I read Huntingtons also causes reckless behaviour like it seems to be a good idea to jump off a building maybe Maybe the writers have HD. Explains both where they got the idea from and how they've implemented it. Wow, super classy posts, you two. It's one thing to be bitter, but this is bang out of order. HD: not a joke, okay? Feel free to be less morally repulsive in your future posts. Thanks.

Maybe the writers have HD. Explains both where they got the idea from and how they've implemented it. I'm not sure what you are suggesting here. Is it that all the writers of this show have a fairly uncommon, purely genetic disease or is it that the professional writing staff of a medical drama are only able to write about diseases they personally have? If it's the later, this must be the unhealthiest group of people in history -- infarctions, opioid dependency, cancer, sleeping sickness, leprosy... While I'm making light of it, the Mod Note part of my post is that even in the Bitterness Thread, bashing people is not allowed. And, if the above comment was not over the line, it was definitely straddling it.

A blister pack and a half of nicotine lozenges: approx. $14.50 A 6 pack of beer: $8.50 One Vicodin from when I had my wisdom teeth out: approx. $4 (adjusted for insurance) Not completely going off the deep end (or lighting up) when your favorite television show makes it clear that they have been lying to you for two Seasons and the direction that they are moving in is one that you don't want: priceless If only I had a pot brownie, that would make everything alright. I envy you guys in the big cities. I feel like I've lost something, or maybe like something has been taken from me.

If it's the later, this must be the unhealthiest group of people in history -- infarctions, opioid dependency, cancer, sleeping sickness, leprosy... Well, in that second case, seeing how they're now entering the sixth season, they'd actually have to be the healthiest group of people in the planet to survive such varied and horrifying (and sometimes downright fatal) ailments for that long. Of course healthy people are by definition not sick, so maybe there's someone inducing on them what we see in the show and they are very fit internally/have the best doctors/faith healers/gods at their disposal. Based on how much revenue a show of House's caliber generates, financially that wouldn't be the most unplausible scenario I've ever thought about. But no, that's not what I was talking about. I did infer they might have HD based on what I judged to be reckless writing. I must point out, though, that my "TV-series writing test" for HD is not accepted in hospitals, so it is very healthy to doubt my claims. Especially because it does seem very unlikely that a rare genetic disease will affect a bunch of coworkers. I had a previous statement in this very thread that might lead to an explanation, but it was also frowned upon, so I'm not going to repeat it. And no, HD is not a joke. And I'm guessing with death as a punchline it'd be a really lame one if it were. But point taken. Fine - no more metaphorical goofing around with people's DNA.

This no doubt belongs in the bitterness thread. With all the excitement amongst Hugh Laurie's fans about the finale and his particularly great acting in the last couple of episodes, there have been a lot of Emmy mentions. While we're all raving about how good those shows were, and how great his acting was, there are a lot of people out there who still don't like the show and apparently don't care for Hugh's acting, and a lot of them seem to spend their spare time sitting on Emmy committees. I'm going to predict here and now that Hugh will not win an Emmy this year, as usual. Further, I won't be surprised if he is not even nominated, which would at least concentrate the disappointment and frustration into a brief period of time and not drag things out over months of 'Emmy season'. Now, if the Emmy people suddenly contract a case of sanity and give Hugh the Emmy he deserves, I will be as happy as a pig with a full trough. If he doesn't win I can at least be able to say I told you so, but it won't make me happy at all. I'll be very, very bitter. Do I sound like a pessimist? Good. :glare:

Which people are you referring to, specifically? Just curious. If it's critics, they aren't on any Emmy committees.

I feel like Huddy and Hilson won. Hugh Laurie's 'knot' comment makes that clear. I guess congratulations are in order, but I just feel like my show doesn't exist anymore. I just don't know if I can really forgive DS, for the lack of respect he showed a certain portion of the fanbase, lying to me for two years.

fffaw- 05-15-2009

I'm curious about HL's "knot" comment - I think I'm missing something. I'm bitter that we have to wait four months to see how this all is going to play out!

Ariadne- 05-15-2009

I'm not razor but I'm guessing she means Cameron and the House/Cameron fans which the show devoted quite a bit of resources to before deciding to go House/Cuddy in season 3. (I know some people saw House/Cuddy from the beginning but if you look at the media interviews and promotions, the show itself was pushing House/Cameron even after the Stacy arc.) And I agree that the show hasn't shown any respect for a fanbase they themselves deliberately built up but then they haven't shown any respect for JS or JM either, who helped build the show into a hit. What I'm bitter about is that they chose to destroy the character who was Cameron in seasons 1, 2 and the first half of season 3 in order to do it. Maybe they felt it was necessary to tie her to Chase and then get her off the show in order for Huddy to have a free road. But IMO it wasn't necessary to make her into the FWB over-sexed ditz, or the clueless self-centered girlfriend who doesn't know what she wants and needs Foreman and Chase and House to tell her, or the nutjob who wants to keep her husband's sperm even though she's marrying Chase. It may be hard for Shore and Jacobs to believe but not everyone watches the show for the House/Wilson/Cuddy triumvirate. I think Hilson was always going to win in the end in a platonic sense because House's relationship with Wilson is the most important one in his life so it's always the right ship to be on as long as you don't expect to see them in a romantic situation on the screen. I'm bitter that they ruined Cameron to enable Huddy though. I will be shocked if next season turns out to be any different than this one. House will be out of the mental hospital by the end of episode 4, he will resume his friendship with Wilson, they will continue to tease Huddy ending in real sex by the spring (unless viewer feedback hates it), the current team will remain as is with possibly a new addition, and Cameron will continue to be completely marginalized although Chase may be back on the show again. I'm bitter about that too.

maya- 05-15-2009

fffaw, the comment is from HL's end of the season interview in which he was describing what would happen to House. He said (and I am paraphrasing heavily) that House's already small circle of friends would become even smaller and, in fact, become a knot. I took that to mean that he would find himself alone.

Gobblin- 05-15-2009

Word to your entire post Ariadne

fffaw- 05-15-2009

Ah, thanks maya - not sure how that figures into razor's comment, but this is the place to be bitter, not debate bitterness! :-)

Triteness- 05-18-2009

I hope you're wrong, Ariadne, but I doubt it.

rathrbereading- 06-27-2009

I know this has been said many times, but I'm bitter that they ruined Cuddy's character and her relationship with House. She used to be so strong and now she's getting a little sad and immature and now it's a little painful to watch. And the reason I support Huddy is because they were so interesting and fun to watch with their banter. However they got rushed into something and it's turning out pretty bad. I hope that they fix it in season six, but I have a feeling they'll have sex and then have a huge fight and it will be all over. I'd rather have strong!Cuddy without House and fighting with him, than doormat!Cuddy with House.
