following week with episodes 6 and 7 (Dead Man Walking). Whether it will continue or not, I don't know. I don't know whether to be happy or not about this. On one hand, hello, two TW episodes next week. On the other hand, if it does continue then TW will finish a week earlier. On the... mysterious third hand, if it doesn't continue it means that eventually, we'll have to wait two weeks for new episodes. Oh, the Beeb can be so evilly confusing.

Hail the Random- 02-09-2008

Um... Scheduling is confusing. Brain no process. More Torchwood! :D That's all I say.

arizonamyrie- 02-09-2008

Didn't it start out on BBC3 last year? Then they noticed how high its ratings were and started it midseason on BBC2 as well? And isn't BBC3 not received by everyone on their television licenses or something?

407- 02-09-2008

BBC2 is available to everyone and anyone with a TV (along with the four other main channels). BBC3, however, is only available on digital cable, satellite or terrestrial, so not everyone gets it. Torchwood was promoted from BBC3 to BBC2 this year, so this little "experiment" seems a little counter-productive to me.

To answer the mod's question, no, I would very much prefer this thread remains US paced. If it switches over to UK pace, I'm going to have to bow out of here and I'd certainly miss it, but can only deal with spoilers if it's my choice whether to be spoiled. From my perspective, making this thread UK paced means it'd be for UK forum members only - all the Americans will leave the thread to avoid being spoiled. I guess the question is really whether we have more UK people or more US people discussing on this thread. If it's more UK, then I guess it's only fair that it should proceed at their pace. I will miss them, and this thread, but oh well, I'll find another forum to discuss Torchwood.
