I hate the Xrays, because I have one of the most overreactive gag reflexes in the world.

Nope. I do. The dentist DREADS me. When we're doing X-Rays, I make them let me put the film plates in my mouth. And then they have to SPRINT across the room to their little x-ray safety zone. As soon as it's finished, I spit out the film and go into an entire series of dry heaves. The appointment doesn't end before I've gone through an entire box of tissues because my eyes are tearing up so much. It's horrifying.

I said ONE of.
But geez, that sounds horrible.

bailey, that sounds awful.
My orthodontist hated me because I have the smallest mouth in the world. I literally can't get wisdom teeth because they won't fit, not even badly. I think he breathed a huge sigh of relief when they finally came off.
Once a month it was:
TECHNICIAN: Open your mouth as wide as you can, please.
ME: I am!
TECHNICIAN: Can't you open just a little wider?
ME: No.
TECHNICIAN: ....Okay.

To which the obvious reply would be "If I could don't you think I would be already?"
So apparently Dumbledore is gay. Rowlings confirmed it during her book tour and cited the fanfiction that has been written speculating about this which leads to the question was Dumbledore always gay or did JK let the fan influence how she saw the character?

He never dated. Or spoke of past relationships.
Nor did it make much sense for him to do so. None of the older professors did. Snape didn't talk about Lily. Remus and Sirius were obviously in love (whether lovers or not). They were adults in a story about the younger generation, they're lives were only relevant to Harry and etc. in the ways that they could facilitate them. (Like all adults are, to all children, everywhere.)
Until DH when the story of that evil guy who was evil before Voldemort the name escapes me right now it starts with a G, was told. That was easily read as unrequited love. In retrospect, it was obvious that was what happened.
So, I think that Dumbledore wasn't called 'the Gay Headmaster Albus Dumbledore" from the start because the students didn't know or care what he did during his off time and the readers saw the events through that same filter.

Now I can't wait to see the media backlash of that. There are already groups around the country/world that state that her work was evil because it was about witchcraft, now, this is only going to give them more to play with, despite the series being probably over.

I know, right? Because if I could they wouldn't have to like, pry my mouth open with their hands. Ouch.

I'm willing to trust he's always been that way. JK Rowling had a lot of background material filed away in her head that we didn't even know about. Dean Thomas was supposed to have a whole storyline that didn't fit into the seven books, and Hermione was supposed to have a younger sister, but she never made an appearance and therefore, doesn't exist.
I think this makes Dumbledore even more amazing than he was before. To be betrayed by someone he loves, only to still believe in the power of love years later? Is phenomenal.
Plus, you've got to love a fandom where slash fic is canon. ;)

I know, I was thinking the same thing. The Internets have already exploded over it.

There are two more movies so I am sure that the people who bitch about it being about witchcraft will now be looking for "gay signals" in the movies. It will be kind of like when Superman Returns came out and everyone was sure that there would be a gay Superman because of Bryan Singer.
I'm watching V for Vendetta on HBO here and whoever distributes it to Asia cut out the lines about "Muslims, homosexuals, terrorists and disease ridden degenrates"
What is more sad- that the fact that it is edited bothers me or the fact that I know the series so well I recongized it was missing?

I'm not a Harry Potter fan at all and yet I've managed to be inundated by the news.
At any rate, even more subversive than the HP reveal is James Blunt's appearance on Sesame Street a little while back. (Which, by the way, I didn't realize was even still on the air.) Now, I could be wrong, but James Blunt is singing about (pink) triangles and the "video" seems to feature some flashbacks to a gay, muppet disco of sorts. There is one muppet that could conceivably be female but she looks a bit butch to me.
Way to fight back, PBS, and give the televangelists exactly what they think they've seen the whole time! :-)

I'm so glad that she had the chutzpah to go public with that.
I've have never laid eyes on any HP fanfic, but when I saw The Prisoner of Azkaban (saw the movie before I read the book), I thought either Siruis is completely in love with Remus, or GO and DT are totally smitten with each other. I prefer to think it was a bit of both. But when I read the book my feelings were confirmed. I still saw the subtext. I also wondered if Sirius had been a little bit in love with James Potter.
I was so disappointed when Remus married Tonks.
TrooperCam- 10-20-2007
REMUS MARRIED TONKS
Just Kidding, finished the book the same day it came out
I never really saw the Dumbledore stuff, but I did feel that there was something more to James and Sirius. The fact that James became an animus(shapeshifter) said to me that there was a bond that was stronger than just friendship.
Dumbledore, not so much, but then maybe the idea that teachers have their own lives still squicks me out and i have been out of school for over 13 years now :P

OMG. I might have to forgive James Blunt for his second album for that. That's just so excellent.

Hi all :)
I know we have people from SoCal. I just wanted to hear if everyone is okay - and not being smoked out of their homes :(

DIYSheep invades my dreams. Weird. I just had to come here, since I know it to be the usual hangout of certain wool-clad miscreants, and mention this.
Last night? Was one of those nights that was one bizarre dream after another. I remembered very little when I awoke, but the part I did recall involved my going into a "coffee bar" type place, at which an old art instructor of mine was serving the customers.
Next thing I knew, there was this shortish, dark-haired female person sitting on the barstool next to mine, eating french fries (chips, for you non-Americans out there) and griping about the fact that she'd been given mayonnaise, of all things, to put on said chips. As opposed to something sensible such as ketchup.
Not for a moment did I question who this person was; I knew immediately that it was our dear Sheepie. And I didn't seem the least bit surprised to see her, although logically I ought to have wondered about that, given that we weren't (as far as I can recall) in Australia.
"Doesn't anyone else hate mayonnaise on fries?" griped the Sheep, and I replied that I knew my friend, Martha, hated it. Didn't mention that I myself find mayonnaise quite vile; I must have figured Sheep already knew that.
And ... that's all I can remember.
Then I logged onto LJ and discovered that one of my other friends dreamed last night that she walked into her kitchen and found a large black mare in there, making tea.
Must've been a good night for that kind of thing. Heh.
