It's the Button on the Top: The Sci-Fi Thread
Television shows have a longer shelf life than most entertainment media so it's being divided into a few categories. Any program that starts to take over it's category might end up with a thread of its own.
Here's where you can discuss your favorite science fiction programs (such as Torchwood).

SGA spoilers for the next ep, if anyone is interested (anyone?). Todd, LOL.

Thanks Ranee. I started watching SGA a few days ago when they had their marathon on Sciffy. Good show. I've watched it a few other times as well but the combination of being ill, being bored, and having it on TV got me watching it.
Wait. When did Amanda Tapping join the SGA cast? I know she's been busy with Sanctuary, but this too?
Hail the Random- 12-28-2007
She was on SG-1, but got transfered to SGA after SG-1's 10th and final season.

When did Amanda Tapping join the SGA cast?
Beginning of this season to replace Weir as head of Atlantis. Not thrilled about that since I liked the character & I don't like Carter, but Weir's been interesting this season & they haven't rammed Tapping down everyone's throats - she's only appearing in half? of the eps & they seem to be using her sparingly even then.
Though the show isn't Torchwood in terms of canon slash, it skirts awfully close with John & Rodney this season. No slash goggles needed

I remember there were some other Quantum Leap fans here. Anyone want to discuss anything about that old favorite?
TrooperCam- 12-29-2007
Huge QL fan here. What would you like to discuss?
The ending, the lack of the original music on certain episodes on the discs or some other aspects?
extra_cat- 12-29-2007
For some reason the ending of QL seems a good place to start. Personally, I live in a universe where Mirror Image never happened. ;)
TrooperCam- 12-29-2007
See I have no problem with it happening because I understand the reasoning behind it, namely that NBC was still deciding whether or not to bring it back in the form of a movie. What I object to is completly undoing five years of canon with one black screen, what they did to Al was unforgivable

I had major problems with it! LOL Like I cried, as in bawled my eyes out, after it aired. Then my QL-watching buddies at school and I cried our eyes out again the next day. I saw it again on Sci-Fi in 1998 and cried again! LOL It ripped my heart to shreds to think of a Sam without an Al. Have you seen the alternate ending of MI? It's out there on the interweb if you care to find it.
That was one show that I loved almost every episode of and even the episodes I didn't "love" didn't inspire vehement loathing the way House has recently. The writing was brilliant, the acting was top notch, and they did an amazing job tackling some subjects that were kind of taboo at the time (like the "Is he or isn't he gay?" guy).
What was your favorite episode? Mine is Shock Theater because it was brilliantly written and Scott Bakula's performance was mind-blowing.
TrooperCam- 12-30-2007
I think I have to agree with you on Shock Theater. I found it to be an episode I could watch over and over again and I loved the performance by Scott Bakula. Whenever I watched Scott I was always inpressed with his acting, but the fact that he played three or four different characters at once was definatley an accomplishment and I really feel that he deserved to win the Emmy during his time on the show
extra_cat- 12-30-2007
And he played them flawlessly! It's hard to believe the Emmy committee could not award him for his work.
What about other episodes? One that, as far as I know, didn't get a lot of attention but I really enjoyed was the one where he had to make it rain. It's been too long--I can't remember the title off the top of my head. It probably has rain in the title. LOL
TrooperCam- 12-31-2007
A Little Drop of Rain, that one os good as well
I like Good Morning Peoria and the Leap Back and the one where Al and Sam trade places. Good Morning Peoria s awesome because it has that small town station feel that I love when listening to radio and it is pretty well spot on for what it is like to be in a station and how something like rock music could cause all of the issues, one that as a viewe who grew up with rock it was interesting to see and remember there was a time when this stuff almost did not get to be on the air. The Leap Back and The Leap Home/Vietnam are just gut kicks but Scott and Dean play the drama and the comedy equally well.
radiosweetheart- 12-31-2007
Donald Bellasario said in an interview (that I didn't read until this year) that Al still being married to Beth wouldn't take him away from Sam and the Project. I choose to believe this to be true, even if the logistics of it make my brain hurt.
I wasn't on the interwebs when QL was on. There really wasn't much internet to be on then, was there? If QL's 'Evil Leaper' episodes or Trilogy (or the one where Sam was a monkey) had aired during the era of message boards there would have been major moaning and bitching from fans. Those episodes were cool, but I think that there would have been some vehement screams that the show had been ruined. At the time they were just confusing but given a group of people to talk about them with, they would've been infuriating. Mileage may vary according to lotsa stuff.
Ranee- 01-02-2008
LOL, definitely re Rhys. Can't see clearly who's in that shot though.
New Year gift from Mallozzi, SGA spoilers to decifer
