Boy does iTunes have some weird ideas about what genre some songs belong it. I thought I'd clean up that column for the interviews with Hugh I've recently added so I sorted by genre.
Alternative and Punk includes Bobby Vee. (I can't decide if "The Night Has a Thousand Eyes" is "alternative" or "punk.") The only other two artist in this category are Barenaked Ladies and Jeff Buckley.
Blues makes sense if you ignore the one RSL interview that got put there.
iTunes seems to have reserved Books & Spoken for the albums of Tom Lehrer
Country? That's Bobby Darin and Buddy Holly,The Everly Brothers and Ricky Nelson, obviously. (And for Ricky Nelson, I'm talking about Mary Lou and Travelin' Man, not his work with The Stone Canyon Band.)
Finally, there's that "unclassified" song "Somebody to Love" by Jefferson Airplane. That goes in Easy Listening, right?
My iTunes on this computer is pitiful (less than 2GB) but I do question whether Monty Python should be classified as Books and Spoken word. Wouldn't "Comedy" be a bit more appropriate?
This is a neat website
Tube Radio that you can search for songs or albums by an artist on YouTube and create a playlist of the songs/videos that you can save on the site. It's pretty great. Pretty much every song ever is on YouTube.
If anyone is looking for new music at a bargain price, Amazon.com has Bon Jovi's new CD
The Circle at a special price of $3.99 to download for this week only. The CD is incredible. I've been listening to it pretty much nonstop. There's only one song that I routinely hit "skip" on.
Everything about that rules.
Wow, I've had dozens of people rec that video to me in the last two days. And it's only been on there two days! Must be the most popular vid ever. (2,000,000 + in two days) Plus, it's awesome. Watch to the end, though!
I kind of predicted the end, but then Animal is my favorite part. "Mammaaaaa!" "Mama?" "Yoohoo, Mammaaaa!" "Dada?"
The complete Grammy nomination list. As always, it's interesting to see the nominations that stand out. Like Brad Paisley in the rock category?
Also, you go Steve Martin! Look at you, getting a bluegrass nomination!
And hey, POTW Mos Def gets a nomination for his album!
Jimmy from Degrassi is nominated for Best Rap Performance! You go, Jimmy! "I'm on a Boat" got a nod, too. Good year for rap music.
Springsteen has a lot of chances to not win.
Great to see Leeland nominated.
Ooo...City On Our Knees and Born Again both nominated for Best Gospel song.
This is so much more than just "music"...
linkGuess I'm a cynic, and while it's a good cause, how like a corporate entity to have to steal an idea both from the Beatles and the indie production of street performers
Playing For Change.
Playing For Change has been touring, by the way, and friends of mine who worked the show when it was in town said it was magnificent.
