I was reading a story on the Siberian tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo on the Associated Press wire -- which is odd enough -- but then I got a popup advertising a screen saver featuring .... exotic zoo animals. Is it bad that I laughed?

No, Namaste, it isn't bad that you laughed, but it most certainly IS bad that I read that story myself and wished I'd thought of taking my mother to the zoo yesterday... "Let's go look at the Siberian tiger again, shall we?"

Now that's some holiday familial stress there, jj1963! ;-) I think we've probably all had those moments with various and sundry relatives.

Benazir Bhutto was assassinated in Pakistan this morning. She was shot in the neck after a bombing at a rally this morning.

Just heard that on the Today show. It's always weird when the cooking segment and tips on holiday party dresses is interrupted by news like that.

I'm so upset about this. I was reading an article recently about her - people were cautioning her not to return but she said that she had to be there for her country. I wonder what will happen in Pakistan now? I can't imagine anything good.

It is a bit of born-in-to-it here in Boston! Especially with the Sox going all the way again, it is very exciting in these parts nowadays. It was an incredible game . . . .

What I don't get, really, is why the Eagles can really only win when we know we're definitely not going to the playoffs. Like, the whole team needs to take up yoga to work on the stress or something.

So for the first time in my whole life, I got a good haircut that I was really happy with from a stylist who really knew what he was doing. My best friend talked me into it and, even though I paid a hefty sum (really not what I was used to), it is the happiest I've ever been with my hair. And it's very exciting. Now that I've typed it all out, it reads like a tiny, trivial thing, but it was like some kind of event here. It's really not as pathetic as it sounds. LOL
