310Daisy, Ariadne's post about Sela Ward was based on the information she had seen in the press. Whether it is "erroneous" or not it seems to depend on what press you've read (or watched on TV). As such, debate about it falls under discussion. fffaw's note was clear that discussion was to be taken to the Stacy thread. You two can discuss what she said and when she said it there.
The attitude in this follow-up note is part of the problem here. No one said truth is not allowed in the Bitterness thread, but you have to realize your truth and someone else's may not be the same. You think you have the "facts" but they clearly contradict something Ariadne read (or saw). Maybe she thinks she has the "facts" too. Maybe Ariadne doesn't need "correction" but the two of you might want to compare notes on the various interviews you've read/seen with Sela Ward.
Thus, it doesn't belong here.

The "attitude" in my post was a friendly one of misunderstanding and apology to the mods! I thought I made that clear. :?

310Daisy, I don't think that e_c meant "attitude" in the sense of "bad attitude" but more in the sense of "Enough, people. End it. We can't can't keep doing the back and forth forever. Everyone has their own opinion." She wasn't saying that you were being snippy.
But she's right - we can't keep going back and forth on the issue. So everyone, feel free to resume your regularly scheduled Bitterness.

I think it's god damn rude House has been pushed back a week!!
Triteness- 02-07-2009
Oh, Obama is just getting back at House with those speeches because he didn't like the way he was portrayed in Role Model.
DIY Sheep- 02-07-2009
They pushed House back! That's it. I'm voting for Sarah Palin next election.
I am still bitter about the casting of Sela because I think it flunked purely by chance. You know that out take of season two. It just screams two people who would rather be in another room watching television. Sometimes this just happens - in the office, on stage, on a TV show. Some people, even with all the good will in the world - don't get on.
Bringing me around to my point: Dame Edna was on a British talk show and kept rubbing this wanky chick's forehead - 'so smooth' she kept saying and I'm thinking wot? Turns out the chick had had botox (she wasn't even all that old) and there is Barry Humphries dressed in a 'frock', 105, wrinkly as heck and (excuse my French) shizering all over her.
But my real pet peeve is House's light pink shirt. Come on. Even the idea of him buying it is impossible. Maybe Wilson gave it too him. That seems to be where House gets his ugly ties from - and vice versa.

I checked my TV listings and 24 is being shown at 8 and 9PM.

I am grateful for this bitterness thread and I hope my post belongs here and doesn't come across too snippy.
Previously, I only mildly complained twice about OW, once that her line delivery wasn't all it should be and once about her overabundance of screen time. I have tried to find excuses for her and TPTB who have miscalculated her ability. I don't blame OW. I blame TPTB.
13 is supposed to be another incarnation of House and his struggles. House, as a character that is alienated from his own experience, is still presented by HL as far from detached. You can read a world of emotions in his eyes and face. By contrast, in close-up, OW doesn't have a dramatized thought available. It has always been unfair and ill-advised to pair her with House. She doesn't know how to break herself open emotionally. Shouldn't TPTB have checked for that?
I don't know what Foreman sees in her, she doesn't have anything to say. The camera doesn't discover anything in her eyes so what does Foreman discover?
She's been adequate lately, in extremity, but only in a one-dimensional interpretation of her dramatic plight. Then it's back to blank detachment or simple smiles.
I assume Hollywood is knee deep in talent from around the world so how is OW explained by TPTB? Is it a case of a face that launched a thousand ships? How boring. She is the Achilles' heel of House MD. With every succeeding layer of drama that the writers pile on her, I wonder why. Stop already. At least she doesn't introduce House to his patients anymore. A skilled actor would have transformed those introductions into something that popped not dropped.

The thing that bugged me the most this season was Cuddy just handing off her job to Cameron. I know the show isn't realistic. I mean if it was realistic, House would have been fired and lost his medical license about 20 years ago. But I expect some remote plausibility. It irritated me because we're supposed to respect what Cuddy has accomplished. I think there's a comment in the 1st season about there not being many female deans. It's remarkable that she would be in the position she's in but I think it's plausible. However, to suggest that she could hand her job off to someone else shows that her getting the position wasn't impressive. Did someone just hand it off to her 10 years ago?
Cameron was just a fellow a few years ago. She's 30 at the most. She has no administrative background. They already established that she's not a leader. I can't think of when she demonstrated any ambition. So yeah right she could just become dean of medicine at a major teaching hospital associated with a top ranked ivy league medical school (of course Princeton doesn't really have a med school but I'm assuming that the fictional Princeton med school is on a par with the other ivy league schools). And for the record, I don't dislike Cameron.
And wouldn't the board have a say in who was running their hospital?

David Shore: The one thing you don’t want is the audience wanting less of your characters.
Could someone please pass along the memo to him about how fans feel about 13 (and, to a lesser extent, Foreman).

This is exactly what I think. The scene when House walked into 13's apartment is a perfect example. It was cringeworthy to me. There was no emotion in that scene from OW. It was hard to tell what she was trying to convey. Was she sad? Scared? Angry? It was hard to watch especially since HL can convey a thought with a glance or just a small gesture. My thoughts should have been about what the characters were saying in that scene. Instead I was thinking, "What must HL be thinking about her acting abilities?"

I don't know what the answer is. Maybe she's better in rehearsals?

Sepinwall tried but Shore was shocked, shocked, that there was a perception that Thirteen got more time than the other characters.
I'm bitter that we're expected to believe that Cuddy got a job as dean of medicine and head of a major teaching hospital a mere 3 years after she finished her residency with apparently no degree in hospital administration, and that having created this fictional character who is such an amazing go-getter professionally (Foreman, Chase and Cameron already are all older and have more medical experience than Cuddy had when she got the job as dean), they do absolutely nothing to show that she's competent or ambitious in her job. No organizing conferences or setting up research projects, no plans to expand the hospital, no setting up of programs to get the residents and fellows more publishing and more money. Nothing, in fact, but to spending her time babysitting House and trying to get a baby. What a waste of a potentially strong female character.

I'm just waiting for the day when DS says that and some ballsy interviewer actually does pass that memo along.
I'm bitter that now DS decides he wants the show recognized as an ensemble. Seriously?! Now?
He had one of the best casts going for three years and the only thing out of his mouth was Hugh, Hugh, Hugh. Now that half of the original cast (Chase, Cam, Wilson) is virtually non-existent and he's turned the show into the Thirteen hour he wants recognition as an ensemble?
DIY Sheep- 02-10-2009
I know Hugh is compulsively modest and RSL loathes the whole 'pimp your show' thing and either escapes (I loved that interview where everyone was looking around and going where's Robert? - He was on the bus) or says whatever is on his mind - relevant to the show or not, but I am sick to the back teeth of American talk show hosts asking Hugh the same questions.
This is my ultra pet peeve. I know I go on about it, but is the world of Hollywood so insulated they can't use Google like the rest of the world? Don't these guys have researchers and get paid squillions?
Maybe I'll have to get onto that lot who got to Jennifer Morrison's favourite restaurant's chef and get her to pass on a message to Hugh who can pass on a message to Jay to not ask him to say 'federal court order' ever again.
I know publicity people are pretty strict, but it gets boring after a while. I did an interview with one American and he knew the questions I had to ask before I did. It was spooky.
I also find this sad because there are lots of lovely non-invasive stories Hugh could tell. I was reading Dawn French's auto and in it was a picture of Dawn, Jennifer (Saunders) and Hugh going down a log ride at a theme park. I'll try to scan it in for you guys. The only decent interviews with Hugh I have seen have been with Scotty Guy - and now Michael Parkinson has retired our only hope is Graham Norton.
And Hugh always looks so sad when he is on Ellen.
As to the whole Huddy thing. I think Conan said it best in his Emmy Intro - two seasons of will they won't they sexual tension that ultimately goes nowhere.
