I always wanted to know why he never explained why he was on anti-depressants. Not as a writing fail or anything like that, just that I was dying to know what was behind "it's personal."
I always thought that Grace was the turning point, when Wilson realized that he needed professional help, to deal with the losses, and the fact that you can't save everybody. Sleeping with a patient is a definitive NO. We are all teached, again and again, to bond with patients but not to get personal with them. You lose them, you suffer, you don't act objective. And you need treatment.
Wilson needed the antidepressants, because he had nothing else in his life to help him stay at the right distance from his patients. And it was personal. He could not talk of about Grace with anyone, and of course not with House, who already gave him a hard time with that.
Okay, I return after years of self imposed exile and Wilson is in page 2! I find this a little disturbing… so I need to rectify it!
I love him in Transplant! So self-contained and still unable to resist the allure of House’s presence. That’s my Wilson! If you ask me, that punch took a long time to happen all things considered, because I think, if it was physically possible, Wilson wanted much more to punch himself, rather than House.
I wonder if we ever will find out how really was Wilson’s life without House. Probably not, but I can imagine how boring, uneventful, safe and ordinary it was. It may have been what he thought he needed, but it wasn’t what he wanted, or even what he dreamed about.
Anyway, I’m just happy that the screwed-upWilson! I used to love – and how he reacts to House - seems to be back. I hope he stays that way.
Hey Lully, I'm glad you rectified the Wilson situation :) I loved Transplant. I think the punch was necessary and it was nice that House gave him permission to do it. After the punch, I loved the way they just fell right back dinner and a TV watching over at House's place. In the Confession, I liked how Wilson chose his relationship with House over being Foreman's House spycam. We also learn in the Confession how much Wilson is like House from Wilson/Taub scene in the cafeteria. Wilson actually laughed when he was telling Taub about House's Taubettes betting pool. I thought - Damn Wilson! that is so low and umm . . . funny. The Wilson wall House constructed shows how much House wants to break down any emotional barriers between them. Of course Wilson none too pleased :) I hope we see the raising of the wall again.
LOL, I try at least to increase Wilson’s visibility if nothing else…
I was quite surprised with the punch and with the themes of aggression and veiled hostility during the episode. Wilson was trying to be composed and cold – like Dr Park and her escalating outbursts. He tried to treat House like a vaguely annoying colleague, he tried politeness, he tried bluntness. He failed every time, I believe more to himself, than to House. I saw the punch like a last resort, like he did when he called the PotW’s boyfriend.
I don’t think House was expecting it, but Wilson can be unpredictable, so he went with the flow: if what Wilson needed was a cathartic action, House better than anyone, would understand and give him that.
About their future interactions, or if this really put them back as best friends, I still can’t tell – not seeing the other episodes make things a little difficult you know… - but I’d guess we may see a more cautious Wilson for awhile.
