TrooperCam- 09-03-2007

aww GG, do you have any Pepto or Alk Seltzer? Go lie down for a while and see if that helps. and try to drink something, nausea will make you dehydrated and rubber legged.

Aww, we're sorry, galaxygirl! *hugs and chicken soup*

I could see going for Elvis C. but I saw Bob Dylan last year and he was AWFUL. I mean... it's Bob Dylan... you think that you're going to see this legendary performer and even though he's not the most articulate singer, I expected him to be a good performer. It was one of the worst shows I've ever seen. I even left early.

TrooperCam- 09-03-2007

I don't know because I wasn't around when Bob was at his peak, but I don't think he ever really was a good performer. I saw him with Paul Simon in 2000 or 2001....can't remember, but he mostly just stood there and sang. I think Dylan's appeal has always come from his lyrics, not his performance or singing ability which has been noted as pretty bad. I should note Paul was awesome, and I would see him again in concert, cost be damned

TC, I saw that tour, too! Paul Simon is so fantastic. He was kind of my first crush. (Ya, rly) Dylan is wonderful. Total genius and I'll fight anyone who says different. I can listen to Dylan anytime, any day. That being said, I've seen him live numerous times and it's never been terribly good. And yet I keep going. An old friend of mine plays fiddle and steel guitar with Dylan, it's always a thrill to see Donnie up on the big stage. But, I think what keeps Zimmy on the road is his turn of phrase and the fact that he tours with some of the best side musicians and awesome co-headliners currently living. It sure as hell ain't his showmanship.

I don't think we have any of those things :( It probably doesn't help that I've been up since 1:30 am and haven't gotten a nap. Aww, we're sorry, galaxygirl! *hugs and chicken soup* aww, thank you HTR *hugs back* We don't have any chicken soup at the moment, I got myself some tomato soup, maybe that will help a bit.

TC, I saw that tour, too! Paul Simon is so fantastic. He was kind of my first crush. (Ya, rly) OMG, embarassing, but he was one of my first crushes as well. I still have the t-shirt from that concert and I bought the poster at the show (that cool art-deco train motif remember) and had it professionally framed recently. I can listen to Dylan's music all day everyday. He has a way of turning a phrase and use of imagery that is hard to touch, but he is not a good singer. My cat sings better when she gets her tail stepped on. I think Dylan was lucky in that he came out of the folk club scene, a more intimate small venue type deal, cause frankly now he wouldn't have a chance.

OK then. *takes back chicken soup and gives you tomato instead* *shifty eyes**eats chicken soup* As amazing as it may seem, I have never been to any concert for anyone ever. It makes me sad. :(

HTR-Do you know who Bob Dylan and Paul Simon are? My first concert was Harry Chapin when I was 2. My first memory, Ma was pregnant with the sister and Daddy had to work. We sat WAY up on the lawn, the stage seemed a million miles away. We couldn't stay after so Harry could 'kiss all the pretty girls.' I've always wished we could've done. I guess I would've qualified as a 'pretty girl.' I was a funny lookin' kid. The first concert I had any say in (not that I regret seeing Harry-exact opposite) was Paul Simon. Born at the Right time tour, 'back in 91. I've seen Paul Simon 2 or 3 times since then. Missed the Simon and Garfunkel reunion tour. Poverty is unpleasant. I'd rather not think about all of the money I've spent traveling to shows, paying for tickets, feeding myself and paying for hotel rooms. Not that I'd give change a thing. Music's the only thing that matters.

I vaugly know who Paul Simon is and I've heard songs by Bob Dylan–I didn't like them much. I think I was at one of those charity thingys KFOG does, but I really had no clue what was going on(I was 3).

TrooperCam- 09-03-2007

We sat WAY up on the lawn, You can always count on the cheap seats. I wish I could have seen Harry in concert...I almost put live, but that is rather redundant. I was five when he was killed so the chance of seeing him anyways was rather slim to begin with. HTR- get thee to ITunes and go listen to some Paul Simon NOW!! Start with Graceland and then go to Paul Simon and There Goes Rhymn Simon. For Bob, try Like a Rolling Stone, Shelter from the Storm and Tangled up in Blue. Seriously, if you write Bob Dylan and Paul Simon are two people...come to think of it Harry is another one, whose works you want to be familiar with.

galaxygirl- 09-03-2007

I think Bob Dylan is a brilliant song writer, however, I'm not impressed with him as an recording artist. I don't know, I guess I don't really care for his singing style.
