I was just loading that. I never thought I'd utter the words "Jerry O'Connell" and "brilliant" in the same glowing sentence, but that's awesome. The laugh is inspired.

For something a little lighter, Jery O'Connell spoofing the Cruise tapes OMG. Little Vern grew up and got some comedy skillz! 8)

The PYT and KFC parts killed me.

Guess who entered rehab today. It's about time and I hope it helps her.

fffaw- 01-24-2008

Thank G-d. She's so talented. I really hope she gets the help she needs.

Dear Lord. I was doing a read/through edit on my BigBang fic and went to hit control "s" to save. My finger hit both the W and the S at the same time ... and I lost the last 10 pages. (I'm on a Mac.) Mind you, I'd finished the write-through last Saturday. I've saved it multiple times since then. And yet ... it's gone. I can rewrite them, but anyone out there have any clue how to recover?

Mind you, I'd finished the write-through last Saturday. I've saved it multiple times since then. And yet ... it's gone. I can rewrite them, but anyone out there have any clue how to recover? Oh shit, Namaste! I did the same thing in December. I don't know how it works with Macs, but just don't do anything else until you can get an expert to help you. Seriously, my messing around just a teeny bit was enough to overwrite my files.

Hail the Random- 01-24-2008

Namaste, what were you using? (Text edit, AppleWorks, etc.)

Namaste- 01-24-2008

AppleWorks. I'm actually at the Apple store right now.

Hail the Random- 01-24-2008

Ooh! I love the Apple store! I typed a bunch of random letters on AppleWorks and did cntrl W and it asked me if I wanted to save or not. I did it about 6 times and it just kept doing that, so I have no idea.

Namaste- 01-24-2008

Luckily, I'm about a mile from the new Apple store in town. Unfortunately ... they couldn't help. It shows a copy saved at 8 p.m. -- when it was 45 pages (I was doing a final write-through and preparing to send it to beta -- but it reverts to a Jan. 6 copy. It doesn't show anything that's been saved at all on my computer since Jan. 6. And I save obsessively. I can still rewrite it, and obviously I know what was in there, but dangit, I'll be working 12 hour shifts tomorrow and Saturday for the Ann Arbor Folk Festival, and I've got a Superbowl party next weekend. I'd really planned on having nearly everything done before that in time for the Feb. 15 deadline. Think they'll understand if everything isn't beta'd fully by then?

blue- 01-24-2008

Sorry, Namaste. If it's any consolation to you, you're way, way ahead of me. Still. I think it'll be fine if it's not beta-ed as long as everything's pretty solid. And I'm sure yours will be.

Namaste- 01-24-2008

My one consolation is that I still have the Foreman POV chapter. Foreman is a bitch to write -- for me at least -- so I don't have to completely rewrite that. But now I've got to rewrite half the Chase POV, all of Kutner's POV, Wilson's and House's. *sigh* This is what I get for bragging to someone that I was finished early.

shutterbug12- 01-24-2008

Wow, Namaste, you're on top of things (even with the whole debacle that happened). I still have quite a bit to go. And, as far as I knew, it's fine if it hasn't been beta-ed yet. I was assured that it's all right if the draft is a little loose, as long as the plot points are there and you don't plan to change those plot points (since the artists will be basing their art on it). Zulu's got to be around here somewhere though. And you could always check with the mods through email if you're unsure.

Namaste- 01-24-2008

I emailed the mods to let them know. The thing is, you never write anything exactly the same twice -- or at least I can't -- so while the scenes may be roughly the same as I'd written previously, I find myself adding bits that weren't there previously (and didn't seem to be needed previously) and at the same time I know that I'm dropping details I'd used in the past. It's like I'm mourning phrases that I'd written that I was pleased with, even though I'm sure something just as good will come of it. (Of course it's also frustrating as hell to do a word count and it's under 15,000 now. Again.)
