Boffle- 01-04-2008

Helena Bohnam Carter, while a very good actress, kind of gives me the creeps.... Creepy? Helena Bonham Carter? Well maybe just this once. ;->

Johnny Depp combined with Tim Burton equals perfection almost always I always seem to be in the minority on this. The only Burton movie I really like is the first Batman movie. I did, however, enjoy Sweeney Todd, but I probably won't buy the movie when it's released on DVD. I thought it was worth the viewing, though. I was drawn to it because I enjoy Sondheim's stuff, but never got to see a production of this. I have to agree that none of the musical numbers really jumped out at me, except maybe the one during Todd and Pirelli's face off (S.B. Cohen, in my opinion, gave one of the best performances in the whole film). I'm also interested in Burton's version of Alice in Wonderland due to come out sometime in 2010.

She could be very soft and feminine, but she can also be intensely frightening as well. But so can Johnny Depp. I liked Burton when I was younger but then I just grew out of his style and tastes. I haven't seen Sweeny Todd yet, but probably will as I like the music from it.

Oh, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, now that's a match made in heaven. My favorite Burton/Depp movie is Sleepy Hollow. I would love to see Sweeney Todd, but it doesn't play around here :(

Oh, Tim Burton and Johnny Depp, now that's a match made in heaven. I used to think so. I still love "Sleepy Hollow" and a few others but, I don't know, I'm just kind of sick of Tim Burton lately. What I loved most about his films was the visual aspect, they're all so stunning to look at but the more I get of him, the less I want. I always love me some Johnny Depp though, I'm just over the whole quircky Tim Burton thing.

I like the off-beat choices Depp makes; I loved him in things Like Chocolat, The Secret Window, and The Man Who Cried. My favorite Burton/Depp collaborations were Edward Scissorhands and Sleepy Hollow. But like some of you, I'm not as taken with Tim Burton as I once was. Sweeney Todd is on my "To See" list, though. I just need to get Angela Lansbury out of my head. And who could forget HBC as the junkie doctor love interest on Miami Vice. She looks rather attractive here though. fffaw, I could kill you with some of the Adventures of My French Parents. I think my favorite is the time they accidentally went to a porn film. My friends camped on the doorstep for weeks just begging the folks to recount the saga again and again. (Well, also for my mother's cooking I think.)

I'm not a big movie goer. Maybe 3 or 4 a year. I Saw 'I'm not There' still don't know what the hell happened...missed 'The Future is Unwritten' the day and a half it was playing here and will be pissed until the day it comes out on DVD. ANYHOO-Saw Sweeney Todd today. Oh.My.Word. There will be no intelligent critique from me. My brain broke during 'Epiphany'. Something about Johnny Depp singing about revenge while waving razors--it intrigued me. Visually awesome. Great cast. Not the happiest movie, but I really enjoyed watching Johnny Depp sing and kill people. That's always fun

Okay, I admit it. I'm a sucker for those tongue-in-cheek "last day" kind of videos and I love the piece they produced for Bill Gates shown at the CES convention this week. It's hysterical how being world's biggest geek can get you every single connection you could think of. :-) Funny story--a couple of weeks ago, Bono was in Seattle (at Microsoft) for some event or another. (I don't know if he was there solely for the "Guitar Hero" bit or if there was something else beyond that. I'm assuming there was more.) A friend of mine was hired as a photographer for the event and, for whatever reason, he brought along his father to the shoot. So he has this photo of his father (lifelong dream?) shaking hands with Bono and that pesky Bill Gates jumped in the way. It is honestly the most hysterical photo I've ever seen. I almost wish I could share it here.

Can't you, please? I really wish I could but I don't own it and certainly don't want to be the one splashing it around the internet. I'll inquire to see if it ever got posted anywhere. Truly, I've not laughed harder in quite some time, though.

Oh, bailey, you are cruel...first you enticing describe it, dangling just out of our sight, then you make it even more coveted while saying "no."

How geeked am I about the new X-Files moving coming out? Pretty fucking geeked, that's how geeked I am. I've already requested the day off of work. Anyone who knows me knows I will spend all day in the theater on July 25th watching (and hopefully re-watching) the movie several times that day. That being said, spoiler alert. USA Today wrote about the new movie yesterday and included a photo of David and Gillian back into their Mulder and Scully roles. Le Sigh.

radiosweetheart- 01-18-2008

Picture of Gillian Anderson in full Scully regalia! Picture of David Duchovny back in total Mulder mode! Pardon me. I have to scream real loud right now. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited! I've got that same restless anticipation I used to have back when the show was on and I had to wait a week for a new episode. It was mostly unbearable (as was I, I suspect.) I wouldn't work Sunday after 5 because I had to be sure to get home in time for X-Files. .....Wow. What a big nerd. Geez.

Namaste- 01-18-2008

July 25th? What a birthday present for me.
