Well, that just begs for a sly joke about not needing much when you can... fill in the blank as you will.

Thanks for the congrats, everybody! :D And, mmm, swimmers. They make the summer Olympics worth the watch.Among all the sexy swimmers, for me one stands out among the rest: Ian Thorpe. Good lord, does anyone look better in a stretchy body suit and swim cap than that man? Ahh, Ian Thorp. During the 2004 Summer Olympics, I made up this STUPID song that goes,"Peter Van Den Hougenbond(or something like that–I don't know how to spell it)isn't . Oe of them was Ian Thorpe. Good times, good times. :D

Hey! I just got a warning at The Board That Must Not Be Named! It wasn't for House, it was for another fandom, but still... can I join the club? Can we get t-shirts made? I realized I was in the wrong but I didn't realize what I'd done was so grave! Oh, and when I asked the mod why I got a response that made it sound like she was under the impression that I was either a very immature adult, or else.... three. Maybe she thought I was a three year old adult. ;)

Good for you, March! *pats you on back*

Well, okay, on the other fandom part of The Board That Must Not Be Named we both apologized, so it's okay now. I'm still warned, but at least I'm not angry. *g*

Here's an out of left field-related to nothing-good lord if I was any more desperate I'd be whimpering in a corner-someone help me please! question: Anybody have any hints and tips for getting rid of fleas? Coupland the wonder mutt is infested. I've tried drowning them (poor little guy looked like I was trying to drown him). Killing them with Dawn soap (he managed to look even more pitiful during that little experiment). Coating the carpets with 20 Mule Team Borax so as to suffocate the little bastards. Sprinkling salt on the bedding and couch and around Al the Cat's litter box. I vacuum and clean the cannister. I've washed all my clothes in hot hot water and Borax and dried them in the dryer which goes against my belief that using electricity for a job that can be done just as well with natural energy is wasteful. My apartment is clean! NOTHING WORKS! I'm losing my freakin' mind here! I can't sleep. The fleas are evil and vicious creatures. I hate to bug bomb because that means I have to take dog and cat out of the house for 3 hours and drive around or something while the toxic chemicals clear. The dog's not too hard to manage-but traveling with both of them sounds very not fun. So-anyone else dealt with this?

Poeia- 10-04-2007

It's been a very long time since I've dealt with fleas (it's one problem birds don't have). Dr. Foster and Smith's website is usually pretty good. http://www.ehow.com/how_2439_get-rid-fleas.html

Don't mess around with sprays, baths, powders, collars or all that shit. Use Frontline Plus (you don't need a prescription) or Advantage or one of the other topical flea meds. You can get them online or from your vet's office. Do not, however, buy anything from your local pet store that claims to work in the same way or anything made by Hartz. They will kill all fleas within a few days. edit: That article is fine, but really there's no reason not to use the topical flea meds first. They will do everything the other steps in the article do, only faster. The meds are safe and they work - there's no reason for pets (or you) to suffer from fleas anymore.

All the baths and sprays in the world just plain suck when the animal is infested. Use the Frontline Plus. There are other, less expensive, brands of the topical meds but don't be taken in by them. You gotta use the good stuff which is about $50-60, depending on the weight of your animal. It really does work and your pets will be put out of their misery all the more quickly.

sautomne- 10-04-2007

Yeah, Frontline is the way to go. It's amazing how well it works.

misanthropicobs- 10-04-2007

I'll agree with the people who said to use Frontline Plus. I live with 4 dogs and have never had a problem. Even with the strays I have on occasion taken in. I immediately started them on Frontline Plus and it took care of whatever fleas they had when they came into my place. Also, if you don't have your dog/cat on a monthly heartworm medication then you need to get them started. One of my vets showed me a slide of some blood from a dog who had heartworm, they are nasty nasty beasties and having to treat for heartworm can sometimes be fatal to animal being treated.
