Jouse- 10-08-2007

GG, Your cats make me want to jump on them!

Taiga- 10-08-2007

I loved the joke, Jouse. Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canadians! :balloon:

Silja- 10-08-2007

Yes, happy Thanksgiving  ...and on that note, perhaps someone could explain a small cultural misunderstanding I seem to have had today. We have a Canadian postdoc down the hall. I wished her a good Thanksgiving (having been conveniently reminded by corgigirl) and asked if there was turkey involved. Her answer: 'Ha ha, very *bleep* funny.' /scowl-muttering-something-under-her-breath-as-she-stalked-off. Huh?! Is 'turkey' Canadian code for 'I'd like to brutally murder your mother in her sleep with a meat cleaver' or something?

radiosweetheart- 10-08-2007

Uhhh---I've met a few Canadians and none of them seem particularly offended by turkey. At least you didn't say: "Will you be enjoying some Canadian Bacon with maple syrup and participating in the traditional viewing of 'Strange Brew' this evening?" I have some capslock of glee I must share: Remember how I was being sued by my former landlady? Well, I got in touch with an attorney and after a brief bit of correspondence between my lawyer and her lawyer... Not only am I no longer being sued---SHE'S DRAFTING A CHECK FOR MY SECURITY DEPOSIT!

galaxygirl- 10-08-2007

AWESOME RSH!!!!!!!!!!!

Woo! Yay you! That's great.

Taiga- 10-08-2007

Silja, we Canadians eat turkey on Thanksgiving just like the Yanks do. The only explanations I can come up with are 1) she has to work on Thanksgiving and she's bitter, or 2) she's a vegetarian/vegan and thought you were cracking a joke at her expense. That's great news, RSH!

407- 10-08-2007

Hey, win for you RSH. That's awesome. I know nothing of Thanksgiving in Canada, but happy thanksgiving to you guys, anyway  Also, this bloody post strike is pissing me off. I want my mail, dammit. At least it's not another tube strike, though - you can't get anywhere when the London Underground isn't operating. I mean, London transport is sucky as it is... Shall stop my potholing now.

Silja- 10-08-2007

I'm standing firm on the rights of the workers but I want my mail too... And thanks for the answers on Canadian Thanksgiving. I'm betting PMS...(not IRT Canada but our weird postdoc)

galaxygirl- 10-08-2007

The mail people are on strike? How does that work, do they still deliver important items, like death notifications and things like that? Here in the town I live at, the mail just randomly doesn't show up. Keeps you guessing I guess.

Hail the Random- 10-08-2007

I never get any mail(which will change, because i put in an order for TV Guide so I can see if there's and House stuff), so I wouldn't know about anything mail.

arizonamyrie- 10-08-2007

Congrats RSH!!! Here in the town I live at, the mail just randomly doesn't show up. Keeps you guessing I guess. Is today a national holiday? Cause, I didn't get any mail today either.

radiosweetheart- 10-08-2007

A national holiday would also explain why my attempt to pay my *boo!hiss!* Student Loan Payment was postponed until tomorrow. Why was I at work today? That doesn't seem quite right. Don't I get holidays off? Thought I did.

TrooperCam- 10-08-2007

It's Columbus Day in the States, Thanksgiving in Canada and National Mail Strike Day in Britian...awesome I went to the gym for a little while this morning, it was pretty dead. I'm bored Hey The Bills Scored :)

arizonamyrie- 10-08-2007

So no mail in three English speaking countries? Thank goodness for Australia.
