The kids I went to high school with all gave me funny looks for being a Queen fan instead of being into NKOTB. Of course Queen is one of the biggest bands ever, so yeah... :)

Grammy's are on. My favorite Brit singer will be singing soon. And for the record, I've had Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" album since a month before it was released in the US. Go Amy Winehouse!

I absolutely love the song, but Stronger by Kanye West is so not a song that sounds good live.

I'm just psyched to have seen Aretha Franklin sing the song the church choir did in Blues Brothers.
galaxygirl- 02-10-2008
Aretha needs to dress a little better for her frame, though she looks much better than the last time I saw her on stage.
Seeing Tina was great too. I'd kill to have legs like that and she's roughly twice my age.

I was terrified for that one little spaghetti strap holding up half of Aretha's dress.
Kanye West just got totally pwned by Vince Gill. Hee.

It's really hard not to sing along with them. So much of this music I'll just randomly belt out for no reason whatsoever, and to see it on TV, it's hard not to sing along.
And yes, Tina looks FANTASTIC! I never listened to Beyonce either, but she sounds good. Especially her intro for Tina was cool.

I love everyone who pwns Kanye West. I like his songs, but I don't like him.

Pavarotti just won the applause-o-meter.
Alicia Keys sounded great. And I have to say Amy Winehouse was pretty fabulous for a person who seemed to be having difficulty standing in her shoes. And it was adorable when she plainly did not expect to win that award.

What I like about the Grammy's is that I usually know the performers. I rarely know the people who perform at the MTV award shows these days. This probably means I'm getting old.
edited to add that I thought Jerry Lee Lewis was dead

I don't like him or his songs, but I LOVE the fact that Vince Gill made that crack. Kanye thinks he's the greatest thing ever. He'll never have the 19 or so Grammy's that Vince has (last count I heard was 18).

*gallops in* I've got a ticket for the Noa concert in Amsterdam in October! *bounces & gallops out again*

Since this thread is in current topics I just want to share that I'm obsessed with The Bis-Quits. I can't decide if they're the greatest band no one's ever heard of in the history of unheard of bands or really, really terrible and best forgotten.
They're almost like the Replacements in how good or bad they might be--only slightly less drunk (maybe).

This is a bit odd, but how many different versions of "I Fought the Law" have there been? I can think on 3 off the top of my head, but i think there's more.

Yeah, there's alot more than 3 versions. Wikipedia has a pretty good rundown. I have no idea if this is the definitive list, though. Probably impossible to know for sure.
