Oy. And another person gone: Mollie Sugden (Mrs. Slocombe on Are You Being Served?) just passed at 89.

Karl Malden who starred in "A Street Car Named Desire", "On the Waterfront" and the TV drama "The Streets of San Francisco" has also passed at the age of 97. He died in his sleep early this morning.

Not Mrs. Slocum! Who's going to care for her p u s s y?
Bloody hell, I am going to use that word. It's vital to the Mrs. Slocum mystique! Besides, I have one sitting in front of my computer, I think I should be able to discuss Al and his ilk on this message board, dammit!

Ha! I thought the same thing too! Who gets Mrs. Slocum's pussy?!
Yeah. P u s s y is NOT a bad word.

I really liked Karl Malden. I watched him in "On the Waterfront" recently when TCM honored him.
I saw "Ice Age" yesterday. It was funny.

Anyone else seen HP6 yet? We went and saw it on opening day and it's awesome. I want to see it again, really bad.

Oh yeah, saw it on opening day-want to go see it again. It's such a pretty movie. And I love how the kids are growing up. Ron's so cute when he's enchanted!

I saw it yesterday with my 11 year old. It was good and made me glad (all over again) that I'm not a teenager. We saw the preview for Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey, Jr and Jude Law. I was not impressed. I'm sure Arthur Conan Doyle is spinning in his grave right about now.

That's funny, because I thought Sherlock Holmes looked fun. Not necessarily very loyal to the original text, but fun. There's been so many reboots of Sherlock Holmes, it's rather taken on a life of it's own. But, mileage, vary, etc.

I guess I'm a purist. I just have trouble getting my head around RDJ as Holmes. Maybe I'll be surprised.
DOB1234- 07-20-2009
Well, RDJ is a hot property right now, and Hollywood will stick a hot property into anything. I hear RDJ is going to play Miss. Marple next.

I saw HP on opening day as well. I really liked it. It's scary though! I was surprised that the kids weren't running from the theater shrieking.

I though the same thing. It looked like a lot of fun and I love me some RDJ so I'll be seeing it and I probably wouldn't have if it was another actor playing that part.

Johnny Depp is going to play Barnbas Collins in a movie version of "Dark Shadows" directed by Tim Burton. I can't wait. I watched that show on DVD when I had a leg injury. I loved it.
Namaste- 07-30-2009
Maybe this is bad of me, but I actually wish Tim and Johnny would take a break from each other. Yes, they've done some interesting work in the past, but just recently there was "Charlie & the Chocolate Factory," "Alice In Wonderland" comes out soon, and now this?
I'd actually like to see them work with other folks. (In part because I think Tim gives Johnny too much of a leash to play with, and Johnny goes over the top too much. That's fine for a movie which is essentially a cartoon fantasy in real life form -- "Pirates of the Caribbean" -- which needed an over the top performance, but a little restraint is sometimes needed. Just think of the difference between "Finding Neverland" and "Charlie.")
