My favorite GnR song is Civil War. I got burned out on November Rain. I might listen to it now if I heard it on Hairnation, but it's taken me about 15 years to recover. LOL

cindylouwho- 06-20-2008

It's not officially released, 9 tracks were leaked. GnR rocked so hard back in the day-I still get down with some "Don't Cry" or a little "Mr. Brownstone" don't get me wrong-but Axl is scary these days. If I met him on the street I'd run away screaming in fear. When I was about 13/14, I thought that Axl Rose was the dreamiest man on the planet. Thankfully, my taste has improved. But Appetite for Destruction still rocks. Him, Bret Michaels, and David Coverdale for me. Bret Michaels has aged well. I saw him last Saturday and he put on a good show.

None of them were dreamier than Jon Bon Jovi! LOL And he's *still* pretty darn dreamy. I liked Blas Elias (Slaughter), Jani Lane (Warrant), and Stevie Rachelle (Tuff) too. I used to have photos of Jon and Blas in my locker. All the guys were prettier than their fans back then. Some of the guys in my class were looking at one of my magazines, probably Metal Edge. There was one guy (a total homophobe, for the record) who saw a picture of Sebastian Bach and he declared, "Man, she's hot! I'd do her!" My best friend and I couldn't stop laughing. We laughed until we hurt. We reminded him of it randomly for years too.

My dreamy rock crush of my youth was probably Evan Dando. Oh Evan! With the radio friendly power pop and messy hair-what was not to love? Also, I had a crush on Paul Simon. He was so broody and short! Sexy. And Bruce Springsteen did things to me, odd things. The jeans...the "Hey little girl is your daddy home?"...the jeans... Never really got into the big haired dudes. Dug the sound-but not the dudes.

I got over Poison when I saw them live. It was back when CC Deville was doing his 30 minute guitar solos (I'm not exaggerating). It ruined the show. It was the first concert I ever left mid-show. I've been walking down memory lane because I have Hairnation via satellite radio. It's fun to remember these bands. I'm just glad that the one band I really cared about is the one band that continued to build upon their success and continued to be around recording new music and doing big tours. Even though Bon Jovi was lumped in with the hair bands, that hardly defines them.

Someone page Dr. House Amy Winehouse is in the hospital with undiagnosed lung problems. Tests for TB were negative and doctors are baffled as to what it could be My guess crack I thought her father said it was emphysema. Is it too early (or too crass) to start a death pool yet?

galaxygirl- 06-24-2008

She's been in my death pool for a while now. The emphysema was caused by smoking crack, I believe they said. At this rate she's going to kick the bucket before Paul Newman does.

radiosweetheart- 06-24-2008

I know it's morbid and very inappropriate, but I can't help but find amusement in the phrase "If she doesn't stop smoking drugs." It sounds like something Mr. Garrison would say to Stan, Kyle and Cartman.

Bon Jovi will be playing a free concert in Central Park on July 12. If you're in the area and you've never seen them before, go! They put on a great show.

radiosweetheart- 06-30-2008

Concert in the Park. I remember desperately wanting to go see Paul Simon when he did his show there lo, these many moons ago. Bon Jovi would probably be an excellent show there-loud, party, good times. Speaking of desperate-- Anyone have a couple of extra tickets to Bruce Springsteen in Nashville they'd like to give to a friendly neighborhood person who doesn't have $200 lying around to spend on Bruce Springsteen tickets? I'd be ever so grateful.

Probably my favorite music video for the last decade, at least: U2 "Window in the Skies". Happy music, um, Wednesday.

One of my co-workers admitted that he's taking his youngest daughter to see the Jonas Brothers in concert this weekend. (She's 10.) He felt bad because he didn't take her to see Panic at the Disco with her older sister, so he even bought the tickets on Stub Hub ... and paid $300. I just keep looking at him and saying: "$300 for the Jonas Brothers?" And he sighs and shakes his head. He didn't even pay $300 for Springsteen.

Problem: July 9th. The Real Tuesday Weld are playing at Joe's Pub. They haven't played in the US since 2004. At the same time in Rockefeller Park, a free show by The Avett Brothers. Apparently, the universe hates me. I'm desperate to go to both gigs. There's also a reading I want to go to the same night. Nothing ever happens and then it all happens on the same frigging day. I think I'm going to have to see TRTW because they play here so rarely. But, damn!

Dude, I've got a project I'm working on now that is a promo for the new JB album that releases Aug. 12th. I'm doing the project for the label. The label wants me to do the project. They want me to deliver this project by a date that precedes the album's release. They want me to include music from the new album. They just actually don't want to give me the album in advance because they are paranoid out of their brains that I might leak it early on the internet. It seems I can't sign enough NDA's to satisfy them. This release will make them a killer amount of money. But I really don't get how they can get away with charging so much for tours geared primarily towards kids. Makes me think they're really just a bunch of assholes.
