I'm kinda sad they've put the dates back for it, but I guess i'm happy enough to wait.

Sci-Fi has announced that Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures will be starting in April.
Doctor Who is slated to premiere in the US two weeks behind the BBC episode premieres. According to another forum, it is supposed to run starting Friday April 18th at 8:30/7:30 Central (and it's on the SciFi schedule as such). Judging by the fact that the first episode is an hour and a half long, it looks like we'll be starting off with the 2007 Christmas Special.
The Sarah Jane Adventures, the children's spinoff of DW, is expected to start (and it is confirmed on the SciFi website) Friday, April 11, at 8/7 Central.
So, DW will immediately follow SJA. April 25th starts the regular DW S4 episodes. That week will also bring two episodes of SJA before DW each Friday night. Battlestar Galactica airs after the two, which looks to premiere on April 4 at 10/9 Central.

I've fallen completely in love with Avatar: The Last Airbender, an American-made cartoon that is very much influenced by anime. I really can't rave enough about the animation, which is incredibly high quality, almost Hiyao Miyazaki-esque (he directed the divine Spirited Away). The show airs on Nickelodeon (although I've been watching it online), so its primary audience is children, which means the dialogue isn't very sophisticated. However, that weakness is more than offset by the wonderfully realized fantasy world, intricate fight sequences, and truly heart-filled characters. This series just touches my inner child so much.

Do we have any other Stargate Atlantis fans here? I just started watching it casually this season, and while it liked it, I kept forgetting when it was on. Friday is not a good TV night for me. As result, I missed many episodes.
I hadn't seen any other the other seasons until this week when a friend loaned me S2. OMG! I am a woman obsessed. I love it and must get my hands on all the episodes immediately. I particularly love the interactions between Sheppard and McKay. I am surprised to find that there is a lot of humor in this series!

I gave up trying to get anyone to talk about SGA with me.
IMO s1 & s4 are probably the best, particularly s4 if you're slash-inclined (s2 is very good & while s3 has some great individual eps, like "Tao", its also got most of the clunkers in the series). The first half of s4 is slightly mindbogglingly John/Rodney in a very John-is-pining and Rodney-is-completely clueless fashion spoiler ->John induces someone to commit suicide to prevent Rodney's death, because John's greatest fear is Rodney dying. And then there's the whole "Rodney goes ballistic over John kissing other women" thing they have going on throughout the series, never mind the "three years before Rodney calls Sheppard by his first name & then only in private & when extremely emotionally stressed" thing. Its weirdly shocking when we finally hear Rodney say "John" <-end spoiler.

So far I've watched the first half of S2. I haven't seen anything from S1. I've heard that there is some slashy stuff between John and Rodney. The closest thing I've seen to it is at the end of Trinity, when McKay is desperate for Sheppard not to be angry at him. And I thought that I detected a bit of HoYay between John and Ronan.
I can't comment on S4 yet because I've only seen about 4-5 episodes. I saw the one where McKay is trapped in the hole with Keller and the blonde lady. I've seen the one with Carson's clone (that was actually my introduction to Carson). And I've seen the finale.
I'm on Spring Break this week, so I've been trying to catch up!
Ranee- 03-21-2008
IMO s2's the least slashy of all the seasons (no coincidence since its also one of the more het oriented seasons). There's definitely playing around with John/Ronon (wait til you see the s4 ep where John's brother meets Ronon, you can see his brain ticking over wondering "civilian contractor is a euphemism for ....?") as well as Rodney/Carson & Rodney/Ronon (& there's Lorne/Parrish, & ....). Never say that this show doesn't give loads of potential for the slashers. TPTB (& the actors) became very aware that they had a huge slash audience a couple of years ago & significantly dialed it up in s4, particularly wrt the main pairings for Sheppard.
The crash course in John/Rodney is to watch Tao of Rodney, McKay & Mrs Miller, Echoes, Doppelganger & then Miller's Crossing in that sequence (the first 3 are s3, the last 2 s4). Doppelganger & the last 10 or 15 minutes of Miller's Crossing are probably the most intense emotional things the show has ever done and its all about John & Rodney's relationship. For extra credit then watch Quarantine, followed by Harmony (both s4)

This little bit about David Tennant was in Popbitch today:
>> Tennant's super <<
Just what the Dr ordered
zookeeper's boy writes:
“I can confirm that David Tennant is indeed the nicest man in the world. I work in a post-
production house and Tennant was recently in to record a voice-over for a new documentary. He tooka break in the coffee bar, where he was approached by a member of the sales team who works with disadvantaged kids in his spare time. The man explained that the kids were massive Dr Who fans.Tennant then spent his break doing an improvised skit in Dr Who character while being filmed on a phone camera for these kids. Pure class.”

Awwwww! David Tennant is so adorable/adorkable! And sweet! I can't see him not doing something like that!
Argghh!!
I've been perusing some Sheppard/McKay fanfic and I just read one where McKay is diagnosed with Asperger's.
Yawn! I wish people would cut that out.
Finally finished S3. Of all the things I might've expected to see on a sci-fi show, Richard Kind was not one of them. Maybe the first five minutes of Irresistible was funny, but after that? Not so much. And the second Lucius Lavin episode was absolutely grueling. I also disliked The Game. I was disappointed too, because it seemed like an interesting concept for an episode.
Highlights were: Echoes, McKay & Mrs. Miller, The Tao of Rodney, Common Ground, and Sateda.
Ranee- 03-31-2008
I know a lot of folks consider SGA s3 to be their favorite, but I find it erratic & the second half weak. The first Lucius ep had the potential to be much darker, Stepford Wives-ish & they missed the boat on the directing. I'll never understand why they brought the character back & muffed how they killed off Koyla, there was the potential for a much bigger dramatic pay off & that applies to a lot of the s3 eps (Game's a good example, so is Ark).
What is interesting about s3 (& this is why Game is so popular with the slashers) is that its where TPTB started playing with the McShep much more explicitly & actually canonized a bunch of fanfic tropes. One is that John & Rodney hang out in off-hours & have been doing so since day one - and we see the flashback in Game. Echos canonized fic's pining!John/oblivious!Rodney. Another key one is that John & Rodney "get" each other so much Rodney has nothing to make right with John, unlike his other colleagues in Tao; the reverse is that John not only knows about, but actually has a copy of Rodney's taped message to Jeannie that he didn't send that he can produce it to help Rodney's relationship with Jeannie in M&MM. Other fic tropes that got canonized in s3/s4 - chess & computer golf as the new Games; we only ever see the boys in John's room, never Rodney's, but Rodney never knocks, just walks in; we never hear Rodney call Sheppard by anything other than his title or last name in public, except when they are in private or Rodney is seriously upset about something about John (this was something the fans & Kate Hewlett actually pointed out at a con to TPTB that they had been subconsciously already writing, even though the writers & DHew hadn't actually registered it until it was pointed out - etc etc.
Asperger's
Heh! Yeah, but its not a common thing in SGA fic, unlike House - but we get waaayy more amnesia!fic, and a boatload of Rodney with some type of brain damage.

we only ever see the boys in John's room, never Rodney's, but Rodney never knocks, just walks in;
Which is quite different from S2. I was just watching Trinity and Rodney goes to John's room so that he can explain his newest brainstorm --but John refuses to let Rodney in.
And what's with Rodney suddenly using Sheppard's first name in S4? I noticed that he did it in either Adrift or Lifeline. It almost seemed natural when he used it because he was under emotional duress and pleading with Sheppard.
But in Harmony, Rodney calls him John quite a few times. Does this mean that they've finally made it past third base?
