Eccleston always seems cranky to me. Not that that's a bad thing. (I mean, really, who am I to talk!) But I can see where Tennant might be more fun over all. Scots are always a laugh a minute.

I prefer the intense ones.

Please tell me that I'm not the only one who went "The miracle of love!" when I read the spoiler "It's Jack's love of Ianto that saves everyone(or something like that, I don't know the exact quote)"? Please tell me it wasn't just me.

So how did people like episode 3? I have to say SPOILER Tosh certainly upgraded her apartment from last season. Torchwood gives good raises, I guess and the Jack/Ianto kiss? HOT. I was a little pissed off that the scene changed after that. When are we going to get a full male love scene? C'mon Torchwood! We're counting on you! END SPOILER Overall, I like this episode better than episode 2 SPOILER but it kinda felt like a retread of Out of Time in some surface-y way and poor Tosh - she can't get a break love-wise, can she? END SPOILER

Still haven't found a download that works. Been looking all over the internet.

arizonamyrie- 01-30-2008

Fiddy, I saw on the commentary from S1 that TPTB needed to make room, so they destroyed Tosh's apartment set in the process, only to have to rebuilt it for S2.<-- HTR - You have a PM about that.

END SPOILER Damn! I was not expecting that SPOILER kiss to be so incredibly intense. The S1 Jack/Ianto kisses were a bit dry and ended rather quickly (or were cut off). But this one was HOT! I love the fact that Ianto initiated the kiss. That whole scene at Jack's desk was lovely. SPOILER I thought this episode paralleled nicely with SPOILER Captain Jack Harkness. Jack and now Tosh each met someone with whom there was a potential for love. They knew the fate of their men but were unable to help them. Tosh was lucky that she got to have more time with Tommy than Jack had with Real!Jack. SPOILER I just finished the episode a little while ago. I still need to digest it.

So I'm watching the ep right now, and noticed something. Did anyone ever teach Owen that compressing both carotid arteries in the neck at the same time, such as he's doing in the beginning of the ep, can cut off blood flow to the brain?<-- Or is this just Torchwood and I should write it off as such?

sautomne- 01-30-2008

Or is this just Torchwood and I should write it off as such? Yes. It's bloody Torchwood!

Hail the Random- 01-30-2008

Eh. Owen hasn't been a people doctor in so long, he probably doesn't remember. :D

Oh, it's so unfair that the UK gets the episodes so much faster! I've only seen the premiere of Season 1 and tonight's episode 2...but meanwhile everyone's buzzing about episode 3, still a whole week away in the U.S.! Anyway, it's nice that *SPOILERS* Jack and Ianto have something more meaningful going on, as in Season 1, there was a lot of implication that Ianto was merely Jack's boy-toy or 'piece of tart on the side' as John Barrowman described him. I've spoiled myself something awful on YouTube because I just had to see that gorgeous kiss...not to much all that lovely tender conversation that led up to it. Yay for Jack and Ianto!/SPOILERS Christopher Eccleston was kind of an angsty, working-class Doctor, I think his interpretation was a little darker than Tennants's. David Tennant is such brilliant Doctor. It helps that he's a lifelong fan and obviously delighted to be playing the Doctor. He's such a marvelous actor, when I'm watching him, I really do believe he's the Doctor, he so embodies the character. Plus, he's kind of cute. I didn't think so at first because he's so scrawny and dorky with those Converse sneakers and pinstriped suits. But somehow he's grown on me and now I've really taken a shine to him. Doctor Who is worth watching, IMO. It's much more PG than Torchwood, you won't see much blood, swearing, and certainly not any sex. Though Captain Jack is a recurring character and his bisexuality is probably even more emphasized on Doctor Who, where he acts kind of rakish and hits on everything, than on Torchwood where he's a little more subdued about it. But I like the fact that the Doctor's female companions are not love interests. He values them for their intelligence, daring, courage, and resourcefulness, and it's nice to see women having a place beside men (or Time Lords, as it were) that is unrelated to the potential for romance or sex. (Not that I'd mind seeing the Doctor and Jack have a go... but that will never happen on family-friendly Doctor Who!)

arizonamyrie- 02-02-2008

Oh I totally agree MissViolet about the Doctor Who - TW really is the "adult" spinoff of it - always has, always will be. As for David Tennant versus Christopher Eccelston, I came to the show right as John Barrowman started in S1 on BBC America, and heard I had to watch the episodes on Sci-Fi as well, which was showing S2. So, I'm kind of partial to both, although, DT has better ears. As for tonight's broadcast, I will be here afterwards. Even if I don't actually get to see it on TV (something with a relative earlier saying, "We don't actually have to watch BBC America all day, do we?"). ETA - it's better to finish a thought than act like ADD!Ten.

I like the fact that Torchwood has blood. Ooh, that sounds creepy. Oh well, it's more realistic. (And now I feel stupid. Who plays the 9th Doctor?)

arizonamyrie- 02-02-2008

Nine is played by Christopher Eccleston, who also played the invisible man on Heroes. And, as for tonight's ep - Sleeper - we have our Cyberman/Cyberwoman of the season. It wasn't bad, but the man assigned to blow up the nukes at the end was pretty over the top in my opinion. He didn't really play "blank" too well - just overacted with "intense." And the main guest character was really good. Sad way to go in the end, but she knew that she couldn't be out in the public and cryogenics didn't work. Loved Ianto in the scene with the mind-reading chair. Joking (or at least trying to convince) with Jack to not use it due to the mess.

Hail the Random- 02-02-2008

Aliens with high blood pressure. :D Yes, Ianto was fun in Sleeper.
