I guess right now I don't give a shit about the parents. :lol: I was told Friday that I was not being asked back for next year. So all I have to do know is figure out what I want to be doing, and find a job doing it. I am not sure I want to stay in teaching after this experience, even though it isn't representative of the profession as a whole.
So I am pissed off, and not happy with how it happened but it happened and I am dealing. I get my salary through mid August, and I have a summer job so I am not financially worried just yet. It's what happens after August I need to figure out. I suppose Hugh's kids are to old for a nanny, huh? ;)
I'm sorry!! My best friend and I had a plan that if she wasn't accepted to the university she wanted to attend that this summer we were going to have a nervous breakdown and drive to LA to offer ourselves up as slaves to Hugh. As she's been accepted, you're more than welcome to take our plan. :D

That'll work. Good times. :)
I fully expect someone to walk through the door to tell me it's gone up a dime like they did on Monday
I feel your pain, our gas has gone up to 3.60 a gallon. I love my little 150cc scooter now more than ever. I will take getting rained on for the 86 miles to the tank it gets me. The real suck comes when you realize we pay the same for gas at the post gas station as I did off post in the states and since there is no sales tax you have to wonder what the hell are they charging US prices for.
Seoul gas however is 1500W a liter
1500W= approx 1.50

Arrgh. Parents, cindy lou. My sister took over a high school physics class at one point for a teacher who needed/was forced to take/ a sabbatical and quickly found out that he was so bad the class was favored by seniors as an easy A. Physics. He'd let the kids play ping pong the whole time. My sister actually taught the subject. His last years there, he'd average one kid per year passing the AP physics test. She had 12 pass it. So what happened? The kids who wanted an easy A complained to their parents, the parents complained to the school board and the bad teacher was brought back.

Funny, sounds like the teacher I replaced. I feel bad for the kids I'm going to have to leave behind. I can't even tell them, so the last day of school I have to pretend like I'll be back and that is really going to suck. Allegedly they can't handle such information, it would harm them b.c they can't possibly understand. Kids are far more sophisticated now a days. They can handle finding out. <sigh>

I hope you find a job you can enjoy, cindylouwho. Nothing worse than dragging yourself to a job that's driving you crazy day after day...
re. the gas prices, I don't have to worry about those (although bus fare did go up $0.25 for the first time in...a couple years, I think), but I did have my heating oil tank filled yesterday. Ouch!
I get oil delivered twice a year, in January and May. It's roughly the same #gallons each time:
2005 - $512 $488
2006 - $542 $745 (must have been a cold winter ;))
2007 - $532 $658
2008 - $816 $1063
I suppose I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get all my lovely old windows replaced... though anything where you're routinely offered a $100 discount per window must be awfully expensive :)

Here's my newest grandchild Mojo.
Awwww, woobie!
Very, very big paws. That's going to be one big (albeit adorable) doggie.

Yep, mojo is going to be mojo muy grande very soon. But being sooo cute, will get a ton of hugs: gentle giant is my prognosication. :-)

Yay! I'm getting all the grass in my parking strip ripped out, and I was trying to figure out how I was going to get pavers to make paths...and while I was outside painting, my neighbor started ripping out the path in front of her house. So I got 80 pavers for free. All I had to do was carry them across the street!
Now my arms are really tired :)

Living in NYC, I don't have my own house (as if!) and I'm not really awake yet. When I read your post my first reaction was:
Pavers = people who pave
80 of them? That's a lot of pavers - must be a biiiiiig job.
They did your's for free because they were there? Bargain!
You carried them across the street? I BET your arms are sore! ;-)
Then the brain fog cleared after re-reading twice and I realize that "pavers" must be something you put on the driveway to help in the paving process. Am I right?
Wow, I really need some coffee. ;-)

Pavers are concrete or granite or stone or brick slabs which are laid on a bed of gravel or some other surface to create an actual walkway or driveway.
My sister has a bunch she's trying to get rid of too, MaryKir, but she's in St. Petersburg, Fla. -- which doesn't do me any good for my proposed deck/patio project at my place either.
Right now I'd be happy for some of that heat you've been complaining about. Should it really be a high of 52 degrees the week before Memorial Day? Really?
cindylouwho- 05-19-2008
I would also love some warmth! It is sunny but cool here, and I would love it to be about 75!
Today has been rough. Someone better nominate me for an Emmy for the performance I've been putting on today.
And in unrelated news, I found out yesterday a friend of mine passed away. I didn't even know she was sick. I feel so bad, since I obviously wasn't a very good friend in recent times. :(
