Eh, I see Thirteen's foray to Thailand as the equivalent of Cameron's "quitting" in the first season. Never intended to be anything other than a very short term item.
I do, too. I see Thirteen's Thailand trip to be unfortunately short and nothing compared to Cameron and Chase relative absence in seasons 4-6. Which is why it being cited by OW or anyone else as some sort of evidence that TPTB are wily and cagey in their writing such that no one ever knows when they'll be used again as gratuitously stupid.
I can't understand why TPTB didn't give their actors some kind of token statement to use when they are asked the inevitable JMo question. Both OW and LE said they understood she would be coming back. Who told them that, and why should that person have information that JMo doesn't? I don't believe OW or LE made anything up, and I'm not blaming them, but I want to know why they think she is coming back when JMo has not been given this news.
I still want to know where Greg Yaitanes fits into all this, and I think he needs to be held accountable for things he tweeted. I checked back through some old emails of mine and found a "tweet" from GY that someone had copied me on, probably in hopes of reassuring me that JMo would be back. On October 18th, someone asked Yaitanes about Taub and Thirteen leaving. His reply was: "Everyone is so focused on the ruse of Jen leaving that we snuck Taub and Thirteen leaving right by them."
I can't believe I'm saying this, but Ausiello was right. I'm glad he broke the story, otherwise I might be hanging on two more years waiting to see if Cameron will return.
Wow, I just come back from a very long break from the show and this happens. Too shame. I was liking the old team and the recent eps.
I feel for you logicallilly I cut my losses early during season 4 after a long thought about it and only came back to it this season. I am not blaming LE or OW for what they said but it is all too suspicious, first they LE one thing about JM leaving for good and wishing her luck and then the next moment they change it. The way they handled everything was very badly done, all of it stunk of backtage politics and media spin and the worst thing about it is that they are very bad at it. All of it is pretty dogdy.
I do agree with you about the news, I am glad too. It saved you a lot of time.

To me, that was clearly a joke, but perhaps I just share that dry sense of humor.
In terms of complaints about how TPTB handled this ... I wonder how they actually had planned to handle it. We never saw what their plan was, because Ausiello got involved. Perhaps they had something planned all along. Consider the way they handled it when Kel left, following the episode with a planned interview explaining it that was out within hours. I thought that was done well. The fact is, however, we'll never know what they intended.
And no. I don't feel like they should have warned the fans in advance. I think it might have been interesting going into these next episodes without knowing Jen was leaving, so the story could play out, and allow myself to get caught up in that. Instead every episode we've seen since mid-September has this knowledge attached to it.
That's true but still they were caught out and when that happens instead of digging themselves into a further hole they should have just came out and said it straight off the bat. I am rather suspious because I know media spin when I see it and the amount of different and confusing things that has been given in the press by them just heightens my suspicion and doesn't do them in favors.
But then again because of their tendancy to work lose (too lose if you ask me) their disorganisation and lack of planning and discipline got themselves into a lot of hot water but then again that is just the connservative side of me speaking out :D
The big difference or me between Kal Penn and this is that they didn't run around like headless chickens spouting one thing and then another out in the press they actually had an honest answer straight off the bat and were done with it after the news broke whilist with JM it was all confusion and media spin. Once the information has been leaked I don't see any point in playing dumb about it.
I think that it would have gotten out one way or another, in the digital age nothing can remain secret forever especially if it involes Hollywood in ANY shape or form and even if they didn't say anything until that last ep of JM they still would have gotten plenty of backlash anyway due to them stringing the audience on for 2 years.
I don't think that they said "one thing and then another," though. David Shore and KJ have, all along, said that she's gone for now but they hope not for good and to bring her back, but don't know when. On Twitter, Yaitanes continually points back to the DS and KJ statements. Now others have said otherwise (Ausiello, for instance, while JMo said that as far as she knows she's done -- probably because they don't have anything scheduled at this time), but TPTB have been consistent. And I don't include OW or JS or any of the actors not involved in running the show to be among TPTB, be because they only know as far as the scripts that they've seen.
Hmmm, you do have a point Namesate I guess I am just fed up with all of the confusion and media spin. I am a person who prefers a straight answer right off the bat but then again it leads me straight back to my conservative roots of organisation, planning and discipline. I take the words of Jacobs and Shore with a grain of salt so when it comes to them I will believe them when I see it but that is just me besides their track history is not what I would consider to be hunky dory.
The actors (no offense here) didn't really help the situtation when they said those comments because they know that they don't know until they get the script so in my opinion they should've just said said no comment.
