Weird. That sucks. I'm assuming you can get *some* youtube vids, just not these?

bailey- 10-30-2008

Nope, no luck there either. I think this goes a long way in explaining why Mraz had yet to crack the Netherlands. Well, that sucks. Not to keep harping on it, but if you go through Mraz's official site (which eventually leads to youtube links, does that work?)

jonne- 10-30-2008

Absolutely. Some seem to be blocked to protect artists rights. This mostly happens when they are 'officially' posted by artists or companies.

amysusanne- 10-30-2008

Which, yeah, both of those were. Because apparently in my effort to test what you could and couldn't see on youtube I refused to branch out from that one particular video. Which I'm now obsessed with finding a non-protected copy of for you. It's my penance for totally making fun of Jason Mraz for absolutely zero reason while watching a busker awhile back. Poor Mraz. Just got caught in the crossfire, I guess. So did Jude and Mary Lou Lord. Incidentally, I like all three artists quite a bit. Sometimes my role as sarcastic bystander gets a little out of hand...

At the very least, I had a reason to visit Jason's homepage to see the behind the scenes footage of his recording with Brett Dennen. (Dennen's "Ain't No Reason" was used in season 3 House episode. "Family.")

Not to keep harping on it, but if you go through Mraz's official site (which eventually leads to youtube links, does that work?) I can't find links to Youtube there. I seem to remember that I did a few months ago, when we first talked about him, and I could only watch I'm yours which is still the only one I can watch now. There are others, mostly from live shows, but no "official" videos. ETA: Oops, found them on the Mraz site. Still only one I can watch...I'm yours

Ooh! How 'bout this one: http://www.blinkx.com/video/curbside-prophet-jason-mraz/9GDPFmY2z9wVxbummEFjkg

Which I'm now obsessed with finding a non-protected copy of for you. This is a live on Jimmy Kimmel version which, like all live performances, is suitably different. It's my penance for totally making fun of Jason Mraz for absolutely zero reason while watching a busker awhile back. Poor Mraz. Just got caught in the crossfire, I guess. GASP! eta: For all the effort being put into this you'd think it was the greatest song ever. It isn't. It's just good fun.

Ooh! How 'bout this one: http://www.blinkx.com/video/curbside-prophet-jason-mraz/9GDPFmY2z9wVxbummEFjkg :D :( We're sorry, the clip you are trying to play is not currently available in your country. Now I really want to watch it. ETA: OK, the one Bailey gave, worked! Thank you!

eta: For all the effort being put into this you'd think it was the greatest song ever. It isn't. It's just good fun. The best part? I've never seen the linked video and I don't have sound on this computer, so I don't even get to find out what I'm putting all this leg (finger?) work into until I get home. I was about to give up except...it just dawned on me that I could always just do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lObdra-xzIU However, since I took the file directly from the official recording and didn't do any fancy, schmancy converting, it'll probably still be blocked. If so, oh well. If not, watch and enjoy, because even though it looks like you have permission to upload the vid to your personal youtube, I'll probably remove it later.

Poor Mraz. Just got caught in the crossfire, I guess. So did Jude and Mary Lou Lord. Incidentally, I like all three artists quite a bit. Sometimes my role as sarcastic bystander gets a little out of hand... The first time I heard the name Mary Lou Lord the Boy was describing how he made out with her once. I think I was supposed to be impressed at his history of snogging the semi-famous, but I kept thinking of Mary Lou Retton and the imagery wasn't pretty. Then I heard her music and really, that made it worse. Wow. Just Sucktacular. Based on my limited knowledge he has terrible taste in women. Except me. I'm awesome. I'm sure he'd be thrilled that I just shared that story. I feel like I should watch that Jason Mraz video just to figure out what all the fuss was about. And I'll refrain from telling third hand stories about him. Because I am only tacky to those I know.

amysusanne- 10-30-2008

By extension of having made out with the boy who made out with Mary Lou Lord you have officially made out with Kurt Cobain. Score. I like her. The fact that she's a bit too precious and pretentious is not lost on me, but I was totally into her KRS EP with "Helsinki" and her cover of "Speeding Motorcycle". Saw her at the 40 Watt a couple of times (once with Elliott Smith, which was so awesome) and she was a lot of fun. I was expecting her to take herself way too seriously, but she was adorable, so I have a certain fondness for her.

radiosweetheart- 10-30-2008

Yes! That adds to my 6 Degrees of Making Out Cred! Previously the biggest name I had on there was Hank Williams III. Cobain's way more prestigious. My opinion of her music might be slightly tainted by the initial image planted in my head. Or possibly it's just that I hate little girl voices. Love Elliott Smith, tho. Wish I could've seen him perform.

Okay :) , that worked, thank you Amysusanne. I'm glad I liked it, after all the work you guys put into this.

amysusanne- 10-30-2008

Of course, you could just be lying so I won't feel bad, right? :-) Still. you're welcome. I'm looking forward to actually hearing it when I get home to see exactly what it is that I've uploaded. {g} My opinion of her music might be slightly tainted by the initial image planted in my head. Or possibly it's just that I hate little girl voices. I am accepting of so many reasons that one might find her off putting. Love Elliott Smith, tho. Wish I could've seen him perform. I only got to see him twice. That first time at the 40 Watt, even though it's kind of a blur, I remember that he was really light and seemed like he was in a great mood and I remember thinking, "isn't this guy supposed to be all sullen and shit?". The second time I saw him at The Point and he seemed sad and did a lot of mumbling and even though he sang perfectly and clearly and beautifully, it totally seemed like he was on another planet. We were in the front and he would occasionally make eye contact and it was a little unnerving. He was fantastic, though. Both of those concerts were many years before his death. I don't know why I never saw him again.
