I don't know id we have any Peruvian posters, but if we do, I hope they are okay. CNN is reporting 335 dead and over 1500 imjured in the earthquake this morning.

Popping in to let people know that no one can ruin my mood right now!!! First of all: I MET STEPHEN FRY!!!! *is still dead* I went to the Borne Ultimatum UK premiere with my friend, just hoping to catch a glimpse of Matt Damon (who is pretty in RL) and it turns out that SF loves the Borne movies, books and Matt Damon's teeth (he spoke about them for a good 2 minutes to the interviewer). Anyway, we were standing right next to the cinema entrance and he wasn't going to come over, but he did because apparently "you all screamed so bloody loud." And yeah, that was all me and this strange dude next to me. Anyways, he signed a page in my notepad. I then, in a fit of horrible fangirlyness, shouted "WE LOVE YOU STEPHEN!" He was walking away at the time, but he turned around and said "Yeah, thanks." I would be completely embarrassed if it weren't for the fact that he doesn't know me personally and has probably forgotten all about it by now. But seriously, my life is now pretty much complete. Guh. *still seriously fangirling* Second of all: I got my AS Level results back. 3 A's and a C, baby!!! Ok, the C looks bad, but that was in Maths. It's a wonder I even passed AS Maths. But 3 A's??? History, English Lit. and Business Studies. Also, for my exam paper on The Great Gatsby, I got 105/105!!! Full marks. Guh. For those who don't know, AS Level exams are extremely important, because the results go on you University applications. To get into the Uni I want to attend (London School of Economics), I need 2 A's, a B and a pass in my AS. I'm over the moon, basically. Is it wrong that to me, Stephen Fry > my exams?? Whatever. I'm happy. Also must add that I just saw the news about the Earthquake. My thoughts are with all those affected. I hope that that doesn't include any members of our own.

I hope this doesn't sound flippant because I don't mean it to be but...with all these earthquakes and explosions and multiple bridges collapsing...am I the only who just can't help thinking...Voldemort?

radiosweetheart- 08-16-2007

Does it involve Horsemen? The faithful ascending to heaven while pagans, Catholics and other irredeemables spend 7 years suffering for the sin of commission? Or were you thinking something else? I'm a lapsed pagan-which takes some work, I'll tell you what. One of them damned secular humanists. If the End of Days comes along I promise to report from the front lines.

Ah I well remember getting my trip-A A-level results (in the days before AS) on my 18th birthday (slips into nostalgia mode). Also I know the LSE as I worked there for three years, & still visit as I have friends there, What subject are you wanting to do?... But you're quite right - NONE of that compares to meeting Stephen Fry! I guess we'll both be tuned to his 50th birthday TV prog this weekend (and not just because of HL!)

galaxygirl- SEE IT! It's even more action packed than the second one (if that's even possible) and had me on the edge of my freaking seat the entire time! SEE IT! 407- Good job on the grades. I just got back my summer class grades (I wanted something to do with my summer so I signed up for a class) and I didn't fair to bad myself. Anyhow, I'm glad you got the three A's. That'll do wonders for your GPA and colleges will be coming to your door and you'll get oober scholarships and and and...oh I don't know what to say, I'm just proud of you. On the math note, I'm actually a math tutor at my school. I love the subject, so if you ever have a question let me know.

407-Great job! Wh-hoo! Are you gonna take your NEs now? also... OMG! You met Stephen Fry!

DIY Sheep- 08-16-2007

Excellent. Congrats on both Stephan and passing exams. I'm not a Matt Damon fan myself, but I can gather why Stephen finds him cute. Maths is an aquired taste. It was always my worst subject too. What's an NE?

Questions, questions... hwshipper - I want to study Law (LSE is the best for that after Oxbridge. Gah, the O/C crazy pressure scares me). And yeah, for the SF night(s). It's official that I'm now going to be squeeing the whole time. Hee! JB - Aww, thank you! LOL. After this year, I dropped Maths (it stressed me out way too much). Back before this year, I rocked at Maths. Seriously. Then this year, it all got way too much and the classes pretty much made me want to jump off a cliff. So yeah, it's gone. But my pass grade was all I needed for that, so I'm over the moon. HtR - Thanks! And I knooow. Sheep - I only like certain types of Maths. The C was all due to Statistics, which I suck at (I'm pretty sure I slept through all of my stats classes). So, I got a D in Stats, but the Core Maths modules pulled the grade up slightly. And thanks! I'm not sure about Matt Damon, but he sure is pretty in real life. I'd already seen Stephen by that point and I don't really remember anything after that. I also met Prince (or the artist formally known as...) That was pretty awesome...

CNN is reporting 335 dead and over 1500 imjured in the earthquake this morning. Wow, when I went to bed last night they were only aware of 17 deaths. I can't even imagine. What a nightmare. Congrats, 407. Law? Oooh. You're brave. I'm still trying to figure out if I want to do law, because we have to take a big scary test before we get into law school. Eeek. And congrats on your exams, BTW!

I didn’t hear about Peru until just now (well, 5 minutes ago when I turned on the telly). It sounds horrible. There was one report of scores of people being killed when a church collapsed during service. If that isn’t a lesson of some sort, I don’t know what is. radiosweetheart, I’ll be reporting from right beside you. Congrats on your trip-A 407. I remember many moons and years ago, waiting for my A-levels... ….what? Yes, I'm old and possibly wiping drool off my chin. Why are you so adverse to Oxbridge though? I can highly recommend the ‘-bridge’ part ;) Oh, and one thing I don't think they considered when they started the purge at twop: The hailstorm of PMs taking up band width every time someone gets a warning. It’s curious though, to see the sort of things they’re warning for.

hwshipper- 08-16-2007

Why are you so adverse to Oxbridge though? I can highly recommend the ‘-bridge’ part Funny that, Silja, because I can highly recommend the 'Ox-' part 8)

407- 08-16-2007

Hah, I'm partial to the 'Ox' myself, but... CRAZY PRESSURE! Urgh, I still don't know if I'm going to apply or not. I went to the Law open day at Oxford, it was incredible etc. but I don't know. They probably wouldn't like my C anyways  It always seems like too much to hope for, you know? And thanks, Silja! March301 - We have to take the LCATs to take Law at some Universities. I know Oxbridge need them, LSE doesn't. Which reminds me, I have to get started on prep for them. Not that I have any idea when they're meant to be done by. I should check that out. But thanks!

radiosweetheart- 08-16-2007

Forget all those Oxes and Bridges! You Brits think you have all the best universities! Ha! I went to Western Kentucky. A school so southern and so backwater it gets name checked in at least 3 songs about the good old days: "Grandpa was a Carpenter" by John Prine and "C'mon Back to Bowling Green (and Marry Me)by Tommy Womack/Government Cheese and the aptly titled "Bowling Green" by the Everly Brothers. Now that's a school I'd recommend to anyone that couldn't get into Devry Technical Institute and found the rigorous coursework of University of Phoenix too much to handle. C'mon 407! Immigrate and attend a crappy Southern school in a town perennially referred to as Boring Green (Links added just because I wanted to make sure I was doing it right.)

Silja- 08-16-2007

So between us we could have a right punch-up at the Boat Race. And pinch a few helmets. I forgot to squee at the Stephen Fry sighting. He really is very tall. I’m fairly tall for a woman but I still felt like a dwarf standing next to him.
