It's my first office job and so far everyone are really nice and helpful. Any of you office old hands care to give a n00b a few tips? Make friends with the office manager/secretary/assistant, whatever they may be called. They have the power to make your life a living hell. I've had to learn this the hard way. At those prices, I don't think even Jon Bon Jovi himself could afford to go to his own concert! I went to see Bon Jovi a few years ago and only paid like $100. I guess times have changed.

EC, those sites won't tell you anything. Don't buy from someplace like that. If you don't have tickets yet and yr pal doesn't then if you really want to go stand outside of the venue and walk about looking like you need a ticket v. bad. I got into the Neil Young show at the ryman when he taped Ptaitie Wind DVD that way. That show didn't even have tickets available, they were given away on TV/ to local (and not so local) celebs. It's possible to go to any show. Just be willing to get to the venue 1-2 h. ahead so that you can find someone who wants to sell the ticket @ face value (maybe less, if you get lucky).

I want to share some good news with people who will understand! Earlier this year, my beloved 27 inch TV crapped out on me. I'd had it for 15 years so it didn't owe me anything, really. My SO (known as Motorcycle Man or MM for short) had an even older TV that we set up at that point. Older, and a bit smaller, but hey, it worked. Until last week. I wasn't even finished rewatching season 3 yet! Ugh. But this story has a happy ending. We discussed it, and decided to give each other an early Yule/Christmas present: a 32 inch LCD TV! We set it up last night... it is gorgeous. Just in time for S4. *happy dance*

At those prices, I don't think even Jon Bon Jovi himself could afford to go to his own concert! I went to see Bon Jovi a few years ago and only paid like $100. I guess times have changed. Cool! Where and when if you don't mind my asking? I went to two shows in Jersey last year and the actual ticket cost was $122 each--TM price. Being stuck in the South--as you know--the closest they'll play around here is Nashville, Atlanta, or Dallas. So I'll travel and the way I look at it is if I'm going to travel that far, I'm going to buy good tickets. I often buy from brokers or do the Ticketmaster Auctions, but even those are getting to the point where I can't afford it. At these rates, crappy seats are going for $500 each from the brokers. If you don't have tickets yet and yr pal doesn't then if you really want to go stand outside of the venue and walk about looking like you need a ticket v. bad. That's not a risk I could take--flying to Jersey without tickets in hopes of getting them the day of the show. Now you certainly can get tickets the day of the show, and sometimes even get good ones the day of the show, but I have to book a flight at least 4-6 weeks in advance or get robbed on airfare. I think I'll just be saving my money this year. :(

Being stuck in the South--as you know--the closest they'll play around here is Nashville, Atlanta, or Dallas. Don't I know it. Last BJ concert I went to was May(?) 2001 in Atlanta (I guess a little more than a few years now). I've been a fan since the 80's when they played at the Hump at MSU.

Don't I know it. Last concert I went to was May(?) 2001 in Atlanta. I've been a fan since the 80's when they played at the Hump at MSU. I was there! :D In Atlanta... I was too young when they played at MSU. I barely got my parents to let me see them when they played in Jackson in 1989.

That Atlanta concert was great! :D

extra_cat- 09-03-2007

I've never been to a bad show by them. I've been to 19 over the years. I don't really like Philips Arena though. I didn't even bother going to Atlanta the last tour. I hit some other cities instead.

Aaarrrrgh! Why does everything have to all happen at once? I get two proofs for two different manuscripts on the Same Day! They need them back in 3-5 days, please. After the journals each take approximately 6 months just sitting on their butts! How does that happen? It's gotta be some sort of evil conspiracy... Plus, what are supposed to be little, tiny editor's corrections are actually substantial revisions: "Journal X prefers that you use test Y to analyze this sort of data, so please change it. Times 20. Thank you." Maybe that could've been brought to my attention, oh I don't know, during the revisions phase? Arrg! And, of course, the software I need has expired. Plus, I need to find a damn job, so I can actually get money :( Sorry. Going insane today. But I feel a little better now :?

extra cat, stubhub is your friend. They list tickets starting at $90. I'm sure it's nosebleed, but ... www.stubhub.com Click on "buy" and it'll even show you where the seats are.

extra_cat- 09-03-2007

Yeah, I can get in the first 20 rows on the floor for about $500. I know... I'll go to New Jersey and just NOT buy any Christmas presents for my family. LOL I think they'd understand, don't you?

JenButterfly- 09-03-2007

Hmmmm, are they Jovi fans. If no, then I'm thinking not.

Just in time for S4. *happy dance* aww I am jealous. I have been trying to get Mr TC to upgrade our television, even going so far as to try and convince him leaving the big 27 inch television would help keep our household goods weight down (we were only authorized 2500 pounds total HHG)...but no dice. The real rub...our smaller television won't arrive till the beginning of October and the big tv won't arrive till the beginning of November. Thank goodness I handcarried the laptops, so at least we will have interweb :)

So, at my kids univ. the homecoming concert is a double bill of Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello....and the kids can get their tickets for around $50 each...and neither of them is really interested in going.... I mean, yeah, it's homecoming and the concert is going to be in the stadium but, geeze, Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello. For $50. Where did I go wrong???? Congrats on the new tv! My old vcr finally died this spring and after I spent a month combing thrift shops and pawn shops for a cheap one (which still had its remote.... ) my son bought me a brandnew shiny video and dvd player. So special. Sorry about that bad editor news. I'm going to be doing some editing this fall for a professor friend--I will keep your experience in mind so I won't do anything horrible like that to her....

Bob Dylan and Elvis Costello at the Ted is the homecoming billing for ODU, my alma mater.
